Old Gamefaqs guides are very endearing. Most of them are bad in terms of being a guide, but they all give an unambiguous perspective of the playstyles for the people who wrote them. The fact that they liked the game enough to write a whole guide on them is also very charming.

> Game modding white whale suddenly appears
> Vibe-coded by someone that has never released a mod before

This has happened 10 times in the last two weeks.

Was lucky enough to playtest this. It's super charming, eerie and strange in a way that feels like a dear homage to lonely source-engine mods

Ain't that fucking true though. Expanse and Exodus are cool but man part of the charm is the Star Trek nature of it. Just a lot of cool and interesting aliens.

And don't give me that "But Exodus has aliens!" They have aliens that were humans. I am talking about aliens, aliens.
"mass effect successor"
*has no aliens*

I was wondering why I recognized this guy's name and it turns out he is the CEO of Genvid, who created (and is proud of) Silent Hill Ascension.

Imagine having this fucking loon in your corner.

Lotta messy thoughts about Bioware and the concept of fandoms but tl;dr -
Games don't have fandoms like they used to and a large part is everything takes too long to make now. No more full trilogies in under 8 years (for better or worse).

Unless you're Yakuza or FF7 Remake.

Browsing nexusmods is so sad now, full of vibe coded shit like "X Game ported to Y Game with 1000 new skills" with no screenshots, no documentation and every bug report gets replied with "idk dont know bruh !!😂"

The fact that we went from "Wikipedia is not a legitimate source of information" in school to "Just ask AI / ChatGPT to get it done" is actually really insulting to me frankly

You'll never be able to generate respect, Tim.
We have a huge pivot underway here at Epic, moving developers around to retool for maximum AI acceleration.

The aim isn't to do the same stuff with fewer people, but to enable everyone here to build MORE and BETTER stuff, and to bring the benefits to all teams using Unreal.

Every game in the series has an incredible soundtrack. Here's something from 8, the tracks they pull out later in the campaign are best listened in-game while dodging 50 missiles with tears in your eyes.

Ace Combat 8 gets my GOTY easily, just so insanely good on all fronts.

Also play 7 if you haven't it goes on sale for 5 bucks and is basically as good. More people need to play these games. It's Metal Gear with planes.
