Today, we finished cataloging a complete set of all US Nintendo 64 game releases.
I’ve personally always liked how the US box designs maintained a consistent color scheme along the spines, matching the colors of the buttons on the Nintendo 64 controller.
All games are now se with photos, making them easy to find and access whenever they are needed for reference.

Today we received a shipment from Japan containing the games we were still missing for the WonderSwan Color.
I have to admit that the WonderSwan Color is a system I haven’t been particularly familiar with, so it’s been interesting to take a closer look at its library. There cus on games based on anime and manga, but also plenty of other interesting titles to discover.
It’s always exciting to explore a system you don’t know much about, especially when it means filling another gap in the collection here at Embracer Games Archive.

When people visit Embracer Games Archive, we are often asked which games in the collection are both well known and particularly rare.
During a recent visit, we brought out a few of these objects and took the opportunity to photograph them.
Here are some of the more unusual games e.

Recently our archivist Natalia met @mdf200 Mike Dailly, one of the creators of the classic game Lemmings.
Mike has an impressive collection covering many different releases of the original game. That inspired Natalia to take a closer look at our own holdings when she returned to ering some of the versions we have in the collection, we could not resist putting them together for a photo

Natalia Kovalainen, Chief Archivist Games Archive:
- I had the opportunity to be part of a panel at the Playable Heritage conference at the National Museums of Scotland. A jam-packed day of talks and panels that showed the breadth of games preservation. Also the possibilities e.
A thought that I have had for a long time and that was once again reinforced is that there is no single way to preserve games. Games preservation has to be done together in different ways and by different actors. Our approaches might differ but together they allow us to preserve a more comprehensive part of our shared history and importantly make sure that it can be used and experienced today and in the future.
On a personal note I had the chance to meet two of my heroes. Creators of games that made me fall in love with games. The creators of Lemmings Mike Dailly and Beneath a Steel Sky Charles Cecil!
What a fantastic day!
Thanks Ukie, Nick Poole OBE and the National Museum of Scotland for inviting me to such a special and important day! @NtlMuseumsScot

Embracer Games Archive is celebrating 5 years!
It is hard to believe how quickly time has passed and how much has happened during these five years.
We have built the archive from the ground up, prepared the facilities and created a proper home for the collection.
Along the catalogued more than 90,000 objects. Today, every object in the archive is registered in our database with images.
But the archive is about much more than building a collection. Over these five years, we have supported exhibitions, researchers, schools and others interested in video game history. We have also provided material and support for new releases of older games, helping parts of gaming history become accessible again.
A lot has happened in five years, and there is still so much more we want to do.
Thank you to everyone who has supported, visited and contributed to Embracer Games Archive along the way. ❤️

At Embracer Games Archive, we preserve physical video games and work to make our collection a useful resource for game history and research.
This week, we’ve been busy processing and cataloguing a newly arrived collection of North American SEGA CD games.

We recently hosted a small, focused investor event at the Games Archive, organized by The Great Journey, bringing together people from across the games industry.
Big thanks to Rebecca Lauthner, Binni Erlingsson, and @martinlindell for a great fireside chat, and to everyone who is show how the Archive can also serve as a space for inspiration and meaningful conversations.

We recently welcomed two fourth grade classes to the archive as part of Pixelkonst i Värmland, in collaboration with Dataspelscentrum and The Great Journey. A hands on introduction to game history, pixel art and how games have evolved over time.

Over a longer period of time, publisher @RetroBitGaming has supported the archive with their titles. It’s wonderful to see classic games brought back to life in physical form. Big thanks for your support.

We may overuse the word cool in this video but these unusual game controllers from the archive make it hard not to say it.
Take a look at our latest video to see some of the stranger ones we preserve.

The archive continues to be a valuable resource, not just for preserving history but for supporting the grassroots communities that keep it alive.
Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming Per Bengtsson from the Swedish Commodore Club. During his visit, we worked on copying old e once distributed alongside issues of the Swedish club magazine Joystick. The cassette tapes contain games and software that members could submit themselves.
Commodore had a strong foothold in Sweden and efforts like these help ensure that an important part of that legacy is not lost.

Thomas, our Acquisitions Manager, is on-site at the archive this week. Since he normally works remotely it’s a special occasion for him to spend time in the archive. It gives him the chance to explore objects up close and engage with the material in a way that simply isn’t
