As Deputy Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, I visited the Uganda High Commission in London today. I am pleased to note that Uganda House at Trafalgar square which hosts the Commission, is set to undergo a comprehensive renovation this FY — the first ed the need to strengthen funding, administrative arrangements, and systems across our embassies to strengthen their mandate in economic cooperation and diplomacy. This will support Uganda’s tenfold growth strategy.

Government sponsorship into @Makerere and other Institutions of higher learning needs to be reformed. The district quota system should dominate with 75% of all admissions and the national merit system 25%. Science courses should be made deliberately available at 50% of district way Ugandans will develop interest in rural schools and stop the haemorrhage of would be wealth creation resources into fees. Hon. Kabaasa’s position seems to anger School owners especially those for big schools. They reduced academics to competing on who gets more students on national merit. But what about their bright students who miss university because their parents can’t afford the private scheme?

.@Makerere will be launching its strategic plan 2025/2030 this Thursday. The Hon. @musasizi will preside. The @Educ_SportsUg needs to consider abolishing Government Sponsorship to universities and instead expand the student’s Loan Scheme.
