Most real-world asset projects I know are gated: a permissioned chain, whitelisted wallets only. That makes them harder to steal. We've done a lot to secure crypto, which is a bearer s, MPC: those solutions are available to RWA too

What a lot of people haven't looked at is the off-chain side. If someone hacks the token, I have recourse. I can freeze it if the smart contract is designed for it, burn it and reissue it, because the actual asset is still with us. With tokenized gold, the guy who stole your token doesn't have the gold. It's still in the vault

The first adoption comes from crypto institutions looking for a liquid asset that earns a yield they can't get from stablecoins. Then crypto treasuries, then stablecoin issuers and their reserves. Eventually retail will come. On a cross-border basis, so far it's mostly Luxembourg, through its DLT laws, that lets a fund be issued digital native in a retail wrapper

And TradFi exchanges are going to have 24-hour trading too, and crypto as well

We're entering a world where every venue competes for liquidity, and they realize the best technology for that competition is blockchain. That driving force is going to bring a lot of liquidity into the space

I'm definitely a proponent of a smaller number of overall chains, though not one chain to rule them all. But I don't think there will, or should, be thousands t at the end state of blockchain technology

Take Monad private settlement: transactions settle on-chain while certain parts are completely anonymized, so no one on the public blockchain can see a company's data, and it's still verifiable on-chain. Down the line we'll see a contraction, because the technology will get better and allow for greater composability

In crypto, a lot of our decisions as consumers have always been driven by user experience. But as more and more transactions happen without direct oversight or decisions from consumers, I think the choice of where a transaction happens is one that agents are going to be making
