Like many, I've barely slept since the Coldcard incident. My mind has been racing on how to stop this from ever happening again.

I believe I've come up with a novel wallet design that solves Bitcoin's self-custody trilemma.

Live on mainnet.

Here's my proposal to add an address indexer to Bitcoin Core. It takes about 62 GB of disk space today, and can be run pruned. So a node with a full address index can be run with < 100 GB of disk space.

@MrHodl @BitcoinArchivees is over: if you check GitHub, you'll see hundreds of public fixes for ugly crashes, resource exhaustions, and general bugs in Core that were found with AI scans. Since these can now be found easily, instead of fixing them covertly we patch most of them in the open and release them soon. The majority are ugly but harmless, though we expect to find ugly and urgent ones too - those will receive immediate patch releases instead of being hidden for years while we hope nobody else scans our code. Hope is not a strategy - more frequent releases are.

Not sure what the above account (which I apparently blocked a long time ago, I'm sure I had a good reason to) refers to. Isn't being afraid the appropriate reaction to this flood of findings everywhere?

Excited to open-source Argo!

The most practical trust-minimized Bitcoin bridging:
• Setup time: ~100ms
• Offchain cost: ~10MB
• Onchain cost: ~$8

Your spare computer is one USB stick away from becoming your own private cloud.

Watch @lukechilds install umbrelOS 2.0 on a NAS and an AI PC, set up FailSafe (RAID), then pull a drive out while it's running.
Just a small computer, at home, that becomes your cloud.

Introducing umbrelOS 2.0. Out today.

The idea has always been simple: your photos, files, documents, etc should all live with you. Not on "somebody else's computer." Even more so now with local LLMs and AI agents.

For a long time that was only possible if you were technical, or if you were happy dealing with crappy UX.

Today it isn't. Proud of this team beyond what I can fit in a tweet.

I was able to decompile and analyse 494 wallets on the AppStore.

I found 45 apps that raised red flags for me during my research.

I looked specifically for 2 things: private keys exfiltration and weak entropy.

umbrelOS 2.0 has been living in our heads for a long time. We kept shipping knowing this was the one we were building toward.

None of this exists without this team. What an absurdly talented and relentless group of people. Genuinely feel incredibly lucky to build alongside them.

There's so much in this release. We'll go deep on all of it on September 22.

@umbrele: A new Core Lightning app update is available on @umbrel.@umbrel update again, even if you already installed v26.06.7.

We rebuilt the app from Core Lightning’s official signed release binaries to ensure the security fixes are included. Your node will restart and reconnect automatically.

Say hello to the first ever connector vault on mainnet. Just implemented it in Anzen and rotated my vault.

Look at those adorable little connector outputs. So much power in such tiny UTXOs.

This vault has both the emergency access path and monthly withdrawal path enabled. Here's me revoking both of them in a single batch transaction from the hot wallet.

This is stateless, it's not a pre-signed transaction, it was constructed by the phone.

If you're wondering what a connector vault is, it's a new kind of vault design i stumbled across while experimenting with Anzen. You can read more about them here

Wake up babe, new onchain vault design just dropped.

Connector Vaults: Delegated Execution and Stateless Revocation

Cuts the presigned txs required for the Anzen signing ceremony in half!
