best domain broker in the game right now @rob
I updated the article to include confirmation that the domain name was acquired.

@rob from @snagged represented the buyer for this domain name acquisition.

leading indicator
Remember the Starbucks effect? It's faded: homes near a Starbucks are worth just 16% more than otherwise similar places. Meet the Club Pilates effect: homes nearby are 64% higher.

everything is ads and shopping
The new shopping tool is available in the U.S. across Google Search and the Gemini app.

the dead internet is here

we've all forgotten, but social media didn't start off as social media

they started off as social networks

the internet used to be a place where we could connect with our friends, to keep in contact with them, to feel closer to them

at some point social networks changed and it all became social media

it became more about media and content than connection

you used to be able to open instagram and see friends, but then you started seeing strangers

what's happening right now is far worse

you can't even be sure you're seeing another person

57%+ of all internet traffic is now bots, it's clear the internet isn't for humans anymore

physical spaces, offline communities, and the real world are where people are gravitating towards

where people go value always follows
New: The biggest trend I'm hearing at Advertising Week is not creators or AI — it's the return of real-world ads.

The shift reflects a new truth: As the internet becomes less trustworthy, less trafficked, and more mediated by AI, physical space is becoming more valuable.

everything on the internet eventually becomes commerce and ads

where instinct seems to be getting it wrong is assuming people want to use instinct to shop

agents are going to great at a lot of things: canceling forgotten subscriptions, disputing traffic tickets, getting out of jury duty, filing a complaint to fix a pot hole, etc.

anything you would consider to be a chore, just have your agent do it

shopping (and discovery) though are leisure activities, they're things that people do for fun

you wouldn't have your agent daydream for you, so why would you have your agent shop for you?
I don’t mind the unprompted ‘feature alert’, but recommending a purchase out of nowhere felt intrusive, like an ad.

there's a lesson here
I almost never go to Starbucks these days, but when I do it is a surreal experience standing in an empty store and watching the barista make a bunch of drinks for people who are not yet in the store before making yours

and y'all really think people want agents shopping for them?
The final frontier of consumerism has arrived in South Korea.

three things will continue to be true:

1) the internet will be for bots, agents, and ai

2) people will gravitate even more towards the real world, offline communities, and human connection

3) shopping (and discovery) continues to be a human leisure activity

$2T in firepower behind muse and my entire feed is just people using it to dispute bills and claims
People download apps to solve core human needs (1) finding love, (2) making or saving money, and (3) play. People rarely take time out of their day for anything else.

customers are offline in the real world
X is full of founders.

LinkedIn is full of experts.

TikTok is full of creators.

Where are the customers?

i open instagram and don't see friends anymore

we also have a 9 month old and leisure time is non existent nowadays

work
family time
sleep

and if there's enough left over i'm able to squeeze in a handful of workouts a week

i don't know if i have enough time (or care?) for reinvented social media

but i do miss my friends and pretty much only see them if we go on a run or do a workout together IRL
Being contrarian is how startups win.

When everyone is building an ai lab, go and reinvent social media.

I am convinced that something in this category will explode soon. Why?

There is currently no place to be social with your friends online!!

Instagram is feed of strangers, TikTok is feed of strangers; so is Twitter, etc…

The current solution for engaging with friends and family is *a bunch of group chats*, which is horrible UX for sharing photos / capturing moments.
