went to visit a friend who’s a ceramicist and works in a studio with no phone signal in a tiny yorkshire village. he doesn’t listen to podcasts or music, only occasionally uses the radio, and when I asked him what he thinks about all day he just said “well, pots mostly”

I can’t really explain this, but onomatopoeically vermillion should be a shade of green

We have to move on from theological, philosophical, psychological or biological determinism. Power dictates the moral output of an emotion. Emotions, feelings, thoughts, and any human condition is dependant on contextual relationships, there's no universal truth.

Anger and hate is frequently policed as destructive, yet they're also often the necessary catalyst for collective action and social change against destructive forces. Conversely, anger and hate wielded by the powerful against the vulnerable functions as a tool of intimidation.

There is no emotion, disposition or any human condition that has a fixed moral value. Their impact depends entirely on the power dynamics and context in which they exist. Resentment can be a profound expression of moral awareness, refusal to accept wrongdoings and empowerment.

The concept of forgiveness "purifying" and resentment "rotting" is rooted in theological justification of abuses. Anger and resentment do not "rot" you, forgiveness doesn't "purify" you. They emerge in contextual relationships, resentment can be virtue and forgiveness can rot you
the main reason why they tell you to forgive is so you’re not holding resentment that literally rottens you overtime it has nothing to do with coddling or accepting the person

Tradition isn’t a museum piece. It’s built to be lived in.
