If you are a T-Mobile or AT&T customer, this is why your cell service wasn't working last week at the @NewRyanField home opener.
One clarification: both AT&T and T-Mobile have signed agreements enabling them to support their customers within new Ryan Field. It is just a matter of when they decide to do the work
AT&T has said they will do it in early 2027.

Not sure if this account is verified but... if this is correct it addresses the poor connectivity some fans found at last week's home opener for @NewRyanField at Northwestern. We have emails in asking if the following post's info is correct, that there is no fan-facing Wi-Fi.
@NewRyanField invested heavily to create the fastest mobile internet speeds of any college football stadium
This next generation 5G system is enabling internet speeds 30x-50x faster than stadium wifi even with a full stadium
Verizon chose to fully invest & integrate into it while also adding additional capabilities for their customers
AT&T & T-Mobile haven't yet chosen to do the work but are expected to do so in early 2027

Your cell coverage in a stadium is not based on the big antennas we all see.
Stadiums need to build out their own network of mini-antennas throughout the stadium (called a Distributed Antenna System or DAS) to effectively handle the massive number of concurrent users in a stadium setting
@NewRyanField DAS system is unsurpassed in it's capabilities and will be another area where new Ryan Field breaks away from the pack

The choice was to either go with a 30x-50x faster next gen 5G system or a current gen wifi that would be out of date within the next year or two
There is fan wifi available for mission critical uses (eg gates) but internet speed in the bowl is based on your carrier for now
