Impact of COVID-19 on gastrointestinal disease in vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals: a population-based cohort study in England

🚨COVID leaves a years-long GI scar, even after mild cases, far worse after hospitalisation. Vaccination cuts the damage sharply. New OpenSAFELY ️This interesting OpenSAFELY population-based cohort study (linked NHS data on ~18–24 million English adults) examined incidence of 10 gastrointestinal diseases (upper/lower GI bleeding, pancreatitis, appendicitis, GERD, dyspepsia, peptic ulcer, NASH, gallstones, IBS) after COVID-19 diagnosis versus before/without it.

➡️The study analysed three separate cohorts to compare gastrointestinal disease risk after COVID-19 according to vaccination era and status:
1. Pre-vaccination cohort (January 2020 – June 2021; n ≈ 18.4 million):
- This period captured the highest elevations,
- After hospitalised COVID-19, the adjusted hazard ratio (aHR) for upper gastrointestinal bleeding was 20.1 in weeks 1–4 and remained elevated at 1.90 in weeks 53–102,
- After non-hospitalised COVID-19 the corresponding aHRs were 1.92 and 1.34,
- Similar patterns were seen across the other nine gastrointestinal outcomes,
- Excess risk of upper GI bleeding at 28 weeks was approximately 159 per 100,000 people diagnosed with COVID-19,
- Elevated incidence persisted for up to two years, driven mainly by severe/hospitalised cases.
- Period when the Wuhan/Alpha variant was dominant.

2. Vaccinated cohort (June – December 2021; n ≈ 14.9 million):
- aHRs were consistently lower than in the other two cohorts,
- For upper GI bleeding in weeks 1–4 the overall aHR was 1.84; after hospitalised COVID-19 it was 15.2 and after non-hospitalised disease it was 1.20,
- Excess risk of upper GI bleeding at 28 weeks fell to about 60 per 100,000,
- Vaccination attenuated both the early peak and the longer-term elevation,
- Period when the Delta variant was dominant (until Omicron became dominant near the end of follow-up).

3. Unvaccinated cohort (June – December 2021; n ≈ 3.5 million)
- Risks were higher than in the vaccinated group and closer to the pre-vaccination era,
- For upper GI bleeding in weeks 1–4 the overall aHR was 4.26, after hospitalised COVID-19 it was 19.7 and after non-hospitalised disease it was 2.14,
- Excess risk of upper GI bleeding at 28 weeks was approximately 112 per 100,000, intermediate between the pre-vaccination and vaccinated cohorts,
- Period when the Delta variant was dominant (until Omicron became dominant near the end of follow-up).

➡️Across all three cohorts the elevation was greatest after hospitalised COVID-19, increased with age, and was attenuated by prior vaccination.

➡️The longest persistence (up to two years) was observed in the pre-vaccination cohort.

‼️So, severe COVID-19 leaves a years-long elevated risk of gastrointestinal disease that vaccination meaningfully blunts but does not erase.

‼️Again, the vaccinated were the smartest! Data above support AGAIN vaccination as an important public health intervention in reducing severe COVID-19 outcomes and its possible consequences!

‼️At population scale this translates into substantial extra GI bleeding, reflux, pancreatitis and related diagnoses for years after infection, concentrated among older people and those hospitalised. It increases outpatient, endoscopic and hospital burden, especially in high-prevalence periods, and underscores why preventing severe COVID-19 remains clinically relevant long after the acute phase. #Mitigation

Economic Burden of Post-COVID Syndrome in Germany Between 2021 and 2025: A Statutory Health Insurance Claims Data Analysis

🚨LongC0VID’s real cost isn’t hospital beds, it’s sick days and doctor visits, especially among working-age adults. What a surprise, NOT!😷

➡️This anonymous German health insurance records (real-life data, not a lab experiment).

➡️It found that people who developed longC0VID (new cases of postC0VID symptoms) kept needing more medical care, took more sick days, and cost the health system more money for a long time afterward.

➡️The biggest extra burdens were:
- More sick leave (time off work),
- More outpatient doctor visits (regular doctor appointments, not hospital stays),

➡️This was especially true for working-age adults.

➡️In other words, the long-term costs of longC0VID hit hardest in everyday medical care and lost work productivity, rather than in hospital admissions.

➡️The researchers conclude that better prevention of longC0VID is needed to reduce these ongoing effects on healthcare use and people’s ability to work.

‼️So, AGAIN, postC0VID syndrome creates a substantial, persistent economic burden driven mainly by excess sick leave and outpatient care, especially among working-age adults, rather than hospital stays! 😡BUT, let's not forget the personal impact too!!

YOUR ATTENTION:

🚨Every new COVID-19 (re)infection elevates your cardiovascular risk profile. Even mild cases can raise the odds of a heart attack, stroke, heart failure, and other CV events for months to years afterward. Risk is higher with more severe illness, yes, but it’s o severe disease. Updated vaccination will show some mitigation(infection severity↓) but doesn’t give you a risk-free pass!

SARSCoV2 can break your immune tolerance.

Molecular mimicry + persistent antigen = autoimmunity risk.

The virus itself does this! 🧵👇
#COVID19 and #Autoimmunity: When the Immune System’s Defence Turns Inward!

➡️ SARS-CoV-2 may disrupt immune regulation through molecular mimicry, persistent antigenic stimulation, bystander activation and epitope spreading.

In susceptible individuals, these compounded by oral–gut microbiome dysbiosis and altered amino-acid metabolism—may weaken immune tolerance and promote autoantibody formation and autoimmune manifestations. 1/

Frontal lobes thriving. Society just randomly decided to become a pack of unhinged, zero-filter idiots. Pure coincidence! 🙄
If SARS-CoV-2 was really damaging people’s frontal lobes, you’d be noticing people being more brazenly rude, hostile, bigoted, antisocial, and tribalistic. Both online & irl.

You’d notice people would be quicker to lose their temper, and unable to keep a lid on their emotions.

🔥"We've shown that we can teach the immune system to recognize these KRAS mutations," Dr. George says. "The next step is finding out whether doing that can change the course of the disease for patients." #PancreaticCancer #vaccine
An investigational vaccine helped the immune system recognize and respond to mutations that drive most pancreatic cancers, according to results from a clinical trial led by Mayo Clinic researchers.

Nearly every patient evaluated after receiving the vaccine developed an immune d KRAS, a gene that plays a major role in pancreatic cancer.

This Interesting study/new model demonstrates that the adaptive part of the immune system (specifically human T cells) ends up suppressing the innate antiviral response (especially interferon). That suppression makes it harder for the body to clear the virus, so viral material d inflammation continues, a pathology that mirrors longC0VID.

The Glymphatic–Meningeal Lymphatic System and Autophagy in ME/CFS and Long COVID: A Mechanistic Perspective

🚨Brain fog, PEM, and crushing fatigue in ME/CFS & LongC0VID may stem from a clogged brain waste-clearance system + broken cellular recycling. Sleep and autophagy are the missis INTERESTING USA mechanistic exploration study proposes that dysfunction of the integrated glymphatic–meningeal lymphatic system (extracellular CSF–ISF waste flushing, mainly during sleep via AQP4 channels and meningeal drainage to cervical nodes) together with impaired autophagy (intracellular lysosomal degradation) contributes to ME/CFS and Long COVID pathophysiology,

➡️These partially overlapping post-( viral-)infectious conditions feature shared symptoms (fatigue, PEM, unrefreshing sleep, brain fog, orthostatic intolerance) and mechanisms including neuroinflammation, mitochondrial dysfunction, reduced cerebral blood flow, and endothelial/BBB issues,

➡️Toxic misfolded proteins and amyloid aggregates (from viral components such as SARSCoV2 spike/EBV, fibrin microclots, oxidative stress, gut dysbiosis/leaky gut, axonal/myelin damage, cell debris, and metabolic stress) accumulate, clog perivascular spaces, mislocalize AQP4, disrupt membranes in a detergent-like manner, and impair selective autophagy subtypes (aggrephagy, mitophagy, ER-phagy, xenophagy, etc),

➡️Circadian/sleep disruption creates bidirectional vicious cycles that worsen clearance failure,

➡️Effects are cell-type specific (neurons, astrocytes, microglia, T cells) and contribute to core features such as PEM, pain, dysautonomia, and cognitive symptoms,

➡️No specific mention of reinfection(s) or vaccines/vaccination impact,

➡️The authors emphasize autophagy regulators, particularly mTORC1, as promising targets, noting that low-dose rapamycin has been linked to reductions in fatigue and post-exertional malaise. They advocate a holistic “cocktail” approach that simultaneously supports both the mechanical (glymphatic–meningeal) and biochemical (autophagy) arms of waste clearance, while cautioning rightfully that, given the heterogeneity of these conditions, the proposed model may apply more strongly to certain patient phenotypes than to others! #heterogeneity

‼️So, according to these authors, persistent buildup of toxic misfolded protein aggregates from failed glymphatic–meningeal lymphatic flushing and autophagy creates a self-reinforcing cycle of neuroinflammation, mitochondrial failure, and clearance collapse that may drive the core neurological and systemic symptoms of ME/CFS and LongC0VID.

‼️Now combining what I’ve learnt from @DavidJoffe64_2 with this study, sleep quality, and timing matter intensely: glymphatic flow and autophagy peak during deep/NREM sleep and fasting periods, so chronic sleep disruption can accelerate waste buildup and symptom flares. Practical angles include prioritizing consistent, high-quality sleep, managing oxidative stress/inflammation (diet, avoiding known triggers), pacing to limit PEM-related metabolic stress, and recognizing that gut health or ongoing inflammatory drivers may feed aggregate production. No proven daily “fix” yet, but the framework supports testing sleep optimization and cautious autophagy-supportive strategies under medical guidance while awaiting targeted trials.

Effects of prolonged SARS-CoV2 spike protein exposure in long COVID and a mouse model of the disease

🚨SARSCoV2 spike protein can linger for months to years in the tiny blood vessels of the brain and skin. It appears to keep those vessels in a chronically inflamed state and can sing microangiopathy) that restricts them.

➡️Simple takeaways from this interesting USA study:
- People with C0VID (symptoms lasting 1–5 years) and those who died of COVID had far more ACE2-positive small blood vessels in the brain than people who fully recovered or never had severe disease,
- Spike protein was still easily found in those same small blood vessels in longC0VID (including skin samples) and fatal cases, at levels similar to mice that had been exposed to spike for 1.5 months.
Recovered people had very little,
- Only the longC0VID, fatal COVID, and long-term spike-exposed mice showed clear collagen scarring around the small vessels,
- Giving mice a high dose of spike protein massively increased the number of ACE2 blood vessels in the brain over time (about 19-fold).

‼️So, these findings suggest persistent spike protein itself can drive ongoing microvascular damage in longC0VID.

‼️This study provides further confirmation of what prior research has already indicated: SARSCoV2 spike protein can persist for months to years after infection and is associated with ongoing microvascular injury in longC0VID. By documenting elevated ACE2-positive vessel density, residual spike protein, and collagen deposition in the CNS and skin of longC0VID and fatal cases, mirroring findings in mice chronically exposed to spike alone, it strengthens the evidence that lingering spike contributes to a sustained pro-inflammatory and fibrotic state in small blood vessels. While consistent with earlier observations of viral antigen persistence and vascular dysfunction in longC0VID, these tissue-level findings add specific support for a direct role of prolonged spike exposure in driving restrictive microangiopathy.

⁉️🤔Now a study on microvascular myocardial damage in patients with longC0VID?

Edward Dowd is a public health hazard!😡😡

➡️Hurts’ clots are textbook provoked VTE from trauma + travel, not vaccines. He was cleated in the calf (Oct 4), then took a long flight to London. That’s classic risk factors (injury + immobility). Team/medical reports confirm it’s “provoked,” with good prognosis on blood thinners. No link to vaccination from years earlier.

➡️Vaccine clotting facts (not anecdotes):
- Rare VITT (thrombosis + low platelets) was specific to adenovirus vaccines (AstraZeneca/J&J), ~1 in 200,000, mostly after the first dose, mechanism now identified (anti-PF4 antibodies).
- mRNA vaccines do not show this signal.
- COVID infection itself carries far higher clotting risk (VTE risk elevated 30x+ in the acute phase vs. baseline, much higher than any vaccine).
- Vaccination reduces post-COVID heart failure, VTE, and arterial thrombosis risk for up to a year.

➡️Dowd’s UK PIP chart is junk epidemiology dressed up as a “signal.” It’s pure ecological correlation: Disability claims for clotting disorders rising after 2021 while vaccination was rolling out. It controls for nothing: NOT the massive wave of COVID infections that actually cause clotting disorders, NOT Long COVID, NOT delayed care, ....nothing!!!

➡️Correlation ≠ causation, and this is the weakest form of it.

➡️Real pharmacovigilance (not insurance claims graphs) found the only genuine rare clotting risk was in adenovirus vaccines (AZ/J&J, ~1/200k,VITT with low platelets,anti-PF4 antibodies) and those were restricted and terminated.

➡️mRNA vaccines show no such signal and reduce COVID-driven thrombosis. THE OPPOSITE of DOWD’s claim!

‼️Edward Dowd ( @DowdEdward) IS A PUBLIC HEALTH HAZARD! By relentlessly pushing vaccine-blaming anecdotes and unadjusted correlation graphs as proof of mass harm, he spreads fear that discourages people from a tool proven to slash COVID-driven clotting, heart failure, and death. His claims ignore the data, ignores the real risks of the virus, and put lives at risk!

It will be our just deserts for having abandoned the Jews, ignored their warnings, turned against them, and even marched alongside their oppressors.

For three years, you useful idiots have been ags, sporting keffiyehs, screaming “From the River to the Sea”, and recognizing a fictitious Palestinian state as a reward for Hamas’s October 7 massacre (looking at you, @EmmanuelMacron). You have boycotted the only Jewish state in the world, vilified the Jewish people’s right to self-determination (aka “Zionism”), and spread the “Gaza genocide” blood libel.

Did you really think that if you fed the crocodile enough Jewish flesh, it would eventually be satiated? All you have done is embolden the monster and whet its appetite.

So you were worried about “colonization”? Look around. The only thing being colonized here are our own Western cities.
