Friday’s Windows tip of the day!

If you use a Windows PC with a touchpad and spend a lot of time scrolling through long documents, webpages, or code, this one’s for you.

Three touchpad improvements we’ve been working on: accelerated scrolling, edge scrolling, and single-finger s that make everyday navigation feel more natural and comfortable.

Accelerated scrolling is available today, with edge scrolling and single-finger scrolling coming next week to WIP.

Here’s a quick look at them in action:

Coming back to New York six months later felt like a full-circle moment. More than 130 Windows Insiders and enthusiasts joined us this time around.

Pretty cool to see how much the enthusiasm has grown since we started the tour.

Navjot (who leads Windows product and ed a little of where we’re headed next, then spent the night talking with the community and checking out some of the latest work across Windows, Surface, gaming, and developer experiences.

It’s cool to see how people express their passion for Windows in unique ways. One Insider brought Windows XP playing cards from the original launch. Another shared the Surface Duo they’re still using every day.

And it’s been fun looking through the wishes people submitted at the feedback booth @alecoot built, using Surface Laptop Ultra and a local model to transcribe and summarize the feedback for the team.

Thanks to everyone who came out, shared what was on their mind, and spent the evening with us.

Last week, we shared the new Windows Search experience and how Search is moving from finding to doing.

The team put together a Beyond the Build makers video, where @YashMisra12 and some of the team share the design and engineering decisions that shaped the experience.

We’ll YC Insider meetup. See you soon.

Great time in SF last week with creators, partners, and the Windows Insider community.

That mix of people and perspectives is what makes Windows, Windows.

We’re keeping it going. Next stop: NYC. Navjot, who leads Windows product and engineering, and I will be in NYC this week time with the community.

What would you like to hear more about from the team? Drop your questions or topics below.

See you soon.

A lot coming together today across Windows + Surface, and a good look at where we’re headed next.

Hybrid intelligence. More local compute. The next generation of powerful devices. New Windows experiences. More ways to create, build, and experiment.

Lots more to dig into below. And if you want to catch the full event from this morning, you can watch it here:

Today, we announced new @Windows platform capabilities and @surface devices built to empower people and organizations for the era of hybrid intelligence. Here are some of the highlights:

- It all starts with trust. Microsoft Execution Containers (MXC) is now generally available agents contained within boundaries the operating system enforces.

- HydraFusion brings hybrid intelligence to life, allowing models to run locally while seamlessly accessing the cloud when more scale or capability is needed. We're working with @github to extend HydraFusion to Windows.

- This fall, Search on the taskbar adds thousands of quick actions, making it easier to adjust settings and get things done as fast as you can type.

- @MSFTCopilot is getting more powerful on Windows. With hybrid intelligence, it can tap into your PC's local capabilities and turn your requests into action, while keeping you in control.

- Local agents are coming to Windows too. Muse is on its way as a native Windows app with MXC integration, and Hermes, OpenClaw, and Perplexity are already building local experiences on Windows.

- Surface Laptop Ultra, built with NVIDIA RTX Spark, is the most powerful Surface we've ever built. It's available for pre-order today, along with the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box and new RTX Spark PCs from our partners. Call of Duty is coming to RTX Spark in 2027.

The Surface launch happened this week in Maui with our Snapdragon partners.

One of the interesting parts was seeing @dan_saito from our team bring his own workflow into the demo. Danilo works on experiences & devices and has been exploring how AI can help across the creative procd from Photoshop to Blender on the device, then into Vizcom in the cloud for image and video generation. That mix was the interesting part: a lot of the creative work happening locally on a portable PC, with cloud AI extending the workflow when it makes sense.

More to come in October as we bring the launch to more places and share more stories from creators.

Check out the demo:

A fun Easter egg from yesterday’s Meta Connect keynote: seeing @finkd demo Mixed Reality Link on stage with his @Windows + @surface setup.

We’ve been working closely with the Meta team on how Windows can extend into spatial computing while still feeling familiar.

A little more ay, and where the team is taking it below 👇

@finkd @Windows @surface We’re excited to keep building with the Meta team and pushing this partnership forward. Meta’s new VR glasses give us another canvas to explore what spatial and multimodal productivity can look like.

More to share soon.

@finkd @Windowsd@surfaceallenges has been figuring out how Windows can work naturally in a spatial environment without losing what already feels familiar.

That means getting the details right across two systems: simple pairing, high-quality, low-latency streaming, displays you can place anywhere, and a mouse that moves naturally across them.

@finkd @Windowsa@surfacest 3 or 3S, you can use Mixed Reality Link to extend your Windows PC into an immersive workspace with a large ultrawide or multiple virtual monitors.

We’ve also added support for using your headset’s microphone and cameras in Windows, and joining meetings as your avatar.

Friday Tip:

We've been hearing from people who want friends and family to try the latest Windows features once they're broadly available, but sometimes they don't show up right away when checking for updates.

That's because updates can roll out in waves. If you'd like to get new features as soon as they're available for your device, go to Settings > Windows Update and turn on "Get the latest updates as soon as they're available."

As more Windows Quality improvements make their way into retail builds, this is an easy way to be among the first people to receive them when they're ready for your device.

Priceless: #Bucs QB Baker Mayfield walked into his press conference wearing a Michigan tank top, with HC Todd Bowles singing the Wolverines’ fight song.

Bowles’ son, Troy, plays for Michigan, which beat Mayfield’s alma mater, Oklahoma. 😂

Digital safety is one of the most important responsibilities we have as an industry.

As a parent, I think a lot about how kids and teens experience technology: how they learn, play, create, connect, and build healthy habits around the devices they use every day.

For Windows, that means doing the platform work to make age-appropriate experiences easier to build across the ecosystem, while also improving the everyday tools families rely on: faster approvals, clearer activity reporting, more transparency, and more control.

Proud of the teams across Windows and Microsoft Family working on both sides of that problem.
