How many people are pulling back on spending this Christmas due to struggling?

This week I've had many people telling me they don't know how they are going to cope buying Christmas presents and food all whilst paying the electricity and gas bills.

I'm ut on another great Christmas party for the Wethersfield men this year though, I wonder if Braintree District Council will be funding it through the Essex community foundation?

🚨 CARE4CALAIS HELPING WETHERSFIELD ASYLUM SEEKERS CHALLENGE THEIR ACCOMMODATION AND GET MOVED ELSEWHERE.

I've been looking into Care4Calais and the legal support they're offering asylum seekers at RAF Wethersfield.

It's all on their own website.

The charity advertises legal ekers who believe their Home Office accommodation is unsuitable, specifically naming RAF Wethersfield.

And this isn't something new, it's been happening for years.

In December 2023, Care4Calais launched a legal challenge against the use of Wethersfield and raised funds towards the case.

The charity has also reported helping residents obtain legal representation, with some being moved following challenges to their accommodation.

In March 2025, the High Court ruled that three vulnerable asylum seekers had been unlawfully accommodated at Wethersfield because their individual circumstances hadn't been properly assessed.

That's a room inside RAF Wethersfield.

Newly fitted out, furnished and looking pretty comfortable to me.

Does that honestly look like poor living conditions to you?

I think taxpayers deserve to see what's actually being provided.

And I've got questions.

➡️ How many men have been helped by Care4Calais to challenge their accommodation?

➡️ How many have subsequently been moved into hotels or other accommodation?

➡️ How much have these legal challenges cost the taxpayer?

➡️ How much extra are we paying for alternative accommodation?

Care4Calais's Wethersfield legal fundraising appeal has reported raising over £42,000.

Meanwhile, taxpayers continue funding the accommodation and running costs of RAF Wethersfield.

I want to know what we're paying on top of that when legal challenges result in residents being moved elsewhere.

People have the right to challenge unlawful decisions. Taxpayers have the right to question the costs.

Would you consider that room unsuitable accommodation?

A Conservative MP is now questioning the costs of a base his own party opened.

And the full policing bill? STILL NOT DISCLOSED.

These are full-occupancy projections, not actual spending which will be HIGHER.

British families struggle while the public waits for the full bill.

When big accounts steal content it's vile.

I've worked hard on obtaining this footage, I don't make money from what I do and I'm a working mother showing up for my community.

Couldn't even be bothered to write a detailed description either, enjoy the money you are making off others misery.

🚨 BRITISH FAMILIES ARE STRUGGLING WHILE WETHERSFIELD CONTINUES TO HOUSE HUNDREDS OF MEN!

Families are struggling to pay bills, food prices are high and people are battling mental health problems while waiting for NHS support.

Yet look at what's provided at RAF Wethersfield:

- Access to a mental health nurse.
- General nurses and advanced nurse practitioners.
- Physical and mental health assessments.
- Medication and referrals to specialist services.

Large numbers of men playing pool, socialising, laughing and enjoying themselves inside RAF Wethersfield.

All while the British taxpayer foots the bill for running the accommodation.

Meanwhile, working families are counting every penny, pensioners are worrying about heating their homes and people are struggling to access basic services.

Now here's what men who actually lived at Wethersfield have told me.

They claimed only 10% of residents were "good" and described many others as "crazies", including men sleeping outside and even up trees.

That's their opinion, not a verified figure.

And the very man they described sleeping outside and in trees is now living in our community.

What assessments are being carried out before individuals leave the base?

Who is checking up on them?

🚨 “MURDER” OR “MERDE”? MORE CONCERNING SCENES IN BRAINTREE!

A migrant man is filmed saying what sounds like “murder” while talking about Braintree. Could it be the French word “merde”, meaning shit? We don't know.

Other footage shows Vanguard officers speaking with the same ns of photographing minors and behaving aggressively towards the public.

The men appear to circle around the officers, seemingly not taking them seriously.

These allegations remain unverified, but they have been reported.

Credit to Vanguard for attending and reassuring local businesses and residents.

People shouldn't feel intimidated in their own town. Braintree deserves better.

🇮🇷 SEEKING REFUGE IN BRITAIN, BUT ACCUSING BRITAIN OF THEFT?

An Iranian man at RAF Wethersfield told me to tell our government to stop stealing Iranian fuel.

Meanwhile, two men face charges over a suspected Iranian-linked plot at RAF Fairford. The cases are unrelated.

Why seek g such accusations?

🚨 BRAINTREE BUS STATION TODAY – RESIDENTS AND SHOP OWNERS LEFT FURIOUS!

Around 60 men from RAF Wethersfield gathered at Braintree bus station today, waiting to be transported back to the asylum centre after attending the Care4Calais event in town.

Serious allegations were made ncluding reports of a migrant filming children and an attempted attack on a female Operation Vanguard officer.

Members of the community and local shop owners were understandably furious, and the police were called.

But it didn't end there.

As members of the public stood at the bus stop, a man on the bus reportedly struck a woman's phone out of her hand.

And what happened next?

Police closed the bus doors, and the men were allowed to travel back to RAF Wethersfield.

No arrests were witnessed at the scene.

Braintree residents, women, children and local businesses have every right to feel safe in their own town.

🚨 £3.8 MILLION FOR WETHERSFIELD — £2.7 MILLION STILL UNSPENT!

New FOI figures reported by the Daily Mail reveal Braintree District Council received £3.8 million in Home Office funding linked to RAF Wethersfield.

💷 £2.7m reportedly unspent
💷 £960k spent on services and edly for a communications officer
💷 £40k allocated to police patrols

The council blames Home Office restrictions on how the money can be spent.

So will Braintree residents now have the pleasure of hosting even MORE community projects for Wethersfield residents while local families struggle with rising costs and stretched services?

Photos reportedly show him in military clothing carrying rifles.

🚨 TOM CUNNINGHAM — TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE!

Isn't it funny how Conservative councillor Tom Cunningham has suddenly taken an interest in working with the Home Office to reduce the number of buses bringing men from RAF Wethersfield into Braintree?

WHERE WAS THIS URGENCY 12 MONTHS otesting, filming the buses, raising concerns and demanding answers for over a year.

Now Reform UK has stepped in with Operation Vanguard, suddenly the Conservatives want to be seen doing something!

Let's not forget one very important fact.

IT WAS THE CONSERVATIVES WHO BROUGHT WETHERSFIELD HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE!

Yes, Braintree District Council challenged the use of the base. But why has tackling the daily buses taken so long?

Personally, I believe this is political point-scoring against Reform UK rather than a sudden concern for the people of Braintree.

Residents have been asking for action for months.

The people who've been protesting and speaking out deserve to be heard, not used as political ammunition.

🎥 Here's what I have to say about it.

🚨 THE UN HAS BEEN SPEAKING TO WETHERSFIELD ASYLUM SEEKERS ABOUT PROTESTS IN ESSEX. BUT HAVE THEY SPOKEN TO THE PROTESTERS?

Gina Romero, the United Nations Special Rapporteur for freedom of peaceful assembly, has visited Bridgeway Mission in Colchester.

Bridgeway confirmed she RAF Wethersfield and Colchester to hear how anti-migrant protests have affected them and their access to support.

But has anyone from the UN bothered to speak to the local people protesting?

The pensioners turning up week after week? The parents concerned about their communities? The residents who have spent months questioning the Home Office and local authorities?

There's something else worth knowing.

The last completed official UN investigation into Britain's protest rights was in April 2016.

Back then, UN representative Maina Kiai was investigating concerns about how Britain treated people exercising their right to protest.

He raised concerns about police surveillance, restrictions on demonstrations and even Prevent, the Government's counter-extremism programme.

He questioned whether government policies were discouraging people from expressing perfectly lawful political opinions.

Now, ten years later, we've got another UN representative visiting Colchester to hear about protests surrounding RAF Wethersfield.

Only this time, the public announcement is about the experiences of asylum seekers.

So what about the experiences of the people actually protesting?

Have they asked why pensioners are standing outside the Salvation Army in Braintree?

Have they spoken to residents about their concerns over Wethersfield?

Have they looked at the policing of these demonstrations or listened to complaints from protesters?

And most importantly, will anything said during this meeting end up in a UN report without local residents being given the opportunity to respond?

Peacefully opposing immigration policy is not extremism. It is a democratic right.

And protecting that right is literally part of Gina Romero's job.

So I'd like to extend an invitation.

Gina Romero, come to Braintree. Meet the people who have been protesting. Listen to their experiences and hear why they're there.

Because if the UN wants to understand what's happening in Essex, hearing from the protesters themselves would be a good place to start.

🚨 RAF WETHERSFIELD MIGRANTS BUYING GOOGLE PLAY GIFT CARDS — BUT WHERE IS THE MONEY GOING?

We've received information that men from RAF Wethersfield are regularly purchasing £25–£50 Google Play gift cards from a shop in Braintree.

Different men, different days, several times a dly paying with Home Office-funded ASPEN cards, while others are using cash.

So I decided to look into why these gift cards might be purchased.

And here's what I found.

🔴 THE BBC INVESTIGATED PEOPLE-SMUGGLING PAYMENTS

In May 2026, the BBC exposed how people smugglers were directing payments through UK businesses, including a London mobile phone shop where almost £3,000 could reportedly be transferred to a smuggler in France.

🔴 GOOGLE PLAY CARDS HAVE BEEN USED IN MONEY LAUNDERING

A ProPublica investigation exposed an international fraud operation involving millions of dollars, where stolen gift-card balances were converted into Google Play and other gift cards and sold through intermediaries.

🔴 EVEN THE HOME OFFICE WARNS ABOUT DIGITAL VOUCHERS

Government guidance specifically warns that criminals involved in immigration scams request payments using digital vouchers because the money can be difficult to trace.

Now, none of these investigations proves that the purchases we're hearing about in Braintree are connected to criminal activity or people smuggling.

But I think there are some fair questions here.

Why are Google Play gift cards reportedly being purchased so frequently?

Are ASPEN cards permitted to be used for these purchases?

If taxpayers are funding the cards, what checks are in place?

Asylum seekers living in accommodation where meals are provided normally receive £9.95 a week in support. Yet we're hearing of individual gift-card purchases worth £25–£50.

This is about following the money, asking questions and establishing the facts.

Did you know that asylum seekers housed at RAF Wethersfield can qualify for FREE NHS prescriptions, even while their asylum claims are still being processed?

The Home Office confirms that n taxpayer-funded medical centre, where healthcare professionals can prescribe medication.
But there's more.

💊 A whistleblower has told us that men at Wethersfield are receiving lip balm and Sudocrem on prescription alongside their TB medication.

🏥 We've also been informed that large numbers of men from the base are being sent to Braintree Community Hospital for TB testing.

These reports have not yet been independently verified, but they questions about the healthcare arrangements and associated costs.

📄 THE NHS HC2 CERTIFICATE

Official NHS guidance confirms that asylum seekers receiving Section 95 support automatically qualify for an HC2 certificate.

This entitles them to:
✅ FREE NHS prescriptions
✅ FREE NHS dental treatment
✅ FREE NHS sight tests
✅ Help towards glasses and contact lenses
✅ Help with qualifying hospital travel costs.

And yes, this can include men who arrived in Britain illegally by small boat and are now housed at Wethersfield while awaiting decisions on their asylum claims.

How many prescriptions are being issued at Wethersfield, what items are being supplied, and what is the total cost to the taxpayer?

We also want to establish how many residents are receiving TB screening and treatment through local NHS services.

The public deserves to know bout how taxpayer-funded services are being used and figures for latent TB as well as active TB.

🚨🚨🇬🇧 BRAINTREE HAS HAD ENOUGH!

Around 100 migrants attended the Care4Calais event at the Salvation Army in Braintree today, where football kits were handed out.

Men rushing towards the bus stop, pushing and scrambling to get on the bus. Absolute chaos!

This is OUR town, and ght to question what is happening on their doorstep.

Men from RAF Wethersfield are coming into Braintree, accessing free clothing, activities and support from charities and organisations who don't even live here.

Meanwhile, local residents are left asking who is managing all this, who is paying for it and why their concerns are constantly brushed aside.

We are NOT staying silent.

They are travelling into our towns and accessing a network of charities, community organisations, activities and support.

People in Braintree, Colchester, Chelmsford and the surrounding areas deserve to know what's available, how many people are accessing it, who is providing it and where the funding comes from.

It's about showing the public what is actually happening in their own towns.

What more could they want?

🚨 HOW MUCH IS LEGAL SUPPORT FOR RAF WETHERSFIELD ACTUALLY COSTING?

The video alongside this post looks at the different routes available to asylum seekers at RAF Wethersfield to obtain immigration and asylum legal advice.

⚖️ BRAINTREE — Refugee Legal Support began monthly hops for Wethersfield residents. A joint report records workshops being delivered in a different language each month.

⚖️ COLCHESTER — this one comes directly from the Government.

In October 2024, the Ministry of Justice was specifically asked whether Wethersfield residents could reach immigration legal-aid providers.

Its response confirmed:

➡️ Wethersfield operates a shuttle service THREE TIMES A DAY into Colchester where residents can access legal-aid services.

⚖️ SOLICITORS CAN COME TO WETHERSFIELD — the same Government response confirms legal-aid contracts allow solicitors to travel directly to the base when face-to-face advice is required and the resident cannot travel.

In those circumstances, the solicitor can be paid for their reasonable travel time AND travel costs.

⚖️ REMOTE LEGAL ADVICE — up to 75% of immigration and asylum advice can be delivered remotely under the 2024 legal-aid contract, giving Wethersfield residents access to a wider pool of legal-aid providers across the country.

⚖️ CARE4CALAIS — also provides legal-access support, helping asylum seekers navigate the system and obtain specialist legal representation.

And then there are the national figures...

💷 £18.8 MILLION — immigration legal-aid expenditure in England and Wales in just April–June 2026.

💷 £21.14 MILLION — legal aid specifically for immigration and asylum appeals during 2025/26.

💷 That's up from around £13.98 MILLION in 2021/22 — approximately a 51% increase.

💷 £5.81 MILLION — separately spent on interpreters for the Immigration and Asylum Chamber during 2025/26.

But there is one figure we DON'T have.

📍 HOW MUCH HAS ALL OF THIS COST SPECIFICALLY FOR RAF WETHERSFIELD?

How much legal aid has been paid for Wethersfield residents?

How many residents have received taxpayer-funded legal representation?

How much has been paid for solicitors to travel to the base?

How many cases have progressed to taxpayer-funded appeals or judicial reviews?

And what is the total public or grant funding for legal-support services being provided outside the base?

We know there are Braintree workshops.

We know the Government provides transport into Colchester where it explicitly says legal-aid services can be accessed.

We know legal-aid solicitors can travel to Wethersfield and claim reasonable travel time and costs.

We know remote legal aid is available.

We know Care4Calais provides legal-access support.

💷 Now we want to know the direct cost associated with RAF Wethersfield since it opened in July 2023.

The public deserves to see that figure.

I have so much love and appreciation for these people.

They are what I call true friends, they face so much backlash for simply looking to protect the most vulnerable.

I've started having the backlash myself now but I won't be broken.

When you come for one, you come for us all.

🚨 COURT UPDATE - MIGRANT FROM WETHERSFIELD MUQBIL AL DHAHERI NOW IN PRISON🚨

You may remember Muqbil Al Dhaeri was found guilty of sexual assault of a nurse in Broomfield hospital and public indecency.

He received just a 12 month community order and now a member of Stop the ses - Colchester revealed today he is now in prison and attended a court hearing via video link.

The court appearance took place today, 28 September, at Colchester Magistrates’ Court, with the defendant appearing by video link from prison. He appeared agitated and repeatedly shouted over the magistrate judge.

He is currently being held in prison following a plea hearing at Liverpool Crown Court earlier this month and has a further Crown Court hearing scheduled for February 2027 for charges unknown to the public.

Today’s Colchester hearing related to an alleged breach of the community order imposed in connection with his previous alcohol-related sexual assault case involving a nurse in Chelmsford.

The magistrates are now looking at postponing the breach proceedings until after the Liverpool Crown Court case has concluded.

At an earlier meeting, he also stated that the Home Office were looking to deport him.

The question is what crime has he commited to be imprisoned?

We will all continue to follow the court proceedings and report the facts as they develop.

🚨⚽ FA COACHING QUALIFICATIONS ARE BEING OFFERED AT RAF WETHERSFIELD

This is bigger than just football sessions.

Changing Lives Community Services says it is working at RAF Wethersfield with The Football Association and the Home Office.

And they’re not just organising en living at Wethersfield are being offered entry-level football coaching courses designed to help them:

⚽ Gain official qualifications
⚽ Build leadership skills
⚽ Learn how to plan and deliver coaching sessions
⚽ Start a coaching pathway in the UK

The closest standard FA course is the Introduction to Coaching Football qualification.

For an ordinary member of the public starting from scratch, the standard pathway can cost around:

£100 – coaching course
£30 – safeguarding
£30 – first aid

➡️ £160 per person

It’s generally open to anyone aged 16+,so local people can apply too.

But unless they qualify for funding like the migrants do they will have to pay full price themselves.

Meanwhile, public money has already been used to fund activities connected to RAF Wethersfield.

A £50,000 Home Office grant, administered through Braintree District Council, included:

💷 £10,750 for sports provision
💷 £7,650 for cricket coaching
💷 More than £14,000 for art activities
💷 Further funding for other community programmes

Changing Lives is one of the organisations delivering activities connected to the site.

RAF Wethersfield already has football pitches, cricket facilities, a gym and indoor sporting facilities.

And just a few miles away, Essex FA uses Notley High School in Braintree for official football coaching workshops.

Notley has hosted practical coach-development sessions before and has more scheduled.

There is currently no evidence that Wethersfield residents are being trained at Notley, however they have been seen playing football at the high school.

Changing Lives openly says the aim is to help residents gain qualifications and begin their “coaching journey in the UK.”

That is very different from simply providing recreational football.

The information still missing is simple:

How many people have qualified, which qualification are they getting, and who is paying the full cost?

If taxpayers are funding professional or vocational-style qualifications at RAF Wethersfield, the figures should be public.

🚨 LATEST FROM BRAINTREE – CARE4CALAIS DROP-IN

Footage from Thursday 17 September shows another Care4Calais event in Braintree, with three buses arriving and Charlotte Khan from Care4Calais there greeting migrants as they arrived.

Local residents, including pensioners, were esting while Operation Vanguard patrols were also seen in the area.

During the day, some migrants were seen swearing towards the pensioners protesting, while others appeared to challenge and threaten fellow migrants simply for stopping to speak with us.

This is what happened on the ground in Braintree.

Even NHS staff can pay to park at work.
ms transport is provided where necessary for Wethersfield residents to access services off-site.

Same hospital. Very different bill.

Why are fears of communities being ignored?
