we don't own a cottage in the muskokas so we made one in superuser

why are we building Superuser?
i grew up watching Star Trek TNG & wishing the Holodeck was real. but i was never quite a fan of "do anything" open world games.
i prefer "constrained creativity" - where you give me a canvas & set of primitives & i build. a world i've been invited to participate in. that i can explore and make my own; but that i'm sort of "born into." Minecraft, Animal Crossing.
Superuser is a game idea @threesided and i have tossed around for years. what if everyone had their world, and they could connect them together in a non-euclidean way? we define the primitives - the engine, the physics - and users create the gameplay
today Superuser just looks an island you build w friends and connect a few agents into. we call it Grok bot x Animal Crossing x Minecraft
the future is a Metropolis. where you can do anything, meet anybody, and participate in anybody's world with them & play different objectives, game modes, you name it

something to understand about Star Trek TNG is the world in the 90s *was very much not like the Enterprise*.
that was the whole point. TNG was aspirational. it represented the best of us & what we could be. picard says this to Q directly in a bit of a self-reflexive fourth wall break.

Rewatching this final scene of Star Trek: The Next Generation today hurts.
The world in which this show existed feels long gone.
Every week we watched on “network TV” a strong and virtuous male leader be celebrated.
We grappled with real philosophical questions without cynicism. We laughed without being “irony poisoned.”
We celebrated men and women working together in complementary collaboration—not in zero-sum competition.
That world feels gone, but it doesn’t have to be.
Most of us still hold these values.
