I don’t know what to say anymore. As doctors, we can’t stop a genocide and we can’t end a famine.
We provided a diagnosis - genocide.
We provided a prescription to end the genocide - for Canada to end its complicity and direct involvement in Israel’s crimes now.

"Even if Gaza were provided with the finest tents, they would not last through the winter. What people are waiting for is a political solution that makes their lives less catastrophic, not another season of temporary aid."
لو تم تجهيز غزة بأفضل الخيام فلن تصمد حتى آخر الشتاء، ما ينتظره الناس هو حل سياسي يجعل حياتهم أقل كارثية، بدل المساعدات الموسمية.

Palestinian children now enduring their fourth winter of this! Fourth.
As heavy rain & cold hit #Gaza, families and their #children are facing devastating conditions in makeshift tents with little protection.
@UNICEF is doing what we can to support but much more needs to be done.
Access for all aid & more funding is vital. Children cannot wait.

This whole conversation is incredible, and a reminder that we’ve never seen Pierre Poilievre or Mark Carney communicate policy on this level.
David Cochrane and Avi Lewis discuss affordable housing: "I do not have a scintilla of faith in right-wing governments that have been slashing social services and driving people onto the streets to actually provide adequate wraparound services if the feds pay for the housing."

If you're a billionaire, this budget is Christmas come early.
Canadians are struggling with the cost of everything — groceries, rent, medication, and everything in between. But this budget only makes it easier for the same corporations fuelling the crisis to profit even more.

Canada’s federal budget is out on Thursday and will likely be a corporate wishlist of weapons, AI, fossil fuels, and tax cuts.
But the @ccpa has crunched the numbers to propose an alternative federal budget for working people.
Saima Desai runs through 10 of their proposals.

A dear fellow activist, Jeff Houlahan, passed away on October 14, 2026, age 67. What an immense loss for our world. He dedicated so much time and energy to love and solidarity work, including for Palestine. He was working on this initiative right before his passing. I hope you ️🩹
“Writing the names of the murdered children of Gaza is a simple act that any of us can do. Azeer Al-Shaair writes a name on tape that he places on his face when he plays for the Houston Texans of the NFL. We write a name on a stone and place the stone conspicuously around our communities. We write the murdered child’s name on one side of the stone and “killed by Israel” on another side. We do this to honour and remember the murdered children of Gaza. And to remind people that children continue to be murdered everyday in Gaza.” - Jeff Houlahan

One of the precious memories I have now from visiting Cuba was meeting the therapeutic clowns at the William Soler Pediatric Hospital. As part of the Mariposa Brigade we brought many suitcases of medical supplies, infant formula, and medications to this children’s hospital. The as made treating pediatric patients in this hospital increasingly challenging because of the fuel shortages and lack of essential supplies.
Meeting and playing with the therapeutic clowns at the William Soler Pediatric Hospital reminded me of my training with Molly-Penny the therapeutic clown when I was in medical school. When there are things beyond our control, sometimes it’s important to find joy and laughter even in the most difficult moments. Kindness and care can sometimes be the best medicine. There is something deeply moving to see fellow healthcare workers valuing the importance of love as a practice of humanity in our work in medicine both within the hospital setting and beyond. And solidarity work is an expression of our love for humanity and commitment to collective liberation. Let Cuba live! 🇨🇺

When I spent time in Cuba a bit over a week ago, one of the really special moments was meeting Palestinian medical graduates, Dr. Ihab and Dr. Motee, with my friend Rania who was also on the Mariposa Brigade with me.
Cuba has been training medical students from all over the ors on medical brigades to support communities in need around the world. While facing an immensely difficult U.S. blockade, the Cuban medical system continues to train medical students from all over the world.
Meeting medical students who are training to be doctors who understand their role to advocate for changing the social and political root causes of disease and illness affecting the populations they care for, was deeply inspiring and hopeful for a practice of medicine that is grounded in international solidarity and a shared love for collective humanity and liberation.

Last week I was in Cuba. We bore witness to the impacts of the over six decades long U.S. blockade and siege on the people of Cuba. We brought donated medical supplies, medications, and other essential items but this is not a sustainable solution.
The people of Cuba are here is a dire lack of energy and fuel, leading to blackouts and water shortages. Food costs are high, people can’t afford to feed their families. Medication is unavailable or on extremely short supply.
This blockade maintained by the U.S. must end. Today there was a United Nations resolution on condemning the economic embargo imposed on Cuba. Canada must do more to support the people of Cuba as they continue to suffer the consequences of Western imperialism and interference with their sovereignty, independence, and self-determination. Let Cuba live! 🇨🇺

So very grateful for the birthday wishes. So much love to all the people who I have befriended on this magnificent journey we call life. The world can be a scary place with injustices everywhere we look, but the extraordinary people I’ve met along the way show me a different e - one that is filled with joy, laughter, and care. I’m so thankful for my parents who brought me into this world and taught me to not take myself or anything ever too seriously, and most importantly to be a good human being to others on this shared planet we call home. ❤️
