Karpathy just open-sourced the data behind HackerTube.
20 years of Hacker News comments, filtered down to 6,454 videos, in one zip file.
Point Claude at it and build your own version.

Weekend hack: HackerTube. I was annoyed with YouTube's recommendations so I had Claude filter down 43M comments over 20 years of HN to 6,454 videos that keep being recommended. *Significantly* better viewing experience, ~2 hours with Opus 5.5:
hackertube.org
- Excellent (state is kept in local browser session)
- Thumbnail is a representative frame from middle of the video instead of the super duper A/B test hyper-optimized user uploads
- Underlying data from the comment analysis as one zip file, point your Claude at it and ask for your own version
- HackerTube Longs ✊
A bit more on the process:
I use Claude Code (desktop app for Mac), Opus 5.5 on Medium effort as my default. I only talk to Claude and have it do everything, the only "manual work" I helped with in tandem was in the browser (reminiscent of MenuGen): 1) I had to create some kind of API key from Google Cloud UI to query YouTube for video metadata, 2) I booted up a VPS box for serving and 3) I bought the domain name. Once the box was up I gave Claude the IP and told it update, secure, harden, deploy and optimize the code, and it did the whole thing.
Many awesome projects that would have normally taken weeks/months even can now be few-shotted for breakfast. What else are we not thinking of.

I was in Europe for ten days. Tried to compare Dot, Muse, and Grok Bot along the journey.
Dot was unfortunately unusable on the trip, both Muse and Grok Bot worked the whole time.
But Grok Bot was much more useful and proactive. Muse often responded to messages with things and “Logged”
Grok Bot, on the other hand, would provide much more detailed analysis and recommendations, it really was like having a travel concierge with me for the whole trip.
Just broke the news to my Dot.

Grok Bot booked my uber today.
Heading to a soccer match and my travel lead Grok Bot has been on it.
It has also been keeping an eye on my emails for the ticket confirmations and anything I need to know ahead of the game.
Amazing.

This is wild.
Andrej Karpathy built his own YouTube in about 2 hours. He says he didn't touch the code.
HackerTube = 6,454 videos recommended in Hacker News comments, 2007-2026, across 150 topics.
How it worked:
→ Opus 5.5 downloaded all HN comments
→ Sonnet filtered them in down to ~40K comments recommending a YouTube video
→ Opus built the YouTube-style UI, deployed it to a VPS, then secured and hardened it
His only manual steps: a Google Cloud API key, booting the VPS, buying the domain.
His setup: Claude Code desktop app for Mac, Opus 5.5 on Medium effort.

Details that matter:
• Thumbnail = the frame at 50% of the video, not the uploaded one
• For You feed with no account, state lives in your browser
• Full data export, so your agent can build your own version

10. One prompt for a 45-second launch film in Three.js and Blender, and Kimi went to his 4x3090 rig on its own to make the music. x.com/superalesha/st…
Kimi K3.1 Pro made a video about itself, and this is very good.
I gave it 1 prompt: basically make a dynamic 45 second launch film about Kimi K3.1 Pro with Three.js and Blender, make it as stylish as you can, and feel free to use whatever you want, including my rig with 4x3090s
used YuE2 to make music for the video.
I've made a lot of similar videos with different models, especially Opus 5.5, and I can say for sure that Kimi's work doesn't look like a crude distillation of Opus. It definitely has its own style.
And yeah, I'm having issues with usage. It's just insane. This is a major problem. I hope @Kimi_Moonshot does something about it because right now it's genuinely a terrible deal.
