BREAKING 🇵🇸 Israel bars European MPs and movement leaders from the Occupied West Bank as illegal settler attacks escalate.
The delegation — which included @labourlewis, @larabirdsnp and @Josu_Estarrona — was due to attend @ProgIntl's Second Ramallah Congress.

Today I was denied entry into the West Bank, alongside other parliamentary colleagues from across Europe as part of a @ProgIntl delegation.
We were held for 8 hours, interrogated and ultimately prevented from crossing the border.
I came to stand alongside Palestinians being attacked for harvesting olives on their own land. Instead, we were turned away, with no reason given.
More than ever, Palestinians are being subject to terror and violence by the IDF and illegal settlers. Increased blockades, demolitions and unthinkable violence have become the norm for Palestinians in the West Bank.
It is more important now than ever that we bear witness and show our solidarity.
But we were prevented from doing so.
I will continue to do everything I can to apply pressure on the Netanyahu government, and those responsible for the persecution and genocide of the Palestinian people.

Today Israeli authorities barred me and other European elected representatives from entering the West Bank to meet Palestinian students and civil society leaders, as part of a @ProgIntl delegation.
We knew that by crossing into the occupied Palestinian territories, we risked being detained, interrogated and turned away by Israeli authorities. And that, alas, is exactly what happened.
For more than eight hours, we were held, interrogated and made to feel as though we had done something wrong simply by attempting to enter.
The simple truth is we had done nothing wrong. We went to show our support for the Palestinian people and highlight the terrible injustice and violence being perpetrated against them. We want to ensure that people back home do not look away from the reality of what is happening.
Ultimately, we went to show solidarity. But we left with an even greater determination to speak out. We will not be silenced, and we will not look away. None of us should.

The SNP have hit out at the BBC ahead of a Question Time show which is due to debate Scottish oil and gas without any Scottish representation on the panel
SNP MSP Laura Mitchell said the BBC line-up was the 'perfect representation of the story of Scotland’s energy – zero wn resources'

Labour has taken advantage of Scotland’s resources for decades.
In the 1970s, Labour considered using the discovery of North Sea oil to establish a national wealth fund.
Instead, the benefits of oil to Scotland’s economy were downplayed in an attempt to suppress the nationalist Labour failed to establish a national wealth fund, while Thatcher’s privatisation meant oil revenues flowed straight into Westminster’s pocket.
John Healey has now admitted that a wealth fund established then would be worth over £1 trillion today.
We’ve had enough of Labour taking advantage of Scotland’s resources.
Every single penny of revenue from Jackdaw must go into a Future Wealth Fund for Scotland.
It’s Scotland’s energy, beneath Scotland’s waters, and Scotland’s industry expertise that make Jackdaw possible.
I wonder why Westminster is so scared of Scotland becoming independent?

It was a Labour Chancellor, Denis Healey, who was in office when Westminster kept the McCrone Report secret from Scotland.
Published in 1974, it warned North Sea oil could make an independent Scotland extraordinarily wealthy. It remained secret until 2005.

‘We'd have a British sovereign wealth fund now that will be worth probably a trillion pounds’
Chancellor @JohnHealey_MP suggests what Britain could have gained if it had set up an energy wealth fund like Norway’s back in the 1980s

I will always do everything I can for the younger generations who come after me.
There are over 1M young people who didn’t get to vote in 2014.
They now deserve the chance to have their say on Scotland’s future.

📈 Every household bill has gone up under Labour.
Andy Burnham has a responsibility to help people in Scotland with the cost of living.
🗣️ We are calling on Labour to cut VAT on fuel and to reduce energy bills by the £300 that they promised, and have so far failed to deliver.

📻 Speaking to Nicky Campbell on BBC Radio 5 Live today, I welcomed the approval of Jackdaw, highlighting the importance of protecting Scottish jobs and industry while building our renewable energy future.
🥀 It’s taken Labour over 50 years to back the SNP’s call for an oil ay.
🔍 Will they now commit to investing Scotland’s oil revenues in our renewables and jobs here at home?

While we rely on oil and gas, it's sensible to prioritise domestic resources over foreign imports, particularly where those imports have a higher carbon footprint.
Approving Jackdaw is the right decision, but fundamental questions remain unanswered. 🧵

🚪 The door is open — and we have to seize the opportunity.
🏴 At #SNP26, I spoke about taking Scotland’s case for independence straight to Westminster, challenging those who refuse to listen to the people of Scotland.
🗣️ “That’s not a risky thing to do. It’s a necessary thing to do.”

Scotland is on the front line of defending the High North.
Yet the Labour Government spends 7x more on defence in the South East of England than in the whole of Scotland.
An independent Scotland would never let our north coast go undefended.
I asked the Defence Secretary if finally put a permanent surface vessel in Scotland - the absence of which is currently a dangerous negation of Labours responsibility to Scotland.

It’s this kind of nonsense that got Labour punted out of power by the electorate in the first place.
Douglas Alexander is asked, if Brexit can be revisited, why can't Scottish independence?
He says Burnham wants a conversation on our relationship with the EU but Scotland has already had an endless conversation about independence for years.
And Britain hasn't on Brexit?
