The family member who later killed him just got 80 YEARS in prison.
Allen Cogswell was a convicted child molester. He got out in May 2025 after a 7-to-12 year sentence.
Nicholas Stanley tracked him to the Daylite Inn in Elkhart and shot him dead. A jury found him guilty of murder. The judge gave him 65 years plus 15 more on a firearm enhancement.
This is why people lose faith in the system.

His sister Brianna Bailey says he has never been able to tolerate bullies, or anyone being cruel to the people he loves.
When she saw the photo of his bloody face, she was shocked... then she found out WHY it happened.
“He stood his ground.”
Somebody filmed it, that video went straight to deputies.
They identified EVERY SINGLE ONE.
All NINE were arrested at the school, all NINE charged with aggravated battery and inciting a riot, and the school district says they’ve been EXPELLED.
The sheriff himself came out and said it plain: this young man is the brave one, and the ones who ganged up on him are the cowards.

He’s recovering at home.

Prosecutors say it was a Polymer 80 GHOST GUN.

Court filings say that before the festival, his group met at a house where video showed at least 11 GUNS lined up on the FREAKING FLOOR!!!!
One of them matched the gun he was caught with.
Even his OWN LAWYER told the judge his actions were “dangerous and inappropriate.”
He was charged with FIRST-DEGREE ASSAULT with a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm.
The state wants him tried as an ADULT.
On September 1st, Judge Veronica Galván kept him locked up and called him “a threat to community safety" but then when the hype went away... yesterday she let him go.

The elderly man's name was Dennis Ionis West, he was 71 years old.
A neighbor hadn’t seen him in more than a week and on July 11th, 2022, Lauderhill police went to check on him.
They found him deceased, just inside his front door. Natural causes.
One of the responding officers was Brian Louis Sguros, 35 and authorities say Sguros told the medical examiner’s office he was Dennis’s FRIEND.
There’s NO indication the two men ever knew each other and then he told them Dennis had NO LIVING FAMILY.
Authorities say that was a LIE.
Investigators say Sguros then had Dennis’s body CREMATED.
On August 1st, just weeks later, he took possession of the house, he admitted it himself in a sworn court document.
AND IT GETS WORSE.
Investigators say he used POLICE DATABASES to pull Dennis’s personal information.
He paid the taxes and utilities in DENNIS’S NAME.
He allegedly FORGED the man’s signature to get a city permit for repairs.
The contractors thought Dennis was still ALIVE.
A neighbor says he tore out the inside and talked about renting it as an Airbnb.
He claims he spent $214,000 on it.
So how did it finally come out?
Dennis’s relatives, the family he said didn’t exist, sold the house.
And when the new owners refused to reimburse him for his renovations... he SUED THEM.
That’s what finally brought police to his door.
