Actor Kevin Tighe leaves LA County Station 127 (station 51 in the TV Series "Emergency!") with the ashes of his co-star, Randolph Mantooth, who recently died. My father was a career fireman, so "Emergency!" was required viewing when I was a kid.

I was in immediately when the Store opened. Had the pre-pre-order ready to go, hit ORDER within 10 seconds and it said Oct 23 (my birthday 😢) on the screen. Then because I got greedy and used the X-Card to pay for it for the 3% cash back, I got stopped dead when it asked for the CVV of the card again and it just took time to get into Wallet, hit the hamburger menu to show me the CVV of the virtual X-Card. By the time I got back it was Nov 2-9. Should have used the damn Apple Card then it wouldn't have asked for the CVV. 😡 x.com/jaydenstech/st…

I have to say that I'm a card-carrying Apple (and Tesla) fan-boy. I wear those badges proudly. I will buy whatever the ghost of Steve Jobs tells me to buy, almost as basic reflex. But I am having serious trouble figuring out any excuse to buy the HomeView and the new AppleTV.
The home pod's screen is too small to have across the living room. There is no App Store for third-party apps. To use FaceTime it practically has to be sitting in your lap. Its homekit integration doesn't do anything that your iPhone can't already do or just shouting "hey Siri, open the blinds in the living room". It matter/thread router is exactly the same that's in the 3 year-old HomePod mini.
And the worst thing... One of the big features is facial recognition for personal stuff. But it seems that you will still need your unlocked iPhone to actually DO those personal things (much like you get with HomePods now). Huh??? Isn't that the point of the camera? To identify me as me? So what's left for the HomeView? Snoopy doing funny things? A picture frame - nope 7" across the living room or on a shelf doesn't cut it.
The same for the new AppleTV. It is not THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS. For what? Great... it has a A18 chip or something with AI. Why? So my TV can now say "Hmmm... I'm having trouble connecting"? For a faster video decoder. Was there ever any problem with decoding video on the old ones?
I would love to find out I'm just plain wrong and help contribute to Apple's bottom line.

Just when I think I can’t love Tesla any more….. I go in to take my car for an alignment because the steering wheel is slightly turned to the right when obviously driving straight. At check-in, the Service guy chats with me and says “did the computer tell you it needs an alignment?” I said I don’t think so. He said the car can detect if the steering is off too much from the wheels and it will warn you. He said it’s not out of spec for the steering wheel to be just a tad off. He said they can adjust it but there is a charge to do that, but he said if it doesn’t bother me to not spend the money as it is just cosmetic. Then he said he’ll check the logs on the car and see if it did give me a “needs alignment” message but if it didn’t, don’t waste my money as it’s not necessary. But no matter what, they will look at the wear on the tires anyway. So in other words, unless the car said it needs it, save your $270 on the alignment. Can you POSSIBLY imagine another car company/dealer telling you that a repair is unnecessary and save your money? @Tesla

Wow @RealDanODowd I thought Waymo’s with lidar were perfect. Guess you’re wrong again.
Orlando, FL (OCT.05.2026)-
Warning: Hold your breath here.
Waymo’s Chinese OJAI ignored the red light; creeps its way into cross traffic and then just fucking goes for it.
Insane.
We don’t have any hashtags for this one…

Pretty decent thunderstorm to the west of Vegas right over us. Almost an inch of rain so far. High wind.

Love waking up in our new home, sitting on the mirador, my wife and I having coffee. You can almost reach out and touch the mountains. I can’t get over the beauty of the desert.

Why is Tesla washer fluid so complicated? @tesla_na @Tesla @nextzettUSA
I need some help from the Tesla crowd, because I have somehow managed to turn windshield washer fluid into a research project that apparently requires a chemistry degree. 😂. I’m in Virginia, so I need something that actually has antifreeze/winter protection.
Here’s what I’ve figured out so far:
Tesla’s current Model Y documentation says North American cars should use ethanol-based automotive windshield washer fluid. It specifically says that below 40°F, the washer fluid should contain antifreeze, and it specifically warns against the water-repellent/Rain-X-type formulas because they can cause streaking, smearing and wiper noise. Tesla even lists its own ethanol washer solvent by part number.
So I thought, “Fine. I’ll just find an ethanol-based winter concentrate.” Enter nextzett Kristall Klar, which I already bought earlier in the year but haven't needed until now. It’s an excellent summer washer concentrate, but nextzett explicitly says it is NOT formulated for winter and is only effective to around 32°F.
No problem — nextzett makes Anti Frost, which is the winter version. It’s ethanol-based, methanol-free, and can be mixed for various levels of freeze protection. EXACTLY what I want. Except… THEY DON’T MAKE IT IN 2026. Their own website currently says Anti Frost is sold out and isn’t scheduled for production in 2026. 🤦♂️ (nextzettusa.com)
Okay, fine. Surely there are other products that meet the same basic specifications, right?
I’ve found one called Clean Revolution EV Windshield Washer Fluid that appears to specifically be ethanol-based/methanol-free and aimed at EVs. Great! It's $26 A GALLON ON AMAZON. For. Freaking. Windshield. Washer. Fluid.
At this point I’m beginning to suspect there’s a secret meeting between Tesla and "Big Fluid" where they sit around smoking cigars and saying, “Whatever we do, DON’T let these people find reasonably priced ethanol washer fluid.” 😂
So before I either:
A) spend $26/gallon,
B) buy the $4 Walmart stuff and piss off the Tesla washer-fluid gods, or
C) start distilling ethanol in my garage,
what are you guys actually using? Specifically, I’m looking for:
• Ethanol-based
• Winter/antifreeze protection
• No water-repellent/Rain-X coating
• No weird bug-wash additives
• Available in the U.S.
• Preferably something that doesn’t cost more than the actual windshield it’s cleaning
If you’ve found a specific product that meets Tesla’s requirements, please give me the actual product name and/or a link.
Thank you!
