He's been called 'The Weeping Frenchman.'

His name was Jérôme Barzetti. He was a shopkeeper in Marseille.

This picture of him was taken in September, 1940, as he watched his streets - his home - being taken over by invaders.

It was published in Life Magazine in March, 1941.

Douglass is an under appreciated and under remembered American.

If you're unfamiliar with him, please read 'Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass'.

If you cook, you understand: This is amazingly accurate.
@VoiceofIgnatius @LexerLux Old cookbooks are recipes and methods. For people who cook.
New cookbooks are fluffy travel diaries. For people who don’t, but pretend they do.

For those of you who have wondered exactly what the microchip in your dog or cat looks like, it looks like this.

And my hand looks like this, but that's not really germane to the post. 🙂
