🏦 Bank of Israel rejects Netanyahu's crypto sanctions plan
The Bank of Israel has publicly said no to a proposal from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to use crypto to get around possible international financial sanctions, the Financial Times reports.
The idea came from a contingency plan for Israel's banking system. Blockchain was one of the options on that list.
The sanctions in the report are potential ones, not measures already in force.
The objection came from the central bank itself, and it was made in public.

🚨 CoinDCX denies hack after $16M traced out of linked addresses
CoinDCX, India's largest crypto exchange, says none of its active wallets were compromised. The denial follows on-chain sleuths tracing roughly $16 million leaving addresses connected to the exchange.
CoinDCX says om January 2025, were compromised in its July 2025 hack and have sat unused by the exchange ever since. Its spokesperson said current central and user addresses "have not been impacted."
An investigator disputes the unused part. By that account, at least one of the old addresses was still taking in deposits and transacting with the exchange's present wallet in 2026.
A compromised address is one whose keys someone other than the exchange may hold. Coins sent to it after the breach are exposed.
CoinDCX also concedes that its system for collecting deposits from retired addresses broke down for a period and caused losses. It says affected users were credited and the exchange covered the losses itself. The statement quoted gives no figure for them.

🚨 BREAKING: GOVERNMENTS ARE PULLING THE PLUG ON THE INTERNET.
Here's what happened.
Two critical flaws were found in PHP, the code behind roughly 70% of all websites.
Amazon caught someone exploiting it 4 days BEFORE the public was warned.
Cloudflare is now seeing MILLIONS France and Finland switched off government services.
The Paris police website went dark.
The foundation behind Wikipedia took its own systems offline.
The NSA told every organisation: patch now or pull the plug.
That's one story. From one week.
Railway, a cloud platform apps run on, says customers' secret keys and passwords may have been exposed. Every deployment frozen.
SBI, India's biggest bank, confirmed customer data is on the dark web.
16 South Korean banks and lenders hit. 100,000 records leaked.
One Google data centre in London lost power and Revolut went down for hours.
Sound familiar?
2020. Something terrifying spreads. Governments shut everything down "for your safety."
You're locked out of normal life and told to wait two weeks.
This week they did it to websites.
What happens when it's your bank app?
Your money is a number on someone else's server.
If that server goes dark, so does your money.
Bitcoin in your own wallet doesn't live on their server.
No bank login. No data centre. Nobody to switch it off.
Get your coins off exchanges. Back up your seed.
Have a Plan A, B, C before you need one.

🚨 What Tornado Cash does to the Drift exploiter's trail
The wallet behind the Drift Protocol exploit has put another 24,885 ETH, worth $61.3M, into Tornado Cash, according to Lookonchain. It still holds 56,569 ETH, valued at $139.3M. More than $270M was taken in the attack.
a mixer, every move is public. Anyone can watch the exploiter's wallet, and exchanges can flag deposits that come from it.
Tornado Cash breaks that trail. Users deposit ETH in fixed amounts into a shared pool and receive a private note. Later, the note withdraws the same amount to a new address. A cryptographic proof shows that a deposit was made, but not which one.
Trackers can still see ETH going in. They lose sight of where it comes out, because any withdrawal could belong to any depositor in the pool.
That is why the 56,569 ETH still in the wallet matters. While it sits there, it can be followed. Once it is mixed, it becomes much harder to recover for the people who lost funds in the Drift attack.

IS THE LARGEST MARGIN CALL IN HISTORY IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN?
Americans now owe $1.48 TRILLION in margin debt. Money borrowed from their brokers to buy stocks.
June set the all-time high at $1.50 trillion. September sits less than 2% below it.
Now compare.
Dot-com bubble peak, n.
Right before 2008, July 2007: $416 billion.
Today is nearly 5x the dot-com peak. 3.6x the 2008 peak.
"But inflation." Fine. Adjust for it and it's still 2.5x the dot-com peak and 2.2x 2008.
"But the economy is bigger." Fine. Margin debt is now 4.5% of US GDP. In 2000 it was 3.0%. In 2007 it was 2.9%.
There is no way to measure this where it looks okay.
It's up 74% in 17 months. It broke its own record 12 times since January 2025.
And the cash sitting in those brokerage accounts? $434 billion. The debt is more than 3x the cash.
Here's what happened last time.
After 2000, margin debt collapsed 55%.
In 2008, it collapsed 52%.
That collapse IS the margin call. Prices drop, brokers demand cash, you can't pay, they sell your stocks for you. That selling pushes prices lower. Which triggers the next margin call.
Halve today's number and that's $740 billion of leverage being ripped out of the market.
And when it breaks, you already know the playbook.

When interest rates peaked, a 3-month US Treasury bill paid 5.63%.
The average US savings account paid 0.57%.
On $10,000 that's $563 a year versus $57. The gap is what your bank earns on your money.
A new paper from the Bank for International Settlements (the bank central le question: when banks pay you that little, do people move their money into stablecoins instead?
They looked at every week from 2019 to mid 2025. Over that time stablecoins grew from under $5 billion to over $220 billion.
The answer is yes, and the effect is bigger than you'd expect.
Savings rates barely move. Banks hardly change them at all until the Fed's rate goes above about 3%. So even a tiny weekly rise of 0.01% counts as a big move.
When one happens, stablecoin growth over the next ten weeks drops by about a fifth. In their stronger estimate, by more than half.
Put simply, stablecoins grow fastest when your bank is underpaying you.
A few other things stood out.
It's mostly Americans switching. USDC, which US businesses use, reacted more than twice as much as Tether, which is mostly used overseas.
It isn't crypto hype. When they ran the same test on the rest of the crypto market, Bitcoin included, nothing happened. Only stablecoins responded to bank rates.
So what do they suggest? At the end of the paper they list two things for regulators to weigh.
First, making stablecoin companies keep some of their reserves as deposits in banks. They admit the downside: it would pile large uninsured deposits into a small number of banks.
Second, "whether issuers may remunerate holders." In other words, whether stablecoins should be allowed to pay you interest at all.
Their final sentence:
"How that boundary settles will depend on the returns each form of money is allowed to offer."
Read that twice. What your savings earn is turning into a policy decision.
There's one more line that's easy to miss. Early on, the authors point out that central banks spent years studying how their own digital currency, a CBDC, would pull money out of banks. Stablecoins, they say, now let them study "a closely related mechanism" using money people already hold.
That's why we see stablecoins as a CBDC in all but name. A digital dollar, backed by reserves at banks, with its interest set by regulators and an issuer that can freeze it. The main difference is whose logo is on it.
Bitcoin was the one thing in this paper that didn't move. No issuer, no reserves, and no interest rate for anyone to approve.

Babylon Labs just posted a proposal to Aave. It's a proposal. Nothing is live yet.
How it would work: Your BTC stays on the Bitcoin chain, locked in a vault you pre-sign. No WBTC. No bridge. No ave sees a token representing that vault, and you borrow stablecoins against it.
Now the risks.
Liquidation: BTC drops, your health factor drops below 1, and your ENTIRE vault gets seized.
Smart contract risk: Your loan runs on Aave and Babylon code. A bug or exploit in either could cost you your BTC, and DeFi has lost billions to hacks. Babylon's contracts are still being re-audited before mainnet.
Getting your BTC back out takes about 3 days because of a challenge window.
Loan limits, liquidation levels and the price oracle haven't been set yet. The liquidation backstop still runs through WBTC. And you pay a Babylon fee on top of normal Aave interest.
Still needs a community vote and an on-chain vote before anything goes live.
Never borrowing against your Bitcoin is still the safest move. If you do, borrow small.

🚨 HEX founder Richard Heart was detained in Istanbul this morning.
What's solid so far:
Turkish intelligence (MİT) and Istanbul police raided a home in Beşiktaş at dawn. His wife was detained too.
He's been on an Interpol red notice since late 2024, requested by Finland over fraud and assault.
The SEC's US case against him was thrown out in 2025 on jurisdiction.
What isn't:
Turkish media say police found piles of cash, dozens of luxury watches and guns. Every outlet has different numbers. No official statement. No word on extradition.
HEX today? Down about 3%.
The token is already 99% below its 2021 high.
Hard to crash something that's already on the floor.

🛠️ Standard Chartered launches custody for Ripple's RLUSD
Standard Chartered now offers institutional custody for Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin on the XRP Ledger, through its Dubai International Financial Centre branch. The bank plans to bring its collateral-mirroring model to LMAX post RLUSD as trading collateral while the tokens stay with the bank.
That step still depends on documentation, testing and regulatory and internal approvals.
