This is the part that stays with me the most. The Fremen won the universe and lost themselves in the process. Everything that made them who they were slowly got erased, and the worst part is they helped make it happen.
Is the destruction of Fremen culture the most disturbing consequence of Paul’s jihad?
One of the saddest things about Children of Dune is seeing how much Fremen society has changed. Sietches are declining, old traditions are disappearing, and even the people who once stood b are now divided.
The Fremen spent generations dreaming of paradise, only to find that their own faith helped destroy the culture that made them who they were. Even their most sacred traditions have become tools of the Imperium.
Paul may have given them the universe, but he also took away the very thing that made them Fremen.

I need you to understand that Dune Messiah was Herbert’s direct correction which it strips Paul of heroic triumph and shows him trapped by his own myth, responsible for a jihad that kills billions, blinded and ultimately choosing desert exile to escape deification. The book is personal and concentrated, focused on Paul’s private agony, the conspiracy against him, Chani’s death and the immediate cost of his rule.
Children of Dune works on a wider scale. It shows the longer aftermath: Arrakis transforming, the empire stagnating under the Atreides myth, Alia’s possession by ancestral memory as a symptom of unchecked power, and Leto II recognizing that Paul’s path still leads to humanity’s extinction
Where Messiah proves Paul is no savior, Children demonstrates that even his tragic withdrawal isn’t enough, the consequences keep unfolding across generations and require a far harsher solution (the Golden Path), the broader canvas makes the systemic damage clearer than Messiah’s more intimate tragedy
(Please, i don’t know it all, correct me if i’m wrong)

Why does Children of Dune do a better job of showing the consequences of Paul's rule, even though Dune Messiah was written partly to correct people's interpretation of him?

Well, let’s just say according to the books, Paul already knows by the end of Dune that he’s become the villain
He saw the jihad coming in his visions and looked for any way to stop it, he doesn’t stop because he can’t
Even if he ordered it ended or died, the Fremen would continue in his name as a martyr, his prescience also shows that every path that fully stops the war leads somewhere worse for humanity
So he stays, trapped as the figurehead of the very thing he hates

In the #DunePartThree trailer, it turns out hat Paul Atriedes knows he's the villain. But if thats the case, why won't he stop??!??

Dune fans, can we talk about how the Bene Gesserit arranged a marriage between a grown woman and a nine year old child just to advance their political and breeding agenda? these women genuinely see humans as chess pieces

That’s literally the entire point of the Bene Gesserit. They’re not meant to be sympathetic. Herbert wrote them as cold, long-game manipulators who treat bloodlines like a centuries-long chess match. The discomfort is intentional.

Can someone explain how the Fremen keep their open water reservoirs from evaporating?
I’ve only seen the movies, but Arrakis is supposed to be extremely hot and dry. Surely large, exposed bodies of water would evaporate pretty quickly. Do the reservoirs have some kind of an explanation for how they keep replenishing the lost water?

Am I missing something, or is it ever explained whether the Fremen share the Empire’s disdain for thinking machines?
Given their Zensunni origins and religious differences from the rest of the Imperium, you’d expect them to have their own views on the subject. Did they Butlerian beliefs, or did they simply accept that particular part of the culture they otherwise rejected? I don’t remember the books ever addressing this.

Tony Stark surviving Endgame could’ve completely prevented the events of No Way Home. 😭
Imagine Peter having Tony’s money, resources, lawyers, and protection when Mysterio exposed his identity. Would he ever have needed to ask Doctor Strange for help in the first place?
