most startup swag ends up in a drawer but i really like how palantir handles it as it sells merch in drops of 300 to 1,000 per item that sells out in 15 mins. so make 30 of one piece with a real point of view, and give it only to your best customers.

Last year HubSpot went viral, but for the wrong reason. Blog traffic fell sharply in what was called an SEO collapse.
They spent 12 months rebuilding the growth engine with AI search, shipping changes weekly.

Most product launches these days should be a changelog entry.
@poyark just published how Rippling, Notion and Profound run launches now that engineering ships weekly.
I think the really interesting thing to look at what they stopped doing.
Rippling tiers every release: small, medium, large, XL. A small one gets a customer email and a LinkedIn post. A recent XL one got 100 marketing assets.
Profound stopped treating a release as a launch. "We get things to customers lightning fast, then we pick the market moment. Those are two different decisions now, made at two different times."
Notion's CEO emails release notes to every customer every 2-3 weeks. Tens of millions of people. The big launches are a separate motion.
And at the PMA summit in San Francisco this week: "Launch less, win more," a panel with Google, EA, Automattic and Walmart Connect.
Our own data adds additional light: we surveyed 100 product marketers on Wynter.
- 80% say their product team ships faster than 12 to 18 months ago. Of those, 91% blame AI coding tools.
- 62% are expected to support more launches than they can do well.
- 65% say features ship without evidence that customers want them.
- Only 27% say they have real influence over what gets built.
Key insights here
1. Most PMMs don't control what gets built.
2. They're drowning in launches, and the launch decision is being made on zero buyer evidence.
My advice for PMMs: you can control the launch queue and tiering.
Default every release to the changelog. Nothing gets a launch just because it shipped.
Before a bigger release gets promoted to a launch, put it in front of 15-30 target buyers. Does it change how they'd evaluate you? Would they mention it to a colleague? It only takes ~48h to know whether something is perceived as meaningful.
Set a bar - if a third of them say it moves the needle, do a bigger launch. If not, changelog. (Pick your own number. The point is that a number exists.)
Spend the hours you save on the launches that clear the bar. That's where Rippling puts its 100 assets.
51% of the PMMs we surveyed said the reason features aren't tested before launch is "not enough time." Where does the time go? Launching everything.
So the solution here is not changelog more, launch less - when it actually matters.

I love launches! They've changed a lot in the recent years (and keep changing). Thats what makes them fun. Launches are in the unhinged era. And a few things havent changed...genuine storytelling and passion, obsess over every "word" (word can also mean pixel, frame, etc.), meet e and ride waves versus staring at your own surfboard. Oh, and have tons of fun. Impossible to compete with the team having fun.

Super interesting analysis from @poyark. Most striking conclusion here is that AI native companies are hiring SDRs aggressively but not customer support.
Suggests they are having less success automating SDR than customer support.

Half flagged it unprompted. Even Max plan users hit limits 2-3x/day.
(I included five ways serious users are managing it.)
