We give the government our tax dollars each year trusting that they will use that money for good reasons, to make our lives better.
The fact that roughly 530,000 Americans go medically bankrupt every year is shameful. And the money we owe - much of it to foreign countries - is e.
We need leaders in Congress who will make hard choices about what we can afford and what we need, and be truthful about where our money is going.

We see it here where women are routinely exposed to sexualized insults, and the ultimate insult for men is some sort of slur that compares them to women or female body parts.
🧵 So I wrote the Wired story on the burnerverse, and as part of my reporting, I spent months reading and listening to the convos 20-something men have when they think no one is looking.
It's easy to dismiss the Cornell 7 as outliers, or super privileged frat bros, or byproducts of the Greek system. They're not.
It's also easy to say they're the worst-case scenario. That they represent the nadir of toxic masculinity, or a culture that teaches men from an early age that young women's bodies are disposable. But they don't.
That Snapchat thread? That's the norm. That's the baseline. That type of language is EXTREMELY consistent with the convos these guys are having when they think no one is paying attention. Because most of the time, no one is.

Remember when folks were enamored with Trump because they wanted some to run the country, "like a business?" Do you understand why that's a terrible idea yet? A business is to make money, good government is to make life better for the people, these are mutually exclusive goals.
