New Roadbeacon out, and finally a way to test delivery through MeshCore, also with Roadstr
The story: Roadbeacon (formerly Roadstr) and another independent Roadstr app created a way to report road events for navigation, through Nostr. Of course.
Then we converged the protocol (we landed on new Roadstr app's) and created a way to convert the road reports to MeshCore channel data packets, which can be delivered to mesh, but they can also be loslessly tranformed back to Nostr events (including original signatures).
Now everything converged and you can test it!
Grab your node, install an experimental build of MeshCore Open, which allows locally installed apps on phone to talk through it to the radio - otherwise you would be off the chat, you would have to choose which app uses the radio. Inspiration for this comes from the wonderful Reticulum project, where any Reticulum app would serve the network stack for all the other apps, so there is one Bluetooth connection to the Lora node, but all apps can access it.
My PR (github.com/zjs81/meshcore…) added this feature to the MeshCore Open app.
So what you can do now is install an experimental build of MeshCore Open that supports this, install one of Roadbeacon or Roadstr and you can report road events through radio (enable in settings), for distributed, decentralized event reporting through MeshCore network, without internet! And if you have access to the internet, you can bridge both ways.
Full testing guide, with links to APKs: jooray.github.io/roadbeacon/mes…

It's 2026 and software companies still don't understand what's going on:
1. From time to time, software companies contact us by email saying they have a super cool product or service that knows this, this, this and this (they list it all in detail). And in our case, we would especially appreciate this.
I politely thank them for "providing the exact specification" and immediately pass it on to the AI agent to program and test it.
2. What's completely bizarre is that both of our paid services that we use to issue crypto-friendly invoices (app.request.finance and zaprite.com) decided to introduce an extra fee for using their API interface in 2026 (apparently because people started using agents).
In the case of app.request.finance, API access stopped working for us completely. They decided to charge 600 USD/month for access to the API interface!
Zaprite just sent us an invoice for 140 USD for last month for using their API.
Claude just wrote to me that he will write and fully test a fully functional alternative for app.request.finance and Zaprite in a few hours and tomorrow we can migrate to it and cancel the subscription to both services.
Do software companies have any idea what is going on?

France has approved a proposal for a new €0.055 tax per GB of internet traffic, and game downloads could be affected.
If GTA 6 ends up being around 218 GB, downloading it could cost €12 in tax under the proposal.
The tax could also affect other big game downloads and Netflix and YouTube.
However, it’s not law yet. The proposal still needs to pass through the remaining legislative process in France.

Argentina and Bolivia are on a completely different level when it comes to crypto adoption. Europe is in the crypto Stone Age.
With the Takenos app takenos.com you can pay any Argentine or Bolivian QR code. I use it everywhere in Argentina and so far I haven't needed cash or a card anywhere. You top it up with USDC/USDT stablecoins via Polygon, BNB Smart Chain, Tron or Ethereum. Via Polygon it's almost free and instant.
Besides Argentina and Bolivia, you can also pay by QR code in Brazil, Peru and Colombia.
You can use Takenos as a foreigner too (I verified with my Paraguayan cédula). There are plenty of similar apps here (Meru, El Dorado, Bitget Wallet...). People with an Argentine DNI also have a ton of other crypto apps (Lemon, Belo) that let them pay with crypto anywhere in Argentina.
In Latin America, especially in these countries, you can actually live on crypto.
100% legal.
No MiCA, no DAC-8, none of the legislative nonsense that makes crypto unusable in the EU.
No need for hacks like Bitblik that banks and regulators hate.
Unfortunately, Europeans don't have this option. They're waiting for a centralized digital euro built for surveillance.

IMPORTANT: If you bought a Trezor from CryptoBilis from March 2026 onwards and are using it to store funds, please move your funds to a newly created wallet with a new seed as soon as possible.
If you have a device you are unsure of, DM me. I'll happily cover shipping fees and analyze your device.

Every empire in history has required humans to function.
In an AGI future, that will no longer be true.
The decisions made over the next decade will determine what that means for us as a species.
