the broader observation here is i perpetually find myself in a state of confusion about the % of the population that genuinely doesn't really care about what's actually true

like how do you live with yourself?? bizarre

i know i just see a disproportionate amount of these posts because he responds to so many of his haters

but the amount of journalists and other allegedly serious people with actual reputations that just verifiably lie on here about Palmer Luckey is kinda crazy

i have a custom raspberry pi baby monitor thing with a very simple cloudflare worker controller and i blinded myself last due to my session expiring and the login page being bright in the middle of the night

All of Patrick's exasperated threads are great, but this one is extra great

Must read

A conversation that has happened many times in banking, with various flavor texts, from fintech to public banking to microfinance.

A: We think there is an opportunity to write loans to an underserved population.
B: At usuriously high rates?

strange to me that Codex's compaction algo has been so much better than Claude's for like >6 months now?

anthro is sleeping on this? or they don't believe in compaction as a medium-to-long term technology worth investing in?

codex compaction is soooooo good now

someone used the adjective "baby pumpkin" to refer to one of those small decorative pumpkins

our toddler immediately generalized to "dada pumpkin" is a big pumpkin, and "mama pumpkin" is a bit smaller than a dada pumpkin

and when you have many options in the short term that all seem equally good, you break ties by biasing towards optionality

simply maintaining optionality often later gives the appearance of having planned

planning is overrated

just take the shortest term action that is in the general direction of your goal

reality is a super high dimensional space, so this basically always works

doing a startup the last 5 years, i totally missed the impact of AI within BigTech

did not realize how hard it'd become to actually judge the output of junior engineer contributions for the purpose of promotions

they still provide value of course, but just much less legible

perfect balance between minimalism and maximalism

rooms feel perfectly full but not overwhelming

colorful but still easy on the eyes

occidentalism meets orientalism, truly perfect

claude: the two versions of the code compile to identical binaries, let me benchmark them to make sure they have the same performance

???

claude apparently believes in dualism and must check the binary's immaterial soul
