Nightlife is on life support because the biggest partiers (millennials) have aged out and zoomers are hooked on sports betting and TikTok.

i am the same height as the average Victoria’s Secret model. a couple years ago i was at a Walpurgisnacht festival in Germany and bought a hat and broom from some vendors and then people thought i was part of the event possibly bc i’m gigantic so kept asking to take pictures with bunch of tourist’s vacation photos lol.

i stay in hotels pretty exclusively now bc i am a grown up but airbnb was awesome like a decade ago. i went to the Bahamas with my now husband for a conference that he somehow had there in 2018. the university was covering his costs but obviously i had to pay my own way. the i said fuck that and found an airbnb for $70 a night, which all of the other students also booked. it ruled. i saved the university so much money that they let us stay a couple extra days on them. my host picked us up from the airport and when i told her it was my birthday that week she planned a birthday lunch for me. it turned out that the airbnb was just a hobby for her and her husband was one of the head people at Tiger Woods’ resort on the island. she drove us there, got us in, and paid for our meals, which we ate while she got a massage. probably cost more than my entire stay. she also gave us a tour of the island and we got a discount at Atlantis bc we were her friends. i miss you Gloria the love of my life.
Airbnb went from a cheap way to crash in a spare bedroom or rent a vacation house for a weekend and turned into "what if hotels openly hated you and acted like they were doing you a favor by letting you give them hundreds of dollars to stay there, and also it's more expensive"

after my dad died i spent a lot of time thinking about what heaven is or what becomes of us after we die and while there’s nothing i can know for sure until my time comes, i truly believe the perfect afterlife is just sitting at a big dinner table with everyone i love, eating and drinking and arguing and laughing, forever.
I think this is part of the problem. People seem to be under the delusion they you need to unlock more meaning to life than just loving your friends and family. Besides religion, no, there's not really anything else. This is the height of human existence

my toddler is obsessed with Elmo. specifically Elmo. he calls him “Eh”. he has a stuffed Elmo he carries around. every time we see an Elmo anywhere he points and says “EH!!!” today we were at the store and he saw this blanket and pointed at Elmo and i said “you can take it home the register.” well. he’s sleeping under it now. i may have underestimated him.
