Hacking a small USB chinese devices is fun thanks to python and HIDAPI :)
First time ever I reverse engineer a custom USB protocol, too.

We had recently a #hackweek at @SUSE/@SUSE_CZ and I built a toy #raytracer for fun in @nim_lang. Super fun to refresh all the math in only 3 days but it was worth it. I followed the excellent book from @jamis: "The Raytracer Challenge".

You know, when you have an issue while programming/debugging and searching for it gets you a grand total of ZERO MATCHES??? So frustrating... so infuriating!

@matthiasendler @nim_lang And I forgot mentioning the optimized Rust version is 51 lines of horror...

Today endler.dev/2017/yes/ was brought to my attention. Thanks for such a good explanation @matthiasendler!!
My system:
- GNU Yes: 6.60GiB/s
- Rust version (optimized): 5.74GiB/s
- In @nim_lang: 6.24GiB/s (only adding buffering over the naïve version which was ~60MiB/s).

Today, I've been told about github.com/xiph/rav1e as "the fastest AV1 video encoder built in @rustlang".
Then I go to their github and I find... 76.5% is assembly.
Well played... well played.
Does everyone using it to benchmark use "RAV1E_CPU_TARGET=rust"?
My guess: no.

Things that make you smile and brightens your day: when you visit a big project with so many contributors as @nim_lang and you find yourself unexpectedly in the last commit =)

On my random hotel, I found the Standford bunny. See how well is it rendered: no artifacts, perfect global illumination and no need for screen space hacks. #graphics

I had to update and old java package for @openSUSE... Ouch! I ended up updating a bunch of obscure/ancient dependencies for quite a few archs... This is going to take some time :D

And it's even funnier, because @nim_lang doesn't have support for incremental compilation (it's in the works for some time). 3/3

It's funny, because @nim_lang (who was to compile to C/C++ and then compile these generated sources to an elf binary) takes less time (most of the time) than any random native C/C++ project, as it optimizes it's output for compilation speed. For free. 2/3

I just published a small utility to demangle @nim_lang function names in callgrind files I coded in a couple of hours.
Maybe someone finds it useful.

Immediately insta-delete your @chesscom account!!! They are literally selling your data to the whole internet. I spent a minute just smashing the screen and scrolling...

And today... I got a couple of ideas and squeezed it down even more: now at 438 bytes using (or 413 if I bypass @nim_lang's initialization... but I guess this is not recommended, hahaha).
Finally I got it working at 472 bytes. Now it's time to add 4klang and build an actual intro... LOL. #demoscene
