I've analysed Manchester Unitedās comeback victory over Roma last night for @BetweenThePosts. In the article, I explored the following tactical themes:
- Roma's man-man pressure paying off early.
- The visitors targeting the space behind Dalot during counter-attacks.
- United's structure.
- Carrickās tactical changes.
- United's second half turnaround.
I'm also considering a YouTube video for @Thinkingtactics on this game as well.

Diagonal dropping movements from Odegaard to get free against Liverpool's high press early on
In Liverpool's man-to-man scheme, the idea was for Mac Allister and Nyoni to mark Guimaraes and Rice
Then van Dijk (LCB) should jump to Odegaard (usually in the right halfspace)
egaard move over towards the left halfspace, meaning van Dijk would have to move a large distance as well as cross over with Jacquet in order to follow, which he was initially hesitant to do
Arsenal then had a +1 in midfield
Big factor in helping Arsenal settle into the game in the first twenty minutes

Derby della Madonnina analysis, I discuss:
- How Milan's buildup worked to get past Inter's midfield line.
- Inter missed the diagonal cover.
- ModriÄ commands; ĆalhanoÄlu/Barella struggle.
- Inter's rigid right-side rotations.
- Chivu too late on subs.

Analysis of Lille-Lens is up on @BetweenThePosts for subscribers.
- Lens fairly passive in the first half, allowing Lille to dominate high up the pitch.
- A more aggressive second half creates a game of transitions.
- Giroud's still got it.

OGC NiceāStade Rennais analysis now up on @BetweenThePosts.
I look at Rennesā attempts to overload the midfield against Niceās back five, the recurring issues with their pressing references and how Wahiās ability to exploit long balls and physical mismatches helped Les Aiglons punish them on the way to a 5ā2 win.

(FREE) Napoli - Roma analysis. I discuss:
- Why Napoliās deep rotations no longer work.
- Politano + Di Lo can still provide in final third.
- Ultra width made wider by Gasperini.
- The SoulƩ switch to middle.
- Roma rest defence creates frantic finish.

One thing that improved in Real Madridās game against Leipzig was their right-side wide combinations, which PSG relied on to exploit Barcelona's wide channels & space behind their backline.
It was through baiting the winger forward, which triggered the ball-side FB to press up his hen, the dominoes fell.
The FB's jump is followed by one of the DPs shifting across to cover behind. So, you have an overload in midfield to work the ball out down the flanks. Then you commit a FB (Hakimi/Valverde) running late to avoid the offside trap and expose the spaces in behind.

Analysis of Manchester City - PSG is up on @BetweenThePosts and itās free!
It was the fabled game of two halves. PSG at their impressive best in the 1st. City made their changes and really could have rescued a result.

Two of Serie A's most interesting teams = the first goalless draw in the league. I discuss:
- Both teams lateral, to play vertical.
- Como wants the +1.
- Roma triple-width, Dybala only access to runners.
- Poor 2nd half from Como v 10.

Interesting result in the Bundesliga this weekend as Augsburg held Bayern Munich to a 2-2 draw. There were a few interesting tactical points which I've analysed in the piece for @BetweenThePosts (available for subscribers). One of those aspects, as covered in the images below, o create separation after baiting Bayern's man-man press. By utilising deep runs, they tried to create advantages by capitalising on potential lapse of defensive concentration from the opposition forwards. For Augsburg's second goal, Olise and Davies were both susceptible to this. For those who want to and can access the 1.8k+ word report, I've attached the link below.

- French counterpress, why they can leave -1s laterally.
