I accidentally pooped my pants during a meeting today
But it wasn't a crisis—It was an opportunity to lean into vulnerability and practice radical composure during an unexpected operational disruption in the workplace.
These moments remind us that true leadership is about navigating discomfort with grace, maintaining professionalism under pressure, and quickly pivoting to contingency protocols.
With my steady hand at the ship, others in the room were hardly bothered by the foul stench emanating from my pants
Grateful for the chance to strengthen my resilience muscle and model authenticity for the team. #GrowthMindset #WorkplaceResilience #AuthenticLeadership #AlwaysLearning

I was a virgin until 32 years old.
Here's what it taught me about corporate leadership.
While everyone else was chasing quick wins and short-term validation, I was practicing delayed gratification. No shortcuts.
No forcing outcomes before the conditions were right. Just consistent effort, clear standards, and the discipline to wait until the timing (and the fit) actually made sense.
That same patience is what separates good leaders from reactive ones. You don't rush a hire. You don't force a product launch. You don't trade long-term culture for temporary engagement metrics.
Sometimes the strongest move is holding the line until the right moment arrives.
Grateful for the perspective.
Who else learned their best leadership lessons from unexpected places?

I stopped talking to my father.
And replaced him with someone better.
My manager.
Only one of these men teaches me on a daily basis.
Only one of them provides me with health insurance.
And only one of them holds me to a high standard while measuring my KPIs in a dashboard
Sorry, "dad", but my manager is more of a father figure than you will ever be for me
Who agrees?

While most people are still asleep, I just sat down at my desk with a cold brew and a to-do list that doesn’t care that it’s the weekend.
My daughter asked me last night if we could go to the park today. I told her “maybe later.”
Then I looked at the roadmap, the board deck, and the numbers we’re trying to hit this quarter… and I knew “later” wasn’t going to happen.
It’s not easy missing family time. It’s not easy explaining to my kids that “Daddy has to work so the company can keep growing.”
But leadership isn’t about comfort. It’s about showing up when it’s inconvenient. It’s about putting the mission above the moment.
Every Saturday I spend here is an investment in the people who rely on us, the customers who trust us, and the future we’re building together. If that means sacrificing a weekend so my team can win on Monday, then that’s a trade I’ll make every time.
Grateful for a company worth the grind. Grateful for a family who understands the vision. And grateful for the chance to keep pushing.
Who else is in the arena this weekend? 🚀

Today I will make an important decision.
Most co-workers slip out early on a Friday afternoon.
4:25pm to pick up their kids.
4:15pm to grab Happy Hour.
And (God forbid) 3:45pm to "get a head start on the weekend"
Not me.
I stay until exactly 5:00 PM.
Not 4:59.
Not 5:01.
Exactly 5:00.
Professionals don’t just “get the work done.” They honor the full commitment. They model discipline.
They understand that work-life balance isn’t about leaving early — it’s about showing up completely, then stepping away completely, on the exact terms you agreed to.
Leaving at 5:00 sharp isn’t clock-watching. It’s integrity. It’s leadership. It’s telling your future self that boundaries and excellence can coexist.
The early leavers will never understand. And that’s okay.
Who else is in the 5:00 PM club?

I had to pee really bad.
But I refused to leave the meeting.
Yesterday, mid–1-on-1 with a direct report, nature issued an increasingly non-negotiable call.
The conversation was hitting peak alignment on Q4 goals, development gaps, and cross-functional synergies.
Leaving would have broken the psychological safety we’d carefully cultivated.
So I stayed.
Fully present. Active listening. Nodding through the growing urgency.
True servant leadership sometimes means sitting with discomfort—literal, physical discomfort—so your people feel heard.
I didn’t want them to walk away thinking their manager prioritizes personal convenience over their growth trajectory.
Lesson learned: your bladder is not a stakeholder. Your team is.

Had a massive fight with my wife this morning
We had a strategic misalignment about my priorities
She said I'm not "spending time with my family"
I told her that my manager is a part of our family just as much as our kids are
I arrived at the office at 7:30 AM today— not because I had to, but because I chose to.
I found an angry voicemail from my wife when I arrived
"You didn't bring our daughter to school!" she screeched
I'll deal with that later. Time to turn the personal phone off while at work.
Focus is key.
Every high-performing partnership — at home or at work — will face moments of misalignment.
The real differentiator isn’t the absence of conflict. I
t’s how quickly you can re-center, extract the signal from the noise, and show up fully for the people who are counting on you.
Agree?

I had major surgery on my bladder last year
And I only missed 2 hours of work
0.25 days of PTO when many would take 10+ days
But that's how dedicated to my job I am
To me, PTO means "Preferring To Opt-out"
And I never prefer to opt out—not when the work is this important
I lean in.
KPIs need to be hit.
Q4 objectives need to be communicated.
Value needs to be created.
Painkillers were created for a reason—to numb the pain of a fresh incision and allow us to get back to work.
I did get a little bit of blood on my workstation, but that's why we employ a cleaning crew at the office.
Next time I have surgery, I'm scheduling it for a Sunday so I don't have to miss any time.
Who's with me?

Last week I peed my pants during a client meeting
I was so focused on solving problems for my client that I forgot about my own body for a moment
The urine flowed out and some even hit the carpet of the conference room
The client asked if I was okay—but I powered through and finished the meeting without getting distracted
When I'm with a client, I'm giving them 110% of my attention and focus—no matter what else happens around us
45 minutes later, we ended the productive meeting and I got my boss' permission to use the restroom and compose myself
Cleaning up my pants and legs could wait—but an important client shouldn't have to wait.
Who would have done the same thing?

Just wrapped a 1:1 that reminded me why I do this.
My son had a baseball game today.
I missed it.
Not because I don’t love him—I do.
Deeply.
But because this meeting wasn’t just a meeting.
It was a chance to realign on Q4 priorities, surface blockers early, and co-create a path forward with my manager. Showing up for your team (even virtually) when it counts is how you build the kind of trust that compounds.
My kid will have hundreds of games.
This specific conversation only happens once.
Leadership isn’t about being everywhere. It’s about being fully present where the highest-leverage work is happening.
Sometimes that means choosing the calendar invite over the bleachers.
Who agrees?

Can't wait to inspire myself and my co-workers to reach new heights and test the upper limits of possibility

Took a massive dump at work today
This morning, midway through back-to-back Zooms, I felt the familiar pull.
Not the pull of ambition or inbox zero — the pull of biology.
For a moment I hesitated. “Can I really step away right now?"
Then I realized: the real high-performers aren’t the ones who never leave their desks.
They’re the ones who know when to strategically step away so they can come back sharper.
So I closed my laptop. Walked the 27 steps to the restroom. Locked the door. And in that brief, sacred silence, three things became clear:
1. Presence is a competitive advantage.
2. Your body is not a distraction from the work — it is the hardware running the work.
3. Sometimes the boldest move a leader can make is simply… flushing and moving on.
Agree?

Today I did something that quietly redefined what “execution” looks like in the modern workplace.
I sent an email.
Not just any email.
A considered email.
One that required me to open my laptop, locate the compose button, type actual words, and then… hit send.
The moment my finger hovered over that button, I felt the full weight of asynchronous communication resting on my shoulders.
I paused. I reflected. I asked myself: Am I truly ready to add value to someone else’s inbox?
Then I clicked.
What followed was a profound realization: most people overcomplicate “getting things done.”
They wait for the perfect conditions, the perfect subject line, the perfect time of day.
Me?
I simply refused to let the blank screen win. I chose action. I chose clarity.

My wife no longer respects me
Dealing with dynamic interpersonal relationships is part of any job—even the job of husband
As a middle manager at a middle market corporation, I'm reminded of the challenges in managing expectations and conflicts in a team setting
My marriage is no different —expectations need to be realigned, and KPIs need to be tracked to get back on the same page
I look forward to managing this challenge just like I do with my work

Today, I almost ordered the usual.
The convenient one.
The one that requires zero thought and even less soul.
The basic "sandwich" that everyone else gets by default.
And then something in me cracked open.
I chose the salad.
Not because it was easy.
Not because I was
I chose it because for the first time in a long time I wanted to look my future self in the eye and say I showed up for you.
I sat with that bowl like it was a mirror.
Crisp leaves.
Real color.
Something that didn’t come from a bag and a microwave.
And somewhere between the first bite and the last, I felt it: the quiet, slightly terrifying feeling of choosing myself when no one was watching.
This wasn’t about lunch.
This was about the tiny, unsexy decisions that actually build a life.
The ones that don’t get applause.
The ones that force you to sit with the version of yourself who is tired, stressed, and still willing to do one small thing differently.
I cried a little. (Not proud, just honest.)
Because growth is rarely loud.
Sometimes it’s just you, a plastic fork, and the sudden awareness that you are allowed to want more for yourself—even at noon on a Wednesday.
If you’re in the middle of your own “salad moment,” I see you.
The big breakthroughs are built from these microscopic acts of self-respect.
Keep choosing them.
What’s one small thing you chose for yourself today that future-you is already grateful for?

My company is a family
That's why I declined the Outlook invite for dinner with my wife on our 20th wedding anniversary so that I could put together a surprise party for my new direct boss's 6 month workiversary with our company
He was so slightly amused when he saw the beautiful cake I custom baked for him by filling out the order form at Costco
Surprising him in the break room with the cake and candles was one of the highlights of my career (so far)
My wife was upset, but she understands that one of my families is a profit center for our household, and the other family is a cost center
Sometimes you have to choose between two differing objectives, but good leaders know how to prioritize

I accidentally urinated in my pants at work.
After locking into a three hour deep-dive KPI alignment session, I was so immersed in the data and strategic discussion that I completely lost track of time—and the basics.
Despite my best efforts, I couldn't quite make it to the restroom in time.
A sharp reminder that while intense focus drives results, sustainable performance requires intentional pauses.
Even the best strategies need room for human needs.

My boss farted during a meeting with a big client—and blamed me
I quickly accepted fault and apologized to the client for emitting gas from my behind
I took the blame not because it was accurate—but because when you’re in front of a major client, alignment matters more than being right in the moment.
Following your leader’s lead protects the team, keeps the conversation on track, and ensures the focus stays on the work—not the awkwardness.
Leadership (and followership) sometimes looks like quietly owning the room so everyone else can do their jobs.
Would you have done the same?
