2026 could be the year to ‘Bring back the family Doctor’ @wesstreeting

To do so will require a patient centred GP contract with the vision & resources to genuinely bring quality, safe, focused care

This is in the hands of Govt @DHSCgovuk @NHSEngland

Time for some positivity!

Patients need GPs & GPs need the resources to provide care for them

A brand new contract that puts patients in the centre but provides the resources & flexibility GPs need

YOUR GP, HERE FOR YOU

There is a growing consensus

What has the ECHR ever done for us?

Quite a lot actually, and we (🇬🇧) wrote it too.

“Given many problems people have when they present to hospitals start with milder symptoms and could be prevented in many cases, this is a failure of planning.”

So my local FT - @UHMBT - has allegedly just told all its consultants they CANNOT book any further follow up appts for patients in their clinics. All clinics are now for ‘new’ patients. It’s an absolute outrage. What do patients do now for ongoing care. Yup - they come to us…..

….as their GP with no ability to limit demand or turn patients away. My colleagues are deflated/disgusted/resigned to it/working out their exit strategy. I hope @LSCICB act as they pay the Trust for all they do. Copying in @YvetteCooperMP @DHSCgovuk & @pulsetoday -it’s a new low

Just three years ago we had doctors on £29,384 per year by the way.
UK new minimum wage: £27,456 per year.

Higher-rate tax bracket: £50,270.

1.8x difference.

In 1997 there was a 5x difference.

Mind boggling.

Today, the Government has announced that local Healthwatch organisations and Healthwatch England will be retained and strengthened so that people's experiences play a greater role in improving health and social care services.

Beds … with the lowest number of hospital beds the NHS continues to cut them

The premise an empty bed cost £. They don’t, they provide flexibility, opportunity to admit someone while another bed is being emptied. Blocked A&E cancelled operations!

NHSE 5000 more permanent beds
the great and the good aren't so great and not so good when it comes to bed numbers.

It has happened again….infact twice!

The parents of sick children, who’ve been seen & assessed by a GP & require urgent assessment by a Paediatric Dr, are being told to take them to Paeds ED to join the queue TO BE TRIAGED.

This is 💯 not ok!

Plenty of private sector moaning in the media regarding the @BMA_Consultants industrial action on 25th & 26th November...

"But they're paid so well!"

An enlightening graph below from a @NuffieldTrust article. Nurses and midwives next?

I’ve recently been informed by my GP practice that the company which provides their online services has gone into administration so the system whereby the patient completes a form which is triaged and then they are contacted with an appt can’t now be used…
And so soon…
