Being Human is for people of faith who are pro-choice or uncertain about the Christian witness on abortion. It traces the universal church—Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant—on abortion’s morality and the pastoral call to women in unexpected pregnancy.

A friend of mine, a longtime NDP member — so disheartened with the party's progressivism and fiscal irresponsibility — sent me this 'dance of joy' after the BC Conservative win.

Turn up the volume. 🎶

Ideological capture—whether on the left or on the right—can eclipse one’s benevolence and even humanity.

BC Greens leader Emily Lowan’s prepared speech—and her Freudian slip (parapraxis) regarding opposing the “existence” of Conservatives—are revealing and dark.

This reminds me of the various adages which suggest that conservatives tend to oppose progressive ideas as wrong or misguided, while progressives tend to oppose conservatives themselves as bad or evil people.

Her podium read, “Believe in better.”

Another massacre today.

Why? The Quran and Islam—the “religion of peace” according to Western progressives—permit and even praise the killing of kafirun (disbelievers), mushrikūn (polytheists), and People of the Book (Jews and Christians) if Muslims so choose.

Since 9/11, r 48,000 Islamic terror attacks in nearly 70 countries. For some unfathomable reason, progressives continue to yawn.

Fact-checked—it’s true. The Glasgow City Council, to no one’s surprise, is ideologically progressive.

The Egyptian artifacts and mummified remains are up to 5,000 years old. So it may prove difficult to track down their living relatives to obtain the required written consent.

A brief clip of Dr. Sarah Irving-Stonebraker’s personal journey from atheism to Christianity. She is Associate Professor of History and Western Civilization at Australian Catholic University and is currently a visiting scholar at both Cambridge and Oxford.
Historian @ProfStonebraker thought she'd achieved the life of a happy and intellectually fulfilled atheist at the start of her academic career, until she encountered the ideas of New Atheists @PeterSinger and @RichardDawkins. This led her to question her assumptions and, Christian faith!

A good read. The thread comments are interesting as well. Many essentially agree with MacDonald saying this is another wake-up call on progressive media-bias framing. Many others saying there’s nothing to see here, folks—just move along.
The mainstream media are fuming. Marine Le Pen, head of France’s most popular party, National Rally, is exploiting the French riots for her political advantage, the media grouse. Le Pen and her right-hand man, Jordan Bardella, portray the riots as the confirmation of everything they have been warning about for years, especially regarding Third World immigration. This is a ruse, complains the press and its establishment sources, a mere rhetorical trick.

A front-page article in today’s New York Times quotes a political scientist at Paris’s Sciences Po: “The picture of France emerging this morning, in light of all the destruction, plays well into their hands.”

The Wall Street Journal sounds the same note today: “The social instability over the weekend absolutely plays into Le Pen’s campaign that the establishment has delivered chaos,” said Mujtaba Rahman, from the risk analysis firm Eurasia Group.

Even the papers’ headlines echo each other: “France’s Far Right Seizes the Moment as Rioting Stuns the Country” (New York Times); “Marine Le Pen Seizes on French Chaos to Present Herself as Leader in Waiting” (Wall Street Journal).

It is necessary to deconstruct these far-right narratives; thankfully, the press is there to help us. The violence “perfectly aligned with the image the National Rally has long painted of a France divided into two and battling for survival,” a political science professor at the University of Nice, Côte d’Azur told the New York Times.

The Wall Street Journal writes that the “far-right” Le Pen has “cast” France as a nation adrift, “buffeted by waves of immigration and lawlessness that have torn at the country’s social fabric.”

It is mere coincidence that that image of a divided, degraded France constructed by the National Rally and the violence on the streets seem to align. That alignment does not mean that the National Rally was right, just that its demagogy was opportune.

But the waves of hate-filled destruction crashing over France’s once great cities validate Le Pen and Bardella’s diagnosis of France’s demographic catastrophe, not as narrative but as empirical fact. The Wall Street Journal again tries to dismiss Le Pen’s prognostications as a rhetorical maneuver: “Le Pen’s anti-immigration stance...gives her another way to frame the unrest. Le Pen has cast the unrest as the work of far-left radicals allied with youths from France’s banlieues, the poor urban outskirts where much of the country’s minority Muslim population resides.” How else would the Journal “cast” the “unrest?” As the work of lavender harvesters from Provence?

The elite effort at euphemism is by now desperate: “The looting drew attention to a segment of the population—specifically young people from certain neighborhoods, some of whom are from immigrant backgrounds,” pollster Adélaïde Zulfikarpasic told the Journal. “And that hits the themes at the heart of National Rally’s rhetoric.”

A conversation on German public media station ZDF yesterday between the ever-pinched and purse-lipped anchor Marietta Slomka and a French academic in Bonn referred delicately to the “decades-long problem” of poverty, concentration, and “integration” in the Plattenbauten (the concrete slab housing projects) around Paris. The problem is not “integration,” which suggests a failing in the host country, however, it is large-scale Third World immigration, which has turned many of these projects into no-go zones. And now that local anarchy is spreading.

If naming a deliberate attack on Western civilization by those who feel only resentment and envy earns one the title of far-right extremist or racist, so be it. The mayhem in France is not rhetoric, it is reality. And the National Rally’s law enforcement and deportation proposals are precisely what France and the rest of Europe need today.

𝗢𝗵, 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗮. 𝗢𝗵, 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆. 🇨🇦 🇫🇷

How is it that our Canadian government has chosen not to make a public statement on the ongoing horrific events in France?

Up to 1,000 police and first responders injured. Some 1,500 retail stores damaged or looted—particularly ildings attacked or set on fire.

Silence.

Grok fact-check as of today:

Searches of news reports, the Prime Minister’s official site (pm.gc.ca), Global Affairs Canada materials, and social media (including Carney’s account) turn up no comments, readouts, or statements from Carney, any deputy-level figure, or senior Canadian officials specifically addressing the French events.

First, not all cultures are equal.

Second, where are the absentee politicians, police, and parents of these out-of-control adolescents and young adults with darkened hearts? They are complicit in the rising chaos, antisemitism, assaults, and the rampant desecration and destruction.

First, the human condition—our sin nature—is on full display: darkened hearts.

Second, not all cultures are equal.

Third, where have the absentee politicians, police, and parents of these out-of-control, darkened-hearted adolescents and young adults been? They are complicit in the rising chaos, criminal behaviour, assaults, and rampant destruction and desecration of property and Western historic architecture.

During eight years in the Gulag camps, Solzhenitsyn confronted a defiled heart within himself and underwent a profound personal and spiritual awakening:

“In the intoxication of youthful successes I had felt myself to be infallible, and I was therefore cruel. In the surfeit of power I was a murderer, and an oppressor. In my most evil moments I was convinced that I was doing good, and I was well supplied with systematic arguments.

And it was only when I lay there on rotting prison straw that I sensed within myself the first stirrings of good. Gradually it was disclosed to me that the line separating good and evil passes not through states, nor between classes, nor between political parties either—but right through every human heart—and through all human hearts.”
🚨 BREAKING: France's historic Limoges town hall (143 years old) COLLAPSES after leftist-Islamist aligned rioters set it on fire, and POLICE DO NOTHING

FRANCE IS FALLING. This is symbolic.

It opened in 1883, and it's stood for 143 years.

🚨BREAKING: The historic Limoges town hall has just completely collapsed after far-left rioters set it on fire

It was built in 1876. It survived World Wars. It did not survive modern France.

𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐠𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬.

“Geography has made us neighbours. History has made us friends. Economics has made us partners. And necessity has made us allies. Those whom nature hath so joined together, let no man put asunder.” edy 🇺🇸

“A threat to the United States is a threat to Canada, to our trade, to our interests, to our values and to our common civilization. Canada has no friends among America’s enemies. And America has no better friend than Canada.” —Prime Minister Stephen Harper 🇨🇦

Rhetoric and posturing aside, the primary reason the trade negotiations are stalled appears to be a red line held by both sides on the percentages for auto tariff relief. A resolution is doable.

If of interest, here is an abridged fact-check summary by “dispassionate” AI Grok on the impasse.
_______

𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆’𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀:

Prime Minister Mark Carney said he instructed negotiators to return to Ottawa late on August 21, 2026, because last-minute U.S. terms were “unfair, uneconomic, and called into question the reliability of any deal.” He summarized that the U.S. “asked too much and offered too little” and was not committed to a “true economic partnership.”

Specific points he and Canadian officials cited include:

• Autos: An exclusion of medium- and heavy-duty trucks (e.g., certain Ford F-series and GM Silverado models made in Ontario) from the planned reduction of the headline auto tariff from 25% to 15%. Canadian officials said this was a late change from an understanding covering the full automotive sector. Related issues involved the treatment of Canadian content/parts.

• Other trade deals / sovereignty: Language introduced in the final hours that would restrict Canada’s ability to conclude trade agreements with third countries.

• Language and culture: Ongoing U.S. pressure on French-language protections, bilingual product labeling, French media discoverability on platforms, and related cultural supports—issues Carney called unacceptable from the start and a threat to sovereignty.

• Broader insufficient movement on steel, aluminum, and related products (sources indicated a proposed cut of 50% tariffs to 25% with quotas was viewed as inadequate).

𝗨.𝗦. 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀:

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, and others, including Vice President JD Vance, said Canada introduced new demands or walk-backs at the last minute after a near-deal, or “wanted more.”

Key claims:

• On trucks: Lutnick stated that the words “medium- and heavy-duty trucks” were raised only on Friday at about 4 p.m. (hours before the deadline) and that this was a deliberate move to blow up the talks. He said it had not come up in his earlier meetings with Canadian counterparts. Greer has described additional Canadian requests after a tentative framework was reached.

• Political motives: Lutnick alleged Canada “blew it up for political reasons only,” citing domestic politics around Quebec’s provincial election/sovereignty issues and Alberta independence sentiment, to gain political advantage by confronting the U.S. He claimed a Canadian minister essentially confirmed this when asked.

• Greer described the U.S. offer (tariff reductions on steel, aluminum, autos, and lumber, plus the suspension of certain other tariffs) as the “best deal” available to any country and said Canada’s additional asks or implementation concerns scuttled it. He has denied seeking a veto over Canada’s other trade deals (characterizing related discussions around “Fortress North America” or transshipment concerns differently) and downplayed the cultural issues.

𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗳𝘂𝗹?

Neither side’s public account is fully independent or verifiable from the outside; this is a classic dispute over negotiating details, with both governments having incentives to spin.

No full texts of the draft offers have been released.

There are racists in all races. Ms. Sharma is one such example. That said, I think Thomas Sowell frames it well:

“Racism is not dead, but it is on life support — kept alive by politicians, race hustlers, and people who get a sense of superiority by denouncing others as racists.”
BC Attorney General and Deputy Premier Niki Sharma thinks you support Trump if you are white:

“White Canadians, we need to know now—do we have to worry about you?”

“I worry that you can too easily find comfort in your privilege and wrap it around you like a blanket”
