FINALLY! A reporter ( from Korea!!) finally asks Warsh the obvious question: why is the Fed doing QE to the tune of $40b a month if you said QE should only be used in emergencies?? Answer: waiting for the task force report. 😂😂. And gold is DOWN???

I’m all for flying cars. But given the way Floridians drive this scares the hell out of me! I can already picture a Tesla roadster slamming through my 2nd floor living room window! x.com/i/trending/211…

I did indeed... two years ago. And I pedaled it to a few people connected with the administration but got nowhere. 😤. But, heck, if they prefer a gold backed-bond, I’ll gladly take the rejection!
@spomboy came up with this idea a couple of years ago. Not sure how much traction (if any) she got with it but it’s a pretty damn smart idea…

no…the news is that he ISNT selling….presumably bc there is enough pressure on the stock already!
If I had to guess, the biggest reason is liquidity and concentration risk rather than a sudden loss of faith in Oracle. The sale plan was established in June, before this week’s earnings, and allows up to 50 million shares to be sold by the end of October.

Ellison still owns roughly 40% of Oracle, so even a $7.5 billion sale barely changes his economic exposure. What it does give him is enormous liquid capital at a time when he has major personal financing commitments, including support for his son’s Warner Bros. Discovery bid, while hundreds of millions of his Oracle shares are already pledged as collateral.

The timing is still notable because Oracle itself is entering the most capital intensive phase in its history. Q1 capex was $28.5 billion, free cash flow was negative about $5 billion, $11.36 billion of operating cash flow came from customer prepayments with a financing component, and Oracle raised nearly $20 billion of new equity while carrying enormous future infrastructure commitments.

My guess is Ellison understands that the upside can remain enormous while the range of outcomes has widened dramatically. Selling some stock now lets him monetize wealth before Oracle has to prove that hundreds of billions of AI backlog can be converted into profitable cash flow without permanent dependence on customer financing and capital markets. I would read it less as him abandoning Oracle and more as taking insurance against the exact capital duration risk the company is now assuming.

Bessent is trying to persuade the market that he can do yield curve control on his own. But nobody is fooled. He needs a printing press....or alternatively to create a pile of money by revaluing gold.
Is it time to talk about plan B?

MacroMavens masochists have long heard me bemoan the inevitable (and monumental) bailout of public pensions that will be 'required' after the next bubble bust. After being bankrupted by ZIRP, they ran to high-yielding 'alternative assets' to fulfill 7%+ return mandates. Their isk is almost Costanza-esque!! Just see below:

Shameless self promotion alert😉. But now that everyone's beating the Competition for Capital drum I can't help but point out that macromavens clients were being warned about this issue over 6 months ago.

I'm still trying to regain my senses after hearing the news this morning about @MariaBartiromo leaving Fox. It has been my incredible honor and privilege to get to know Maria over the years, starting back at CNBC. It is safe to say, she built Fox Business into what it is today. And she did it by being the person she always was...the hardest working journalist (not just woman!) on Wall Street who was committed to getting the answers --not just abiding glib talking-points. I know her next move is going to be even more remarkable. And I, for one, can't wait to see what she does. Her work ethic, dogged-determination, and love for family and friends make her a class act in a world where people like her are few and far between. Don't leave us hanging too long, Maria!!!

Maria Bartiromo @MariaBartiromo is a brilliant, honest, hardworking & fearless journalist, a total pro, a class act - and a great friend.

Can’t wait to see what she does next. She’s an absolute LEGEND 🇺🇸❤️

She must have something big planned. She’s a voice in the darkness as mass media has devolved into nothing but a propaganda machine for the Democrats. She’s one of the best and truly needed.
Fox Corp is parting ways with Maria Bartiromo.

As her former booking producer, I can say she is the hardest-working journalist at the company.

Bartiromo has given everything to her 12 years of work at Fox Corp.

She worked six days a week and has a presence on their platforms was always a class act and embodied what journalism should be.

I look forward to seeing what she does next.

So let me get this straight. We are now encouraging global creditors (who have been actively fleeing the dollar) to accelerate their exodus?!🤔 The only thing more nonsensical is that gold is only up $10!!
