There were only 9.1 million Hispanics in the US when they were first counted separately by the 1970 census
Fifty years of Hart-Celler later, and it was measured at 62.1 million in 2020
That's not natural increase, that's mass migration

Trump put out a statement today recognizing Reformation Day. That doesn’t sound like a big deal until you realize almost no president has ever done it.
The only other time a sitting president publicly acknowledged it was Herbert Hoover back in 1930, and even then it was just a short greeting he sent to a Lutheran group. Nothing formal, nothing broad, and nothing like what came out of the White House today.
What Trump actually said is the interesting part. He didn’t just say “happy Reformation Day.” He connected Martin Luther, the emphasis on Scripture, and people like William Tyndale straight to the ideas of God-given rights and liberty that shaped the founding. And he did it while the country’s in the middle of its 250th anniversary.
Most presidents will issue a proclamation for Thanksgiving or Christmas without thinking twice. Reformation Day, though? That’s specific. And for whatever reason, it’s basically never been something the White House has bothered to mark.
So yeah, it’s a small thing on paper. But in practice it’s one of those moments where a president is openly tying America’s story to the Reformation instead of treating that history like something that doesn’t matter.
Whether you like him or not, that part is new.

Clarence Thomas grew up in abject poverty in the segregated South.
When he was studying to become a priest, a classmate passed him a note that read, “I like Martin Luther King.”
On the back was one word: “dead.”
That was the racism he endured. It's an important part of ho would become one of the most consequential Supreme Court justices in American history.

You don't need an HOA to enforce standards if you have a community with shared values and shared culture
That's been upended in much of America, and the people complaining about standards are often the ones who'd otherwise engage in obnoxious behaviors

This is a prime example of an inability to think through third order effects. Without zoning (which is what a city calls an HOA) or HOA's, people can do whatever they want with their property. Sounds great right? Until you realize what "anything" encompasses.
