The Russell Ackoff version "The righter we do the wrong thing, the wronger we become."
I stole this idea and now use it with every single employee.

It’s the best illustration I’ve seen of teaching someone to be high agency.

It says there are 5 levels of work:

Level 1: “There is a problem.”

Level 2: “There is a problem, and I’ve found some causes.”

Level 3: re are some possible causes, and here are some possible solutions.”

Level 4: “Here’s the problem, here’s what I think caused it, here are some possible solutions, and here’s the one I think we should pick.”

Level 5: “I identified a problem, figured out what caused it, researched how to fix it, and I fixed it. Just wanted to keep you in the loop.”

Using this framework, here’s what I say to every new employee…

You will live at Level 4 from Day 1 and as we build trust you will rise to Level 5.

Being high agency doesn’t just mean tackling problems in this way. It means your entire way of working should be oriented to being a Level 4+ employee.

Plz feel free to steal it as well.

And ty @stephsmithio for the framework!

One tip from my make-interfaces-feel-better skill is using `font-variant-numeric: tabular-nums` for values that update.

It makes digits equal width, similar to monospace fonts. Keep in mind that some fonts change the appearance of numerals when this is used.

Introducing the new /crawl endpoint - one API call and an entire site crawled.

No scripts. No browser management. Just the content in HTML, Markdown, or JSON.

@ray_at_work @xtbot To clarify this: the reality of almost all software that ends up making billions of dollars is that you take one "revolutionary" idea someone came up with 15 years ago, then just relentlessly iterate on it. There are only a handful of "sparks of genius" along the way.

A yoga class is a microcosm of this. Start with relaxation then ramp up to a period of hard high quality exercise followed by deep relaxation to close. I’ve always intuitively tried to use that, and many other parts of yoga, as a tool for living/working.

Whilst I don't doubt there are improvements/innovations on the inferencing side of things. Seeing this narrative from a few key players and the release of Deep Research from OpenAI feels an awful lot like rejustifying the capital expenditure on GPU after the Deepseek moment.
If you're not already paying attention to this shift, you should be: the balance of compute is moving from pre-training to inferencing. We're seeing massive gains here from scaling up test-time compute, with no ceiling in sight

@levelsio Lots of people wondering why UK:

- £50 same day setup
- 19% tax rate under £50k, then 25%
- Simple to file tax
- Not as litigious as the US (loser pays all fees)

US is 21% + state taxes so not necessarily much less and getting sued in the US scares me
