🔵 Oratory → 🟡 MOMENT
First, I’m excited to announce that we have acquired a strategic stake in @rileycx's company Oratory and are aligning the company with our service model. Oratory will be discontinued to make room for MOMENT. Riley will remain CEO of MOMENT and direct both his team and the company.

my kids have been watching phineas and ferb. They say this:

“Hey ferb, I know what we’re going to do today” and then they build a giant robot or whatever in a day

that’s how it feels working with ai as a designer right now

if you make a logo and a brand guide, but don't actually apply it to real assets -- you are just making up stories without making sure they are ever shared with the world

you see popular designs go viral and then a few weeks later, they pivot to a more traditional website structure because it is basically just used as a short-term marketing campaign.

the "viral" design isn't useless—it just is built for a very specific, one-time use.

I am all for these types of designs, and I love seeing them as someone who appreciates design and effort. But we should also acknowledge the downsides of these types of sites. (like they are harder to understand for a customer)

if you want to be an artist with your site and push the limits of what is possible on the internet, consider just making a landing page dedicated to the artistic / award-winning / video-like story.

your homepage can still be focused on delivery of information

/our-story (or similar) can be whatever you want, no rules

one of my favorite little pieces of UI from this site; and it's essentially completely hidden from 99% of users

it is absolutely hilarious to me that there is a set of people arguing that no-code platforms are now MORE SCALEABLE than code

quick guide on how to decide which platform you should use for your marketing website:

do you have a full-time webflow dev on staff and want that to be their entire role?
- use webflow

do you have a full-time framer dev on staff and want that to be their entire role?
- use framer

do you want anyone to be able to make any update to your site?
- use a custom built site where you own all of the code

I paid a guy to drop a dumpster at my house and I just talked to him for 45 minutes straight about how he's using Claude.

This guy is 60 years old, running a local service business. He's more open to using AI and deeper in the technology than half of the software engineers on this app.

He also thinks AI is going to kill us all... but that's beside the point he's taking full advantage of this and absolutely crushing it in his market.
