Great piece, LLMs actually making more costly recommendations than docs. ai.nejm.org/doi/pdf/10.105…

Ever since COVID, patient messaging to docs have skyrocketed. Technically we're allowed (sometimes encouraged) to bill for the correspondence. nejm.org/doi/full/10.10… piece is a fun perspective piece on both sides of the coin.

This is the way! One of the (many) reasons I love @AmyGleason47 is her ability to mobilize stakeholders across the ecosystem willing to VOLUNTARILY engage in advancing safe, secure open standards - and creating a culture of meaningful collaboration.

Whoa.
William and Mary was down double digits to No. 7 Villanova with under a minute left to play.

Then this happened 🤯

Great read.
I agreed with much of the controversial @JAMA_current piece on autonomous AI by @ZekeEmanuel @vkhosla @nealkhosla & @AbeBakerButler. Given a clean set of clinical facts, AI will often beat MDs on dx & Rx.
But there's far more to the story. My new Substack:

Out of >1,350 medical AI's cleared or arrived by FDA, a total of 3 (0.2%) were tested for patient outcomes
only 34 (2.5%) linked to prospective, registered clinical trials

Good.
@EladSharonMD @NIHonger with JAMA, I can now say that the behind the pay wall journal model is dying. The future is an open access and pre-print servers followed by discussion of findings in blogs, etc.

better to have feedback from many people on the Internet than just a few peer reviewers and the journal editor to decide what gets published and how it is interpreted.

This is an EXCELLENT read.
My latest Substack: the irony of @ChatGPT Health's launch (it's awfully good) coming the same week as the first big lawsuit alleging a serious misdiagnosis caused by AI (in this case, GPT-4o).
What does it all mean for the future of patient-facing AI?

The standard behind medical prior authorization hasn't fundamentally changed since 1996 🏛️

But a proposed @CMSGov rule would require payers to use the same HL7 Da Vinci standards that EHRs already have to support under HTI-4.
