Creating value from plastic waste!

Catalysis is key to convert plastic waste. Upcycling processes pave the way toward a circular plastics economy, in which plastic is not considered waste, but rather a valuable raw material.

Katarina Stanciakova obtained yesterday her PhD degree from @UtrechtUni.

She has worked on the modelling of water-active site interactions in zeolites, which is of great importance in e.g. biomass valorisation.

Last Friday the first joint doctorate of the @mcecresearch program was awarded. Jeroen Vollenbroek got his PhD degree from both @UTwente & @UniUtrecht. Very nice marriage between microreactor technology & catalysis. Proud that I could be together with Mathieu Odijk his promotor!

PhD student Laurens Mandemaker (@ldbmandemaker) just publishes in @ChemEurJ on nano-web surface-mounted MOF films.

These nano-web coatings have a higher amount of Lewis acid sites, and are more performant in alfa-pinene oxide isomerization.
