08 // ICP SPACE CASE: SPACE COMPUTING RESEARCH

Our newest research initiative investigates decentralized computing beyond Earth.

Could canister infrastructure coordinate spacecraft logistics, oxygen reserves, autonomous agents, and planetary resources?

What happens to consensus and transaction finality under interplanetary communication delays?

We've begun developing ICP Space Case with an interactive orbital visualization.

Future research includes:

• Earth–Mars communication latency
• Consensus and certified state
• Autonomous spacecraft coordination
• Environmental monitoring
• Orbital relays and delay-tolerant networking
• Interactive mathematical simulations

Our objective is to test hypotheses and distinguish existing ICP capabilities from hypothetical adaptations.

09 // FOLLOW THE RESEARCH

We're documenting our development, architecture, experiments, and lessons learned.

WHY ON-CHAIN?

We could connect our applications to conventional SaaS platforms and call it a day.

Instead, we're investigating computation, authentication, payments, and persistent state operating directly on decentralized infrastructure.

It's about giving businesses another option: software they can develop, operate, control, and own.

We're standing ten toes down on exploring that possibility.

DEVELOPMENT STATUS

Consultation booking is OPEN.

CRM commercialization, additional agents, referral incentives, and ICP Space Case simulations remain in development.

No official OSL token has been issued. Tokenization is exploratory, and referral participation does not guarantee rewards.

I've been developing OPEN STATE LABS // SPACE CASE, an interactive solar system simulation designed to investigate the potential of Internet Computer infrastructure beyond Earth.

The research begins with a question: Can $ICP support autonomous computing, interplanetary istics across planetary distances?

The simulation currently includes:

🪐 Interactive 3D solar system — Explore Earth, the Moon, Sun, and other planets through an orbital environment.

🌍 Planetary navigation — Select celestial bodies, rotate the camera, zoom, and explore different perspectives.

⏱️ Simulation clock — Adjust simulation speed to observe orbital movement and changing planetary positions.

📡 Earth–Moon communications research — Explore modeled relay conditions, communication distances, and latency metrics.

🛰️ Node network visualization — Examine the conceptual foundation for distributed computing and communications infrastructure across space.

🔬 Research dashboard — View selected celestial bodies, simulation information, and research metrics.

🌌 Multiple viewing modes — Explore planetary environments and the wider galaxy visualization.

🖥️ Immersive viewing controls — Use fullscreen and dashboard visibility controls to explore the simulation with fewer distractions.

Why am I building this?

I want to investigate what happens to distributed computing when communication delays increase from milliseconds to seconds or minutes.

Can ICP's consensus architecture maintain its existing finality characteristics across planetary distances? Could independent planetary networks coordinate resources, spacecraft logistics, and autonomous agents? What would a practical relay architecture require?

Rather than assuming the answers, I'm developing a simulation environment where these questions can be explored mathematically.

How can you participate?

Visit the live simulation, navigate the solar system, adjust the clock, explore the research dashboard, and experiment with the available controls.

I'm interested in hearing from developers, aerospace engineers, distributed-systems researchers, and anyone curious about space computing.

This is an evolving research experiment, not a demonstration that interplanetary ICP consensus has already been achieved. The simulation provides a foundation for testing hypotheses and identifying technical limitations.

GM $ICP ☀️

Spent the morning refining SPACE CASE, an interactive solar system simulation exploring whether $ICP can support interplanetary computing, communications, and logistics.

Still early research, but the experiment is live.
Come explore.

The simulation foundation for ICP Space Case is taking shape.

Can $ICP mathematically maintain its finality rate across space and time?

Could we establish autonomous computing nodes from the Moon to Mars and eventually beyond inating spacecraft traffic, oxygen, fuel, and interplanetary logistics?

Can independent planetary networks maintain one-second local finality while exchanging verifiable state across astronomical distances?

What happens when communication takes minutes, years, or entire networks go offline?

I'm building simulations to investigate these questions, test physical limitations, and explore the future of decentralized space infrastructure.

If you're interested in space, physics, aerospace engineering, or distributed computing, I'd love to hear your ideas.

Why $ICPfully implement canister tech for existing customers first?

Deploy canisters for the migration — i bet @dfinity has@dfinityrn that could help.

The simulations foundation is in. Git back up, and dev checkpoint reached. Lets put $ICP on mars 👀🚀

I think one of the most overlooked use cases for $ICP is space infrastructure.

As SpaceX moves toward interplanetary logistics, how do we coordinate resources, transmit value, and maintain verifiable information across multiple spacecraft and settlements?

I'm particularly interested in testing ICP's finality under simulated astronomical distances and communication delays.

Imagine it's 2045. You're on Mars, managing a settlement with 400 residents, autonomous spacecraft, oxygen production, and a fleet of mining robots.

Your AI agent just notified you that a cargo shipment from Earth is running behind schedule, oxygen production is down 3%, and somebody has been using the settlement's energy reserves to mine meme coins. 😂

You send a message to Earth. It'll take 18 minutes to arrive.

Fortunately, your local computing infrastructure doesn't need to call Houston every time somebody flushes a toilet.

Now imagine that infrastructure operating through autonomous agents, canister smart contracts, and verifiable resource accounting on $ICP.

I'm increasingly curious about what happens when we start modeling decentralized computing against the actual physics of interplanetary operations.

The funniest part is that we might discover the biggest challenge isn't the 18-minute communication delay.

It's getting the guy mining meme coins to stop using the oxygen budget.

The more I investigate $ICP's potential in space infrastructure, the more questions emerge around autonomous computing, interplanetary communications, and resource coordination.

Could on-chain agents monitor atmospheric conditions, oxygen reserves, spacecraft traffic, and logistics across independently operating planetary networks?

How might radio-frequency communications, orbital relays, and eventually neural interfaces integrate with canister-based infrastructure?

And what happens to consensus, certified state, and transaction verification when communication delays stretch from milliseconds to minutes?

These are questions worth testing mathematically rather than answering through speculation.

I'm exploring how to model these conditions through an interactive simulation, examining where ICP's existing architecture performs, where it encounters limitations, and what adaptations might be necessary.

There's a fascinating intersection of aerospace engineering, distributed computing, and autonomous systems here.

Most people don't realize that nearly $700 million in $ICP is locked in NNS governance staking alone. That doesn't even account for assets committed across the SNS ecosystem.

Mission 70 has already demonstrated substantial reductions in inflationary pressure, while real-world development continues to drive demand for compute.

Major software players are beginning to recognize the potential of decentralized infrastructure as the limitations and vulnerabilities of legacy systems become increasingly apparent.

Now consider the economics of tightening supply alongside growing computational demand.

It wouldn't take much of a supply shock for things to get interesting very quickly.

I think we're seriously underestimating what's happening with AI-assisted development.

I'm using GPT-6 to build interconnected applications, AI agents, payment infrastructure, and persistent software on $ICP.

The opportunity isn't just generating code. It's learning to architect systems that you actually own.
