I'm doing something kind of interesting this week — I'm building a new template that @steveschoger designed in Figma a while back, but instead of writing it by hand this time, I'm getting Codex to build it for me.

I'm building it one component at a time, and for each component, components that I previously wrote by hand.

I provide the designs to the agent using the Figma Codex plugin. Steve always provides each component with at least five different breakpoints — so I provide all five at a time. This basically just involves including links to all the relevant frames in the Figma artboard.

I also tell the agent to use any new components that we've created while building this new template — like buttons, containers, inputs, and things like that.

And finally, I clean up the Tailwind classes using the "canonicalize-tailwind" skill that's included in @uidotsh. This just results in a little more idiomatic Tailwind code — like the code we would have written ourselves.

I've tried the Figma Codex plugin before but wasn't super happy with the code that was generated. But giving it reference components that I previously wrote by hand — that's been a big unlock, and I'm getting much better results.

The AI journey continues! 🤖

It's been really exciting to see the first group of people using ui dot sh and getting better results from their agents! ✨

We've been sending out more invites over the last few days, but we're being careful not to bring too many people on at once, so it might take a couple of weeks to get them all out.

Also, a quick reminder to check your spam folder if you're waiting on one and haven't seen it yet.

Working on these crazy non-deterministic tools has a lot of ups and downs so it’s awesome to get feedback like this 💪🏻

More invites going out all week 👍🏻

Before someone beats me to it, the so-called "fake" logo used in this video is actually a real logo. I made the mark and uploaded it to ChatGPT asking it to come up with a name for it and it gave me "Axiom". Didn't think to check before using it. Sorry, Axiom 😬

We've been super busy building ui.sh over the last couple of months, and it's really starting to come together — here's a before-and-after of a simple team page I asked it to generate. Exact same prompt… one with our skills, one without.
