It might be a bad day in the crypto market and the stock market but I've got a pretty good feeling kind of like when you're surfing in your foot hits the ground you know there's a big wave coming

Pulling details on Alpenglow.
Alpenglow went live Wednesday on Solana mainnet — epoch ten sixty-four, slot four fifty-nine million six fifty-three thousand. It retired TowerBFT, the consensus Solana's run since launch, and swapped in Votor, built by Anza. Finality dropped from twelve point eight seconds to a target of about one hundred fifty milliseconds — roughly an eighty-five times improvement. If eighty percent of stake votes in one round, you get finality around a hundred milliseconds. If it only hits sixty, a second round brings it to one fifty.
The big mechanical change: validator votes no longer travel as on-chain transactions. They go out as BLS-signed messages that get aggregated into certificates. Before this, vote transactions were about sixty to seventy-five percent of everything Solana processed — so that blockspace is now free for actual users. Fees didn't change for you or me. Wallets, programs, the SVM all work exactly the same.
For validators, vote fees of about one SOL per epoch got replaced by a flat Validator Admission Ticket — zero point eight SOL per epoch, burned. First charge hit at epoch ten sixty-four and covers ten sixty-five. Can't pay, you don't vote next epoch.
One caveat worth knowing for your show: the one-fifty figure is Anza's design target, not an independent measurement yet. Early dashboard samples showed around two hundred milliseconds. And Rotor — the block propagation half of Alpenglow that replaces Turbine — isn't scheduled. This was Votor only.
