Thanks to @WithHonorAction & @vetcampaign, I have a list of all 201 vets running for office this cycle. Will do my best to keep track of all the results. As a reminder, the 119th Congress started with 100 members with military backgrounds. #Election2026 docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d…

‘Look what I brought home for you’: GOP embraces earmark revival as Election Day looms
Republican lawmakers in the country’s tightest races are bragging about “bringing home the bacon” to a sour electorate.
A great one from @JAscholtes

Chuck Schumer is on the cusp of a major rehabilitation as Democratic leader, @jordainc and @calenrazor report -- if he can win a majority.
If not, things get more interesting.

NEW — Hakeem Jeffries slams Haley Stevens’ Mike Rogers endorsement.
“Haley Stevens made a terrible decision, blindsided everyone and isolated herself from the House Democratic caucus. We will have a discussion about appropriate next steps upon our return.”
His statement to me comes after eight House Democrats told POLITICO they want to see Stevens removed from the caucus.
"At the moment, we have one mission and that’s to win on Tuesday. Democrats must take back control of the House of Representatives and the Senate,” he added.
More on the Stevens challenge for Jeffries and Chuck Schumer in Inside Congress.

NEW w/ @calenrazor: If Dems win, broad agreement in caucus Schumer is leader. If they underperform/net lose seats he could be in trouble
If Dems win seats but are in minority, factions believe he holds on but could face opposition, 2028 ?s or even a potential symbolic challenge (though there's also skepticism someone jumps in):

Breaking and very sad news -- Sen. Chris Murphy is hospitalized following a stroke, an aide to the Connecticut Democrat confirmed Sunday.
His staff began notifying people Saturday afternoon of the hospitalization and stroke, a person told POLITICO at the time.
“Yesterday afternoon, Senator Murphy started experiencing numbness in his arm while at his son’s hockey game. He was taken to a local hospital, where it was discovered he had experienced a stroke,” Allison Herwitt, Murphy’s chief of staff, said in a statement.
“He was transferred to Johns Hopkins for further monitoring and is responding well to treatment. The doctors are encouraged by his progress, he is awake and alert, and we are optimistic he will make a full recovery,” she added.
Murphy, who is viewed as a potential 2028 White House candidate, has been traveling the country to campaign for candidates, including recent stops in Michigan, Minnesota and Florida. He had been previously scheduled to attend campaign events in New Hampshire on Sunday.

Scoop — Some House GOP incumbents made an eyebrow-raising emergency decision to stop doing their own polling weeks ago
They instead tried to save every dollar for swaying voters as they begged for the GOP cavalry to arrive — from President Donald Trump’s political operation to the NRCC
NRCC says they invested in a series of red-leaning seats early and conducted polling in more than *100* districts to monitor where the battleground was shifting and move resources
more on the scramble in the final days, as the GOP braces for some once unthinkable losses in Trump territory and key battleground seats hang on a knife’s edge >

The battle for the future of a House Democratic majority is on.
New details here about how competing wings of the party are jockeying for position, seeking to build unity, influence and governing agendas in advance of what they hope will be an Election Day romp.
The CPC gathered incumbent and incoming members to Washington last month to strategize. Moderate Democrats are scheming in behind-the-scenes conversations about how they can counterbalance the left with their own vision.
One thing both sides agree on? “You’ll see tension.”

Lots of frontline Democrats are running away from trans rights issues. But LGBTQ+ advocates are pushing an ambitious agenda for Dem majorities, and lots of progressives are on board -- setting up big headaches for party leaders.

Some Dems are fired up to use their potential majorities and pursue an agenda that includes protecting trans people. Others just want to focus on the cost of living.
