Great to visit National Gas’s Avonbridge Compressor Station in Scotland and meet the workers keeping our energy system running.

Sites like this play a vital role in transporting gas safely and reliably to homes, businesses and industry.

Following the devastating fire it was a genuinely brilliant day today to see the bandstand in Overtoun Park rise again and officially reopen!

Hundreds of people turned out on a glorious day to listen to some music (including the Rutherglen song!)

The Chancellor spells out in The Times today why clean power is so important.

Renewables are protecting us now from complete exposure to gas prices set sky high by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and events in the Middle East.

We have to do more to break that link with gas.

A stronger grid, getting more homegrown power where it’s needed.

Today we’ve approved Sea Link, a major electricity network upgrade capable of carrying 2GW of power, helping secure, clean electricity reach homes and businesses.

Sea Link is one of 3 major clean energy projects given the green light this week, alongside Great North Road and Frodsham solar farms.

Backing both the homegrown power Britain needs and the infrastructure to deliver it.

Reindustrialisation isn’t just a concept – it's a commitment we’re making to deliver jobs and growth for people across the country.

This agreement is a vote of confidence in the economic plan we’re delivering – giving businesses the certainty they need to grow and invest here on our shores.

You mean the independent and respected @Strath_FAI say there’s more money for the Scottish government from the budget and the SNP say there’s not. Who to believe? The respected economists or the masters of grievance.
Here's what the Fraser of Allander (left) and Scottish Parliament Information centre (right) say about the impact on the Scottish budget. Spoiler alert: More money for day-to-day spending

We know he’s not a details man but this is nonsense.

The UK Government continues to support the Acorn project. Grant funding is already being paid out right now and further funding to deliver it remains on the table.

The project itself has confirmed that today.

The First Minister is either intentionally misleading people or badly briefed. The grant funding allocated to Acorn carbon capture remains in place. It will now be delivered through financial transactions - loans/equity stakes - to deliver greater value for money for taxpayers.
The Budget also betrays carbon capture in Scotland, and will cut the Scottish Government's budget by around £650 million next year.

Yet again, Scotland has been treated as an afterthought.

Important update on the Acorn CCUS project 👇
Claims about cuts to acorn funding are wrong.

The grant funding allocated to Acorn remains in place. Development funding has already started flowing in line with the project’s needs and that support continues. (1/2)
