Macht KI dein Team wirklich schneller?
@sogldaniel zeigt, warum mehr KI nicht automatisch mehr Produktivität bedeutet – und wo KI in der Softwareentwicklung tatsächlich Wirkung entfaltet.

🚫 "Please don't commit to main" is not a security policy. @sogldaniel shows why prompting your AI coding agent isn't enough — and how lifecycle hooks block dangerous commands before they run — at JSNation US. Lock it down → jsnation.us | Nov 16 & 19

From consultant to practice lead. As of today, the yardstick I'm measured by changes.
Until now, what counted was whether my solution held up. Starting as Director of AI Engineering at @SHIEngineers in @Augsburg, two questions come with the job: whether the practice pays for team works better with me leading it than without me.
The technical focus stays where it was: AI in software engineering. The work is not the next tool comparison but the path to production. And I don't want to tell development teams how to work. I want to get them further with the workflows, projects and tools they already have.
What I believe: AI doesn't make teams better across the board, it amplifies what is already there. Where quality gates, tests and solid review rules hold, for human and machine-written code alike, a team gets better with AI. Where they're missing, you just accumulate technical debt faster. The dream of the 10x developer turns into its opposite.
That's why we're establishing these standards in our own teams and with clients in parallel. More AI topics follow, one at a time.
I'm staying active in the community. The speaking calendar for the rest of this year is well filled, planning for 2027 is under way, and the first projects and workshops are lined up for the coming weeks. @BASTAcon, @AICodingSummit , @aiPolandConf, @thejsnation, @programmierbar and many more.
If you want to work out how AI-assisted development fits safely into your day-to-day, send me a message 😊

🔍 AI writes code. But who reviews it?
@sogldaniel explores how AI agents can review AI-generated code - covering local setups, tools like GitHub Copilot, and how to build a self-correcting development workflow.

It’s crucial to track the adaptation of AI in teams. The goal is not to measure productivity, which is a challenging metric to define, but to assess how effectively the current AI setup is functioning for the team.
Copilot usage metrics API now tracks pull requests merged after Copilot code review.
• View total merged PRs reviewed by Copilot & median minutes to merge for those PRs

Last week I attended my first @Microsoft MVP Summit in Seattle as a freshly minted MVP for Developer Technologies.
I was there together with my colleagues @christianliebel , Sebastien Gingter, and Christian Wenz for a few days of product previews, sessions, and some unexpected assionate gamer and developer, visiting the @Xbox Studios was a must. And yes, I finally got to meet the Master Chief in person 🎮
But the conversations were what I'll remember most.
@amrcn_werewolf's talks on where AI is heading were some of the best I've heard in a while. Clear thinking, a strong vision, and a perspective on what Microsoft sees coming that left me with a lot to think about. Getting to continue that conversation with him at the after party made it even better.
With @pierceboggan I had a great discussion about a shift I'm seeing with my clients every day: developers moving from writing code to owning product outcomes. AI coding tools are a big part of what's making that possible.
I also got to exchange feedback and ideas with @idangazit around upcoming @github features. I can't share specifics yet, but the innovation in AI coding tools is far from done.
For what it's worth: in my talks and workshops I consistently recommend @GitHubCopilot as the first choice for teams. Not because I have to, but because it's the one tool that covers everything the competition offers, without locking you into a specific model or IDE. That flexibility matters, and it's why I genuinely like the product.
One thing I kept coming back to in conversations throughout the week: junior and less experienced developers are often overwhelmed by the sheer number of features @GitHubCopilot offers and how to set them up correctly. Instead of boosting productivity, it becomes a blocker. New features are great, but better guidance needs to come with them.
First MVP Summit in the books. Already looking forward to the next one.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of speaking at the Warsaw AI Summit on Spec Driven Development — my second time in Warsaw, and thankfully with much better weather than last time ☀️.
It was a great experience presenting to a less technical audience and walking them through what n look like when you bring AI agents into the mix.
After the talk I got to visit the Warsaw office of @AppodealStack and spend some time with their dev team, talking about modern software development using AI.
