Dear Friends,
I never wanted to become a doctor. I always wanted to write and tell stories. And yet, over the years, medicine gave me the most extraordinary stories I could never have imagined - stories that lived in hospital corridors, outpatient rooms and inside terrifying hands of a father carrying his jaundiced daughter, in the silence between a prognosis spoken and a family's world shattered.
Today, I am proud and deeply moved to announce my first book, The Liver Doctor: Stories of Love, Loss and Regeneration, published by @HarperCollinsIN .
This book is where my two worlds finally collide.
My childhood love for writing and telling stories. And my adultdhood, as a medical doctor.
Through the lives of real patients and their families - their courage, their grief, their impossible choices - I tell the story of the most misunderstood, most indispensable, and only self-regenerating organ in the human body: the liver.
But this is not just a medical book. It is a journey through ancient myth and modern science, through Prometheus and Wilson's disease, through Mesopotamian clay tablets and liver transplant waiting lists, through the history of healing itself.
I wrote it for doctors, so they may remember why they chose this life. I wrote it for patients and families, so they may know when to fight and when to find peace. I wrote it for myself, to make peace with what I have lost and what I will lose.
This book shoulders that one truth I have learned in all my years at the clinical bedside: I did not become a doctor to help people cheat death, but to help them understand it.
This book is my offering - to medicine, to storytelling, and to you. Lose yourself in these pages, as I have.
Pre-orders are open now

This is Ayurveda Swarnabhasma (gold treatment) leading to severe nerve toxicity and a 30 year old nearly bedridden.
Here is the real event about a man who's son became a patient after using Ayurveda for mang years because he believed in it. Belief is not evidence.
I have been Ayurveda is a pseudoscience and it's practitioners are not doctors, but only ignorant, overconfident and arrogant people who have been legitimised only because of Govt. endorsement of this utter nonsense in the name of traditional medicine.
I have spoken about this for so many years. I published peer reviewed scientific data on this for so many years. But people kept calling me anti-Hindu, anti-National, Christian Missionary and propagandist. But when it comes to their family getting affected, it suddenly becomes pseudoscience and dangerous.
Ayurvedic treatments are based on blind faith, nationalism, mythology, primal observations and deep rooted religiousity. There is zero science to it. Hope this young man gets better and we don't create more patients like him.
India maybe the "mother" of democracy, but Ayurveda is definitely the Mother of all Pseudosciences.
Stop falling for government endorsed quackery.

I want to thank everyone for engaging with and amplifying this post here and on Instagram (where it went above 1M views) about my junior, Dr Randall Sequeira, a tribal medicine doctor who was jailed for serving adivasi communities in forsaken hills of Odisha and battling corporates looking to destroy the environment.
instagram.com/p/DeuOATzgQIq/…
As a result of our efforts, Dr. Randall was able to speak to his mother over phone from the jail.
I got to know that, the first thing this doctor of the hills, told his mother was "Sorry".
This is mind numbing.
He is apologizing for doing what was right and getting punished for it.
He is apologizing for standing up to destructive powers and apologizing for it.
He is apologizing for making preventative care the norm instead of therapeutic damage control.
What has this country become in the last decade or so?
Doctors have to apologise for serving the underserved.
Public safety advocates have to apologise for trying to save the environment.
Healthcare activists have to apologise for standing up for primary care.
Youth has to apologise for demanding impartiality and quality of life.
On my post, there was a sudden increase in quotes (concentrated on 23 October 2026, around 18:28–19:22 IST), a tightly clustered set of posts that shared a highly uniform style, argument structure, and framing and consisted of accounts that were predominantly:
- Indian, with heavy nationalist/Hindu cultural markers.
- Blue-verified in many cases, with follower counts typically in the low tens of thousands.
- Bios frequently feature: “Proud Indian,” “Nationalist,” “Sanatani,” “Jai Jai Shri Ram” / “जय श्री राम,” Indian flag emojis, “राष्ट्रहित सर्वोपरि,” “कट्टर राष्ट्रवादी,” “Sanatan Dharma,” “Radhey Radhey,” or similar. Examples: @Shrish_1987, @Shankarsingh992, @imRohit_IND, @ShagunX_, @PJha_666.
- Not primarily medical, environmental, or activist accounts, but general political/social media commentators or supporters aligned with pro-government/nationalist narratives.
These accounts are largely supportive of mining corporates Adani and Vedanta and pro-Govt. None of them provided any clear rebuttals.
Nationalism means being proud of the country and not being proud of becoming lapdogs of the government.
In a better world, a doctor wouldn't be jailed for standing up for rights of the underserved and treating them with compassion and empathy.
Idiots claiming Dr. Randall was converting tribals into Christians are thinking and responding from their pelvises, not brains. Religion is the last refuge of scoundrels. And India is full of them. It's a fcking shame.
Medicine is also about environmental health and social justice. It's not just diagnosis and treatment.
The government must release the good doctor and stop criminalizing healthcare activism because it doesn't feed and bulk their greedy interests.

My dear friends, please, I hope to demand your absolute attention to this matter:
In 2018, my junior from St. John’s Medical College, Bengaluru, Dr. Randall Sequeira (middle in the pic), trekked up a steep, bauxite-rich plateau in Odisha to hold a monsoon health camp in the village of Kutrumali.
In a piece he wrote then titled "Kutrumali’s Demons," Randall described sleeping under a dripping school roof in freezing fog, borrowing utensils from a local health worker to cook khichdi, and waking up at 6 AM to a line of tribal mothers. He wrote with heartbreak about treating malnourished toddlers with protruding bellies and visible ribs, listening to stories of stillbirths and chronic fevers, while noticing the shiny new solar lights installed by a mining conglomerate eyeing the aluminium ore beneath the villagers' feet.
Comparing his small medical team to hobbits sheltering in the night, Randall worried about the outside forces coming for that fragile village.
Randall stayed with the tribal/ adivasi community to serve them. After St. John’s and an MD in Internal Medicine from SMS Jaipur, he gave up every comfort of urban medicine to live in Kalahandi, recognizing that clinical prescriptions are meaningless when indigenous communities are stripped of their forests, water, and dignity.
On the night of October 16, Odisha police picked up Dr. Randall Sequeira and Dalit activist Laxman Naik at 11 PM from his home in Bhawanipatna. A gentle physician who has spent years trekking up hills to save tribal children is now locked in Rayagada sub-jail under frivolous but draconian charges (attempt to murder, dacoity), simply for standing with Adivasis peaceful protesting the mining of their sacred hills in Sijimali and Kutrumali.
thewire.in/rights/randall…
Odisha Govt. said it will cut down forests to connect tribal villages. But it was a way to bypass green laws and fast track London based Vedanta’s, and Adani's mining plans. Local organisations estimate that around 45 villages depend on these hills and would be affected.
reporters-collective.in/trc/odishas-ro…
The state has answered with repression rather than dialogue. In the last three years, at least 43 police cases have been filed and over a hundred Adivasis and Dalits, both women and men, have been incarcerated in Odisha jails. For example, from In March and april 2026, 8, 2026, to April 8, 2026, within one month, 24 people were sent to jail, 217 were made accused, and the number of “others” total 1,140. An activist who was not named in the original FIRs, but has since been implicated in about 12 cases, so that bail in one case is followed by arrest in another. This pattern of capture and releases have been used to crush rational dissent.
Dr. Randall understood that being a good doctor means understanding that prescriptions cannot compensate for the denial of land rights, that surgery cannot undo displacement and that no medical can substitute for the basic infrastructure a government has failed to provide.

Doctors should not be doing this. This is internalised toxic positivity. Beyond a point, quality of clinical work will level off, and money makes little sense once inside a routine that causes unshowcased frustration, kills creativity and passions, freezes empathy, results in compassion burnout and normalises poor quality of life as "nobility". Take the red pill.
I have seen many doctors whose day starts at 9 AM and who keep seeing patients until 10 PM at night.
I personally know one or two such doctors, and I agree that they earn good money too.
But it’s not as easy as it looks. Seeing the first patient in the morning and treating the last patient at night with the same energy takes a lot of hard work. It’s not easy at all.

Mishraji, I have seen a fair share of idiots on my timeline, but you really are top of the line. Read this well.
Nothing says "I have a rock-solid economic argument" quite like pivoting from bauxite mining to a conspiracy theory about my religion in the final sentence. If you ople on "ground realities," it helps to look at actual government data rather than astrological reading of licked corporate boots.
India’s richest bauxite and mineral belts, like Koraput and Kalahandi in Odisha, or Bastar and Surguja in Chhattisgarh, have been mined for decades. According to NITI Aayog’s National Multidimensional Poverty Index, these exact districts remain among the poorest, most malnourished, and least medically equipped in the country. Mining doesn't turn tribal heartlands into Wakanda. It extracts the wealth and leaves locals with red mud, toxic heavy-metal runoff, and silicosis.
India is not starving for aluminium. We are among the world's top producers and a net exporter of primary aluminium (exporting over 50% of what we produce). Razing ancient forests was never about rescuing tribals from poverty, but always has been about padding private export margins.
An old-growth tropical ecosystem with its groundwater table and biodiversity cannot be replaced by planting rows of commercial saplings on degraded land hundreds of kilometers away. Even Comptroller and Auditor General audits and parliamentary panels have repeatedly exposed that Compensatory Afforestation routinely fails, featuring abysmal survival rates, monoculture plantations, and "ghost forests" that exist only on paper.
Nobody wants indigenous communities kept as museum exhibits. They deserve schools, hospitals, and roads without having their ancestral homes strip-mined first. Under the PESA Act and the Forest Rights Act, local Gram Sabhas have the constitutional right to decide what happens to their land. When given the choice, as the Dongria Kondh famously proved against bauxite mining in Niyamgiri, they overwhelmingly reject having their water sources and hills destroyed.
As for sticking to livers, environmental heavy-metal toxicity, contaminated water tables, and severe malnutrition directly cause diseases, including that of the liver. Public health doesn't stop at the hospital door. Calling out ecological destruction isn't "proselytising", that’s just basic toxicology and high school knowledge which you may not have received in your Shakha...though I understand how evidence can look like a foreign religion when you're worshipping government and corporate greed, instead of human needs.
Go sit down clown.

@theliverdoct enough for tribals to support modern life with health and education.
It was sufficient for Hunter-Gatherers and foragers but not today.
Some kind of distorted fantasies by well off city dwelling elites force them to wish these tribals to live like Hunter gatherer and a strong nexus of international players strive to keep industry and development out of these areas so they can sell their products to them.
Elites like you are useful idiots (or willing participants) of this game.
Aluminium is required for various industries from aircraft to space to electricity and numerous daily items.
We need to import by paying huge resources (The scarcity of Govt resources are generally reflected more is these areas) depriving these very tribals from dignity of basic life.
The forest does have environmental/climatic importance and any company getting mining lease is required to buy equivalent private land and develop them in a forest and hand over to government.
So it remains the mineral extraction for development part which is most beneficial to these tribals themselves.
I have worked in such areas and interacts with them regularly.
Don’t try to mislead people by playing tribal card (And because Dr is a christian guy).
You are good with Liver diagnosis, stick to that or we will start believing that proselytising is the ultimate goal of your twitter activity.

Ayurveda practitioners are feeling the heat, even if it's Homeopathy practitioners in hot water.
Public awareness on legalized quackery and Govt forced legitimacy is getting better than ever in India.
The immunity that the pseudoscience community and industry once enjoyed in India has been cracked open. Every pseudoscience peddler is feeling immensely insecure but reflecting that insecurity on practitioners of science based medicine.
The scientific community was never and has never been insecure about the Ayurveda or Homeopathy community and such pseudoscience dumpsters. Why should a soaring eagle worry about a mosquito larvae in the dirt water?
The so-called "insecurity" that these people accuse the scientific community of, is in fact, public health and patient safety concerns. That is what real doctors feel and act on.
So-called alternative medicine (SCAM) practitioners won't go away, but their services will suffer into the future and they will clutch at straws to do everything to integrate into mainstream medicine. That's the only way they will be able to stay relevant.
All these illegal and unethical practices from alternative medicine community in the name of patient care in corporate hospitals is nothing but cheap labour and the race to prevent a looming existential crisis. Cope with the future in the present good for nothings. The terrible Govt has tricked you into wasting your lives.

This is Dr. Vishal Savani from Surat, Gujarat.
facebook.com/docvishalsavan…
He was supposed to become a fisherman, but fate had other plans and he became an Obstetrician and Gynecologist.
But he still keeps his dream of becoming a fisherman alive, by handling newborns he delivers like large fish from hooks.
Is this what the medical curriculum teaches its doctors in India?

A lot of people have been voicing concerns about the homeopathy practitioner treating ICU patients.
Please note, a homeopathy practitioner inside the ICU or anywhere inside a real hospital is not a doctor.
It's Homeopathywale or Homeopathywali.
Ms. Kalapana Savani the performing procedures inside an ICU, assisting high risk pregancies, giving new born care to high risk neonates has not been investigated, nor an official statement given from the Maate Hospital.
Not only is this hospital is in violation of multiple patient safety terms and conditions, including allowing a Homepath to enter a high risk procedures OT, treat critically ill ICU patients, the so-called OBGyn Dr. Vishal Savani is also allowing a bystander to pour liquids into a woman's mouth while she is in labour without foreseeing severe lung aspiration dangers and also posing with new borns upside down and endangering their lives.
Why is this hospital allowed to function?
The great National Medical Comission was salivating and coming at me rabidly for "professional misconduct" when Ayurveda and Homeopathy Councils made frivolous complaints against me for calling them pseudoscientific.

Are you sleeping on this now your Highnesses?
Are the new @NMC_BHARAT rules only for ethical conduct only for competent doctors who do their duties properly and not for doctor-quacks like these can do anything they want? Do your job wastrels!
Maate Hospital: Dr. Vishal Savani 092271 55277 (publicly available contact)

Hello @moayush and @ccrhindia
you had previously, officially, threateningly notified that Homeopathy practitioners must not be called quacks.
Could you let us know what this dancing specimen is then?
She has a BHMS degree. Her husband Dr. Vishal Savani is a laparoscopic un Maate Hospital in Surat, Gujarat.
Husband has decided wife should role play doctor. Is that how your regulatory policies work?
Their hospital website mentions intensivist based critical care for patients. But this video shows a Homeopathic quack, (yes a quack, because Homeopaths are not intensivists) endangering a patient's life by attending a critical call at midnight without any real doctors around to assist.
The patient survived her treatment. Yes, the sick man got lucky here while the quack was trying to kill him with her imaginary skills.
First is a screenshot from their own Insta profile showing her credentials. Second pic showing the hospital services. And the last picture showing what quacks do best. Immune detox and glutathione business fraud on patients - which fits her BHMS training.
Hey @ncism_india, if you have any shame left and some concern for public health, invesigate this couple and their jugaad hospital and make sure Homeopaths are regulated to prescribing milk sugar, alcohol and distilled water instead of attending ICU calls.
As usual, dumb nationalist idiots on social media are celebrating this professional misconduct and murder attempt. Grow some brain cells you numbskulls. Indian healthcare is pretty much inside the innermost circle of pseudoscience hell. Stop normalising this integrative crap.

Playing Garba in Chaniya Choli, Surat’s Dr. Kalpana Savani rushed to her hospital in a Rapido after learning about a critical ICU patient. She helped stabilise the patient, putting duty and humanity first! 🙏❤️

The only reason I have gotten any such recognition is because of single-celled organisms like you existing inside dirty puddles within deep forgotten caves believing that their "display picture" gives them the right and power to gaslight, demoralize and denigrate fellow Indian citizens who act in good faith.
The only reason he has got any recognition is because of his hate towards Hindus and Bharat.
