I'm looking for companies to pilot Porffor (in production)! Good fit if you:
- have relatively small highly used pieces of JS
- really care about memory usage
- are willing to test, push boundaries, move fast
- are happy to co-write a blog post/case study :)

Skills over MCP (SEP-2640) was recently named an extension of the #MCP standard. Learn how some @TechAtBloomberg #AI engineers helped standardize Skills over MCP so agentic AI capabilities can scale efficiently + the role it plays in #ASKB

I made a little playground for tsrs 🦀
Runs in your browser with WASM, and it’s much much faster than the tsgo WASM version!

tsrs.sxzz.dev
rolldown-plugin-dts now lets you choose your TypeScript compiler for .d.ts generation: tsc, tsgo or tsrs

Benchmark:
• Real repo: tsrs 229ms, 3.6× faster than tsc
• 1000 modules: tsrs ~10% faster, ~13% less memory than tsgo
• tsrs is lowest on time and memory in every workload

Content mappers in TS 7.1 are an absolute game changer

It’s plugins for TypeScript: a way to dynamically compute a static type signature for external file types (.vue, .md, etc) and integrate them directly into tsc compilation
TypeScript 7.1 Beta is now available! Now with a preview API, content mapper support, new features, and some great optimizations. Give it a try and give us some feedback! devblogs.microsoft.com/typescript/ann…

TypeScript 7.1 has significant performance and memory wins over TS 7.0 🔥

Keep that in mind when evaluating the alternative compilers. Many of the reported benchmarks were comparing against the original TS 7.0.
Some speed & memory improvements you'll see with TypeScript 7.1 Beta. We're hoping to land more before RC & stable.

tsrs is a fast new TypeScript compiler port 🔥

This deep-dive blog post by @max_schwenk explains how he created the compiler and what makes it so fast.

Contains excellent infographic animations.

The all-new API is the highlight of TypeScript 7.1 because it represents the first time that significant volumes of ecosystem tooling can begin to integrate with the Go-based version of TypeScript.

TypeScript excitement 😉

tsrs is a fast TypeScript compiler port by @max_schwenk that is now maintained by VoidZero 🎉

The Cloudflare blog post states that the features and behavior will be determined only by the TypeScript team to avoid fragmenting the language 👍
Introducing tsrs: a Rust port of the TypeScript compiler 🦀

We are not forking TypeScript!

◆ In close collaborating with the TypeScript team
◆ Up to 8x faster than TS 7.0 & ~70% less memory
◆ Runs in WASM, so it works in your browser & on Workers
◆ Soon part of the Oxc toolchain

TS fork news: Vercel joined the race and tsrs seems to have moved to the @OxcProject org on GH, and got a great speed boost 👀

tsrs: 2.8s, 2.6 GB (v0.16)
bun: 4.8s, 1.4 GB (v1.4.4)
tsc-ts: 6.5s, 6.5 GB (v0.0.2) 🆕

Not bad @ctatedev.

Cool ship! It's faster than my port (ts-rust aka tsc-rs) in most things. I heard that they wanted to ship earlier but delayed because my --fast mode beat them 🤣

That said, it looks like tsrs is the real winner
New from Vercel Labs: tsc-ts

TypeScript was written in TypeScript
Then rewritten in Go

We ported it back to TypeScript
Compiled it with scriptc

And it's 2-4x faster than tsgo

I see huge potential in scriptc from @vercel Labs. If the performance is good enough, I’d switch my go-to language from Go to TypeScript. Easier code sharing alone is a compelling reason—and TypeScript has plenty more going for it.

Here's a little how Bun AOT currently works (and may still change a lot):

1. bun build --compile --aot <script>
2. `bun check` type-checks but allows untyped code
3. Typed IR
4. Optimization passes
5. JavaScriptCore's B3 compiler runs
6. ARM64/x64 machine code

Latest benchmark runs on Framer's monorepo:

🏆 tsrs: 5.3s, 2.5 GB | v0.11
🥈 tsc-rs --fast: 7.9s, 5.8 GB | v0.6
🥉 bun check: 8.0s, 1.4 GB | v1.4.4
tsc-rs: 8.3s, 6.1 GB | v0.6
--
@can1357's TS7.1 patch: 11.3s, 8.7 GB
TS 7.1-dev: 21.3s, 10.2 GB
tsgo 7: 26.5s, 12.6 GB
ts-rust v0.6.0 is out! It's now 30% faster than before, and up to 70% faster with the new "--fast" mode (at the expense of RAM)

This mostly closes the gap in performance against `bun check` while still maintaining 100% compatibility with upstream TypeScript (Bun does not)
