Moonshot just shipped the checkout Amazon, Shopify, Uber and DoorDash have spent billions perfecting, inside a self-custodial wallet.
Six small 3% gains don't add up to 18%. They compound into a 19.4% conversion lift.
Here's how this screen stacks them:
1. Recent: the card rd approval decides whether a crypto purchase happens.
A card that has already cleared a crypto purchase is the strongest signal it will clear the next one. Moonshot labels it Recent.
Declines cost more than one transaction. 10% of US shoppers who abandoned a checkout did so because their card was declined. 40% of consumers say they won't return to a merchant after a false decline.
2. Default to card with previous successful trasncation
Think about the last time you paid with Apple Pay. You didn't pick a card. You double-clicked, and the default card paid. Almost everyone does this. Nearly 9 in 10 mobile wallet users default to one card, and only 13% of people with multiple cards in their wallet rotate between them.
Banks compete hard to be the default card, because the default is the card that gets used. People treat the default as the recommended choice. Moonshot gives that slot to the card that already worked.
3. The last 4 digits
Recognition is easier than recall. It's one of Nielsen Norman Group's top 10 usability heuristics, because recognition gives memory more cues to work with. Users don't remember card numbers. They recognize the last 4.
The last 4 is also a trust signal. 19% of US shoppers who abandoned a checkout said they didn't trust the site with their card. Showing the last 4 tells the user the card is already stored and nothing needs to be typed.
4. The card brand
The brain can identify an image seen for as little as 13 milliseconds. The Mastercard or Visa logo is recognized before any text is read.
A familiar payment brand moves conversion on its own. Shop Pay from Shopify at checkout lifts lower-funnel conversion by 5%, even when buyers don't use it.
5. Ranked first
The first option gets the most attention. The #1 Google result gets 27.6% of clicks, 10x the #10 result. The payment method most likely to succeed should be the first one the user sees.
6. Expiry dates
~30% of card details change every year. An expired card is a hard decline, and retrying it won't work.
@moonpay passes expiry dates to partners. A card close to expiry can show in yellow, and an expired card in red with an update button. The user fixes it before the decline, not after.
7. How 3% becomes 19.4%
A funnel is a chain. Every user has to pass every step, so conversion is each step's rate multiplied together, not added.
Each fix works on a bigger group than the one before it. The first gets 3% more people past step one. The second gets 3% more of that larger group past step two. Across six steps: 1.03 x 1.03 x 1.03 x 1.03 x 1.03 x 1.03 = 1.194. A 19.4% lift.
Then it keeps going. Users whose first purchase succeeds come back, and their next purchase runs through the saved card that already cleared. The gap grows every month.
Uber runs 1,000+ experiments at any time for exactly this reason. Shopify's checkout converts up to 36% better than competitors, and 15% better on average. That gap comes from stacking small improvements.
8. The playbook isn't new
Amazon filed the 1-Click patent in 1997 and it was granted in 1999. Apple licensed it in 2000. Jared Spool's team replaced a retailer's Register button with Continue, and sales rose 45%: $15M in the first month and $300M in the first year. Uber Eats and DoorDash checkout today is the last 4 digits and one button.
9. Why headless
With a widget, the onramp couldn't remember the user, so every purchase was a first purchase. With headless, the saved card sits inside the partner's app, in their design, ranked where they choose. A self-custodial wallet now has the same checkout as a mainstream fintech app.
10. How we work with partners
We don't hand over docs and an API key and walk away. We go screen by screen with partners and find what moves conversion 1%, 2%, 3%. Then we stack those changes so they compound.
This screen got that level of attention. It matters more than most people think.
Well done @moonshot
There are 100+ more of these. You just have to want to obsess over them like I do. DM me and you'll see why partners choose us

One shotted this with Claude Opus 5.5.
Turns out building a crypto neobank is easy. Everyone can do it today.
How to build a neobank in 3 easy steps:
1. Choose your region: the US, Europe, Latin America or Asia
2. Choose your stablecoin: USDC, USDT, or USDC plus cash at the dn't one shot this and spent way too much on tokens 🤣. And no, you can't build a neobank in 3 easy steps.
It's extremely hard, and it's quickly becoming a commodity. If you think you can build one because you know how to set up a wallet with Privy, you're in for a surprise.
Every choice changes what happens under the hood: the tech stack, the region, the goal, the stablecoin. Each one comes with its own rules and tradeoffs. Margins are thin. The moat is distribution.
So I built Programmable Money so you could brainstorm and actually understand how crypto neobanks work.
Hit Explode and the app comes apart in 3D, like an X ray. You see every layer hiding behind the screen. How money gets in and out, the stablecoin under your balance, the wallet and the chains it runs on, earn and borrow, tokenized assets and the card.
Click any piece and it tells you what it does, who runs it and which rules apply. Then press Play and follow $100 as it moves through the whole thing, step by step.
It's the easiest way I've found to dissect the tech and actually understand it.
Here's what you can play with:
Choose your region:
1. United States
2. Europe
3. Latin America

I asked Claude Opus 5.5 to explain how a rocket engine works by building an interactive Raptor 3 you can take apart in your browser.
Cut it open, follow the oxygen and the methane through both turbopumps, then throttle it and watch the shock diamonds move.

figured it's time for a proper intro.
i'm Andres. 7 years in crypto, the last 4 at @moonpay, where i'm executive director of partnerships and lead gtm for MoonPay Commerce
studied mathematics. i've lived and breathed Product Hunt since 2015 and try at least 2 new products with my 68 year old dad. he's fine. i tore my ACL on a blue run.
will still beat @noahpompan at pushups any day.
things i'm addicted to:
> neobanks
> stablecoins
> the revolution coming with self custodial wallets
> UI/UX
> demos and storytelling (perfectionist about both)
> conspiracy theories told by my friend Diego
i'm also releasing a series of tools on friday on neobanks and how to build them called programmable money.
best part of working at MoonPay? meeting the craziest founders you can imagine. 99% of the time it's before they have revenue or users. when you build a neobank app and get ready to go live, one of the most important pieces is money in, money out. so i get to meet founders at the very beginning before a website, app, or a registered company.
that's why i love this job, and why every sunday I’m fired up for monday. it could be the day i meet the next @HunterQThompson or @defyneric
always down to chat stablecoins, neobanks, money flows, remittances and acl reconstruction.
peace.

wanted to do a quick re-intro for all my new friends here on X.
my name is Eric. i’m 20 years old and currently work at Flex, where i spend most of my time building our brand presence, driving distribution and thinking about the future of fintech + banking.
i never went to ucation has come from obsessively asking questions, talking to founders/operators and spending way too much time reverse engineering how great companies are actually built.
somewhere along the way i started posting what i was learning on X.
no real strategy. just posting genuinely useful content about fintech, banking and interesting companies building in the space.
that ended up taking off way more than i expected and introduced me to some of the smartest people i’ve ever met.
right now i’m especially obsessed with:
> the future of banking
> GTM + distribution
> fintech business models
> engineering virality
still extremely early in my career and have a ridiculous amount left to learn.
very grateful for everyone following along and especially for the people who’ve taken the time to give me advice along the way.
if you’re building something interesting in fintech, banking or business, leave a comment :)
always happy to meet new people!

Just getting started
MoonPay went from being known as the “buy crypto with your credit card” company to having one of the most stacked product lineups in all of crypto.
they now offer 20+ products across:
> on/off ramps
> virtual bank accounts
> fiat + crypto deposits
> global payouts
> stablecoin issuance
> wallets
> MPC/key management
> swaps
> crypto checkouts
> treasury management
> institutional trading
> reconciliation + accounting
> AI agent wallets
> agentic payments
a lot of this expansion has come from them going on a shopping spree and acquiring a dozen companies over the last year.
what @MoonPay gets especially right is that despite becoming a much bigger infrastructure company
they’ve never lost the consumer brand that made them relevant in the first place (due to their cracked social team)
A tier execution all around. has been beautiful to watch.

PayBox is non-custodial wallet embedded directly within Claude.
Historically, this has been difficult because there has been no way to prevent some centralized party - claude, paybox, etc. - from accessing the key.
We utilize an embedded iframe directly within the Claude/ChatGPT mobile app to hold an agent session key, that unlocks that same wallet that you can access with your passkey, or via other agents, an architecture created by Sodot, @moonpay cryptography company.
The big unlock with PayBox is mobile. You can directly access a wallet on claude/chat. There is no need for terminals, code, or CLIs. Anyone, technical or non-technical, on the move or at home, can access and interact with all the applications you can perform on Claude.
Most of the world is already on a chat mobile app, and PayBox makes DeFI directly accessible to this user-base. You can trade directly from your phone on the move, with voice or text.
Claude already performs reasoning across a large array of tools - google, linear, notion are the typical examples. A non-custodial wallet allows users to execute across all of DeFi.
The on-chain capabilities enabled by PayBox include
- prediction markets
- amms
- tokenized equities
- perps
- lending
The non-defi examples enabled by x402 are cool as well
- purchase from amazon
- book a reservation or a flight
- call any open-source model of your choice
- web scraping
(and many many more)
This was a massive project involving a number of firsts
- the first fully non-custodial wallet directly within Claude/ChatGPT
- an open way to access ANY application built on-chain directly from mobile
and of course
- PayBox never has access to your chat history
- PayBox never has access to your wallet private key
- PayBox never allows unilateral access to funds unless you approve agent to have autonomous control
Just like any other MCP connector on Claude or ChatGPT, the only data that passes through the connector are the tool call arguments. PayBox tool call arguments do not expose args for your chat history.
A more detailed write-up on PayBox usecases and implementation coming soon, but for now try the app today in Claude.

In 1977, a seafood marketer named Lee Lantz discovered a fish with a problem.
The fish was excellent but the name was terrible. It was called the Patagonian Toothfish.
Sounding less like something you would order for dinner and more like a dental nightmare, he changed the name.
Patagonian Toothfish became Chilean Sea Bass!
The fish did not change - the story did - and one of the greatest rebrands in business history was born.
Crypto has the same problem.
Not a technology problem. Rather, a vocabulary one.
For years, the word "crypto" has been associated with speculation, volatility and hype.
That is the story most people know.
But stories have a shelf life. Reality eventually wins; and the reality surrounding crypto remains misunderstood.
The Internet connected people. Crypto connects value.
Just as the Internet made communication instantaneous, global and accessible, crypto is making value transfer instantaneous, global and programmable.
That shift is already happening.
Bitcoin is connecting value across time. Stablecoins are connecting value across borders. Tokenization is connecting real-world assets to the Internet. Programmable assets are connecting value to software.
What many still see as a speculative asset class is increasingly becoming foundational infrastructure.
The internet was never really about websites, it was about connection. Electricity was never really about power plants, it was about possibility.
Crypto is not really about “crypto,” it is about what becomes possible when value moves as seamlessly as information.
That is why the conversation is changing.
Institutions that once dismissed crypto are now building with it. Banks are exploring stablecoins, financial markets are embracing tokenization and he infrastructure is quietly becoming part of the system itself.
Thus, the biggest opportunity in this industry is not technological, it is the narrative.
The future will not be built on a word. It will be built on utility:
➡️ Faster payments
➡️ Digital ownership
➡️ Programmable assets
➡️ Global markets that never sleep
The Patagonian Toothfish never changed, the world simply learned how to see it differently.
Crypto is approaching the same moment. The internet connected people. Crypto connects value.
And the moment it becomes indespensable is the moment the word “crypto” will also become invisible.

Proud to share that @solana is now the presenting sponsor of the World Series of Poker, the first in 15 years and only 3rd in their 59 year history.
When we thought about what kind of bets we could make to grow Solana, poker was a standout:
- 100m monthly players; bigger than d
- Fastest growing game in Asia
- The biggest “sport” where capital and economy are central to its gameplay
- Future of trading looks more like poker than traditional finance
- Many poker pros integrate crypto in their lives already, from settling private games to staking
We approached @WSOP to see how we could collaborate deeply and came away ready to go all in.
We are building together on a number of fronts:
- Bringing WSOP back to @ESPN live in August with Solana front and center through the entire experience, broadcasting to 400 million households worldwide
- Streaming 150 hours live from Vegas on Solana
- SOL + Solana stablecoins exclusively for tournament buy-ins and payouts (already processed millions in the last week!)
- Collaborating to bring poker staking into the crypto era, as well as prediction markets and other frontier products
- Creating content together to educate traders on the game and poker players on trading onchain
Poker is a game I’ve loved for 20 years and I’m personally excited to bring these two adjacent worlds together.

The play is never the move. It's the mind behind it.
The World Series of Poker. Now dealt by Solana.

Been BETA-testing @usemotocard for a few days and here are the 3 things that caught my attention the most:
#1 - Secured Credit line
It is supposed to let you earn yield even after spending it. (not available during Beta)
How it works is kinda' cool.⬇️
All your USDC balance will earn yield as soon as it lands in your Moto account, and it unlocks a 100% in credit to spend.
At the end of the month, you're billed for your transactions, and you use your balance earning interest to pay it off.
What happens if you don't pay? I am not sure yet. I'll check on May 1st and post about it.

Here’s a Visa Issuing program ROI calculator teaser.
Been working on this for a couple days.
A calculator that helps you estimate if your card program alone will be profitable or not.
When you use it, you are up for a surprise.
