The New York Post published an official UK marriage certificate for Ilhan Omar’s sister listing their father as “Nur Said Elmi,” a Somali military officer. That’s the same name pattern as her ex-husband and the name federal prosecutors are r has called her father an educator. Her sister’s 1997 certified marriage certificate lists him as Nur Said Elmi, military officer — the same man sources say served in Siad Barre’s army. The paper trail keeps contradicting her story.
Asked if she is related to her ex-husband Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, Omar said “not to my knowledge.” Her sister’s marriage certificate names their father as Nur Said Elmi, and federal filings list her as Ilhan Nur Said Elmi. The names match. Her answers don’t.
