OpenAI CEO Sam Altman just now at #AIWorld: "If I could recommend like only one thing to a company right now to do with AI in the very short term, even more than like become super productive with codex, it would be to really understand the security threat landscape."

Another brutal M&A. Miro, founded in 2011 and valued at $17.5B 4yrs ago, is getting acquired by Bending Spoons, founded 2013, at ~2.3x ARR.
After Airtable, another unfortunate victim of the SaaS bust at ~10x down from peak. It raised $476M only to be sold for $1.355B EV ($1.79B equity value), clearing its preference stack.
Any employees who joined 2021 onwards are likely underwater on their options in the company.

We still need humans
"We all need to wake up to the fact that we need to change the design of compute and how compute is running these models, so we actually have a shot at deploying a security core, a piece of compute that is dedicated to just making sure that whatever runs on the compute layer is doing what humans want it to do."
Our CEO Tomer Weingarten joined @SeemaCNBC and @carlquintanilla on @CNBC @SquawkStreet to discuss escaping AI agents and calls for AI regulations.

Palantir CEO Alex Karp RIPS into Anthropic’s Dario Amodei and OpenAI’s Sam Altman for making customers pay while transferring all the alpha in their business to them:
" All I did is put out facts. There's been no response to these facts."
" I've spent a lot of time with Dario ant to tell you we have to march into a future where we own nothing, where our businesses aren't profitable, where none of us have jobs, and where our adversaries win."
"What if I charged you a million dollars and you found out I migrated your whole bank account into my bank account?"
" First of all, they don't create a lot of value. Second of all, the value they create gets migrated to someone else. And they're all running around saying, 'No ontology, no love,' which is a saying from the '70s I had to look up."
" I've spent a lot of time with Dario. He's not the caricature people think. They have a philosophy. That philosophy is a very important philosophy, the determinant of philosophy in the tech scene over the last couple years, and that philosophy in its business practice basically says in simple terms—I own the future, therefore you should migrate the value of your business to me and be happy with the derivative of that that you sometimes get after a wealth tax."
"Palantir, we get paid a lot of money. Why do we get paid a lot of money? Because we create value for the customer first, and value that they keep."

“We have people trying to drug addict us to a future they believe they control.”

Chamath on Dario’s inability to refute Alex Karp’s claims:
“When Alex came on… at no point did Anthropic say, ‘He’s got it totally wrong, here’s the exact technical details, there’s nothing to see here.’”
“I thought to myself, why wouldn’t you, the minute after that clip started to go viral, be completely specific and repudiate the claim.”
“The reason, we all know, is because it’s the true version.”

.@chamath says Palantir CEO Alex Karp “deserves a medal” for being “on the right side of history” and one of the only AI leaders speaking the truth:
“You can look at a graph of the financing needs of these companies and pinpoint when they oscillate between 2 messages.”
“1. od and the VCs are like lemmings and need to be on the right side of the super god.”
“2. This is a complete weapon, let’s shut the world down and regulate everything.”
“The problem is, at a trillion dollar market cap, that game has ripple effects that touch everybody in the industry.”
“What Alex Karp did—he deserves a medal.”
“This is an incredible human being that had the courage to come here, everybody watched that clip, all these S&P500 CEOs called me after that clip asking, ‘Help me interpret this.’”
“I’ll tell you—he was on the right side of history.”
“What he’s showing you is—you need to have a much more predictable way of running your business. Because if you’re bending to the vicissitudes of private company funding cycles, or their desire to need to live up to trillion-dollar valuations, you’re taking a level of risk you didn’t know you were taking.”
“The LLMs do a very good job at a superficial form of privacy called ‘Zero Data Retention or ZDR.’”
“They say, ‘Enable this and everything is hunky dory.’”
“When you look at the fine print, if he uploads the secret formula for KFC into the model, that part is ZDR’d. But if he just clicks the like button, is there any guarantee that info is not stored? The honest answer technically, is no, because we don’t know how to do that.”

Great convo w/ @nikesharora and his reaction to #OpenAI's 5.6 model being 54% more token efficient. "it's a good start...we probably need another turn at it. But if you can get token efficiency from where it has been to about 1/5 to 1/8 that's a good place to be in the next 12m"
Todays tweet substituted by a CNBC clip.
1. Don't over index on picking winners. Focus on how to deliver value to the enterprise.
2. Different horses for different courses I still want frontier LLM for drug discovery and cures. Maybe a task model to deflect customer service calls.
3. There is a constant funding gap till cash from ebitda and capex cross over, how much capacity does the market have, and who will it fund will be the uncertainty ahead, but winners and hyperscalers will continue to be funded.
4. There is infinite demand for AI. Which is always the holy grail, with infinite demand "if you build it they will come".
5. The orchestration layer will be built, there are many efforts out there - don't fall into the DIY trap, see how the market evolves, in the meantime focus on building your tribal knowledge and context which are specific to your business.
