Quick Announcement:
Tldr: My partner and I are expecting. As a result, I will be taking a step back from coaching League of Legends, and will be taking an indefinite break from top level coaching at the end of the current year.
Hey all, I generally don't post much about my private life on twitter, but as this news was going public soon anyway, I felt it better to just communicate with you all directly. My partner and I are expecting. Team Heretics, players/staff/org have known since the end of Winter Split.
After much thought and discussion with those close to me I will be taking an indefinite break from coaching League of Legends at the end of this annual (2024 Worlds) cycle. There are many coaches out there who manage their responsibilities as a parent in combination with full time obligations to their org. However, as someone who doesn't play League of Legends and who has compensated for years by fully committing to the study of the game, the 110 hours a week I normally commit to the game in season is not sustainable with parenthood. Even dropping to 90 weekly this Spring Split felt very off, and I don't feel comfortable continuing without knowing that I can (responsibly) push myself to the limits I have done in the past.
The past 8.5 years I have been working full time in this industry have been particular hard for my partner (who lives and works in Amsterdam) and I. Being apart for 8+ months a year has never been easy, and I truly appreciate the sacrifices she has made over the past almost decade so that I could pursue this career. I hope to repay some of that in the coming months and years.
As for what's next. I'm not sure. I have a half finished PhD and some football coaching badges that are calling me to complete. But my main focus right now is on how to best help TH get to Worlds, and then to be the best supportive husband and father I can be. I will continue to work with the team during Summer and beyond until the end of my current contract. Team Heretics have been very supportive, understanding and accommodating of my decision/circumstances, and I truly thank them for that.
Just want to say thank you all for the memories. There are many individuals I want to thank, but I think the better time to do that will be when I actually retire at the end of the year. It's been a fun run. Hope to be able to get one more international event in at Worlds this year.
(Pre-emptive) Goodbye and thanks for all the fish.
Peter

Lol. BLG have done nothing before today to show that they deserve top 8.
Got a soft draw, had embarrassing losses (MKOI...).
Then just randomly show up when it matters and smoke HLE like its nothing.
Sucks for HLE who got a brutal draw, but man sometimes LoL is a weird game...

LOS did incredible work this year.
- From circumstances of getting into CBLOL
- Improving week to week, split to split
- Insane prep and good drafting at Worlds
@LoLEnatron and his staff did an insane job.
Sad it ended this way. But ty for making this old CBLOL fan believe.

Sry for muting but I don't want to see negativity which I know comes with these losses.
FUR and LOS did great work this year despite losing and have shown just how much CBLOL has levelled up.
Just 2 years of 2 seeds at Worlds has put BR here. Imagine if BR had 2 seeds from 2013

I'm normally pretty supportive of LPL teams, but you look at TES (at Worlds) and IG (in Summer) overcoming obstacles this year and it's hard to have sympathy for AL or BLG.
AL, and especially BLG, on paper have more talent but didn't do their prep or perform when it mattered.

Remember, the only reason LOS are in CBLOL is because ISG withdrew at the last minute. This roster was built to win promotion from academy. They are the guest team and had to play relegations before Worlds.
Now they are one bo3 away from Worlds top 8.
Absolutely insane story.

Thinking again he's on a staggering rags to riches arc. Part of the last class of RNG talents, clawed his way from poor rosters, finally got his shot on TES only to be marred by Naiyou's match-fixing, benched AGAIN but fought back to carry IG from Nirvana to Worlds!
I am SO happy for IG and particularly JiaQi. It would be so easy to get overshadowed by his legendary teammates, but in my eyes he’s the core of this team.
He was benched for JKL in split 2, then Assum in split 3, now he’s carrying IG to a top 8 at worlds!

BigWei is now the first coach to lead an LPL #1 seed out in the Worlds Swiss stage two years in a row.
Last year it was BLG, this year it's AL.

Congrats to TL, pretty sure this is the first time since 2019 MSI TL vs IG that an NA team has won a best of series vs LPL first seed.
This g2 would have been easy to choke away, but they stayed calm, played the map properly, and CoreJJ+Yeon clutched it out when it mattered.

AL lost to LEC3, TES with sub, and now LCS1 in a bo3.
Their prep has been disgraceful, constantly giving over comfort and not recognising or attacking any of the opponent weaknesses.
We know these AL players are smart with prep from last year. So its a lot on coaching staff.

I can't find words to express how I feel. We lived together for many years and shared so much more than just League. He was one of my closest friends, and reading this breaks my heart.
I honestly don't know what to say. Rest in peace, Lauri...

Uh... Sure the game vs T1 was always going to be hard, but with every LPL teams losing, as well as LEC1 and LCS1 this is possibly as bad as it could possibly get.
Jinxed it mb :S

Unironically getting T1 round one is the best possible draw for LOS.
Won't have to play them later if they lose, and if there is ANY Korean team that struggles with early tournament meta that you might be able catch out in a bo1 (but don't want to play in a bo3), it's T1.

Actually, genuinely crazy prep from CFO staff and Shadow that game. Give Lee Sin and punish 2nd camp.
Bit of a grief on bot fight, but super happy for him. I know he puts a ton of pressure on himself at Worlds, but this might be his best international performance to date.
