As Nate Silver suggested, the four- or five-point candidate quality gap between Jocelyn Benson and Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan is an example of the sort of self-inflicted injury the Democrats wouldn’t have to deal with, had they nominated a centrist appropriate for that state.
