My contribution, telling Claude to add new consonants/aspirations/nasalizing to the engine and iterating in a loop with a SenseVoice ASR evaluation.

Learning Mandarin by watching a robot vocalize Tong Hua to a karaoke track was not on my 2026 bingo card
my vocal synth models the vocal tract as a network of branching acoustic tubes, unlike vocaloid which stitches together and pitch-shifts phoneme recordings. still working on improving naturalness by tuning it against recordings of real singers, but I'm already impressed at how cool it sounds!

Longtime fans as well as people new to WB's work are welcome! We will have zines with some of our favorite pieces and some short readings/remarks.

> But I do not believe that friendship today can flower out, can come out, of political life. I do believe that if there is something like a political life to be, to remain for us, in this world of technology, then it begins with friendship. Therefore my task is to cultivate disciplined, self-denying, careful, tasteful friendships. Mutual friendships always. I and you and I hope a third one, out of which perhaps community can grow. Because perhaps here we can find what the good is.

some personal news — tenderworld.co is my new product studio.

well, "product studio" is the most familiar label, but the reality is stranger than that. i view it as my post-AGI job.

i'm figuring out the future of work for myself. i want to be an example and a resource for others who are searching for the same thing.

my output, through tenderworld, is a series of projects with collaborators new and familiar. we focus on making things that it feels like *only we can make*.

this doesn't mean having a specialized skillset. through each project, we push ourselves into new mediums and processes, aided by machine intelligence, guided by our own intuition.

so far, i've followed this intuition all the way into making hardware, designing toys for my inner child, leaning into my chinese heritage, and working with manufacturers in shenzhen.

my work will certainly keep changing. the future demands continual reinvention of us.

some people call me an artist, some people call me a founder. to me, artist/founder exist on a spectrum. the future of the work we choose to make will increasingly look like art.

Day 1 crossing America by train. California, Nevada, soon Utah.

The train ploughs ahead in relentless forward motion. Every scene fills your entire field of vision, then vanishes before you can quite take it in. Nothing to hold onto. The windows were made for bearing witness. ntion.

Five wild horses grazing together. One solitary horse in a field. Icy rivers and grey highways bending through valleys, people fishing along their banks. Mountains bursting with ripe and vivid greens, oranges. This is what the people call fall!

Endless processions of giant pickup trucks, small trucks, tractors. A depot of yellow school buses, another of FedEx vans. Orange dirt, sandy salt, tiny rocks topped with a cream of purple sky. Straight electric lines pierce the horizon. A grey concrete brutalist train station in Reno. Free black coffee in paper cups. A WiFi network called ‘$4.99 pancake breakfast.’ A man dressed as a ghost, another as a pirate.

Our jovial conductor announcing, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, if you’re leaving us at Reno, you gotta go. You have been evicted from the train.’ He periodically narrates history about what we see. ‘We educate and motivate, so you can innovate’ seems to be a motto.

I keep thinking of two films - Paris, Texas and Before Sunrise. Everyone is going somewhere. Leaving, returning, escaping, coming home.
